 + 1 moreOverall, Jim was a very slow worker. I am so relieved that he is off my property now. However, I was his first customer in his new venture. For the most part, I can say that Jim did a good job; however, he made some bad judgments along the way. Jim decided that my Arizona Blue Cypress needed to be pruned, so he pruned the bottom limbs. This conifer should never be trimmed this way, and he did it without my permission. At the final invoicing, I asked for a $100 credit for this mistake, and Jim allowed this. Overall, Jim was a good workman, although he made decisions on my property that were inappropriate. In other words, he took over too much control. I hope that he has learned not to do this but to consult the owner of the property. I am concerned that Jim is not really cut out to do this work; he performed more like do-it-yourselfer than a professional. Jim worked 1pm - 5 or 6pm regularly, which meant that the project dragged on for a long time.
Description of Work: Jim demolished vines growing on back split-rail fence and installed new split-rail fence in the backyard. Jim demolished gate to the back yard and installed new story-book type gate to the back yard. Jim installed lattice fence above 6' privacy fence to make it 8' privacy fence. Each section was "an entity all of its own." Jim demolished split-rail fence of far yard and reinstalled, pressure washed, re-stained. Jim pressure washed picket fence and re-stained. Hauled away old fencing and some other things that he did not have permission to haul away; luckily, I got them back. He said he would have made the judgment to trash these things and apologized and understood that he actually did not have permission to make these kinds of decisions on my property.
