Big waste of time...

In early June, I spoke to Dave's office and asked for his help in repairing the tiles on my kitchen floor. My information was taken down and I was told to expect a callback. After two weeks of not hearing from him, I gave up, and called and cancelled my request. I had also written a negative, but honest review here on AL. The next day, Dave called me back and apologized. He seemed very sincere and stated he was just really busy. After talking with my wife, we decided to give him another chance. I asked Angie's List to delete my review because I felt he deserved another chance. I called him just before the July 4th holiday. He seemed like a really nice guy and promised to call me back the week after the holiday. We even discussed the details of the job and all I needed was for him to come by and look at it and give me an estimate. That was two and a half weeks ago, and once again, I have not heard from him. He came highly recommended and he may be a great service provider, but he is very unprofessional in following up on appointments. I would've appreciated it if he was just honest with me and said he was too busy, but he seemed really interested in doing the work for me. I had other work that needed to be done, but I wanted to evaluate his work with this small job first. At this point, I will just look for someone else.

Always goes well. They always check to see if we like the work when it is done, and if it meets with our high standards.

After responding to my email agreeing to come out to price the job it became increasingly difficult to get David to actually come look at the job or even contact him. Several of our phone messages were not responded too. When we finally met one Saturday a couples weeks later he was helpful with suggestions and measured & noted job requirements. However, during the visit we were constantly interupted by phone calls which he took instead of letting them go to voicemail. As he was leaving he promised to email us a quote by the following Monday or Tuesday ... to date we have not seen the quote or heard back to him.

They fix leaks in ceilings so you can never tell it was ever there, they program garage door openers, fix broken garbage disposals, move furniture, install ceiling fans, fix broken toilets, etc. all with a polite attitude, always timely, and they are the type of people you WANT to do business with. House never made me feel like a job was too small either, even if it was. I recommend if you want efficiency at a competitive price and the job done right, call HOUSE BOY.

Pass on Houseboy Poor professionalism Substandard workmanship

Very professional, friendly team. Offered creative insight on the projects. Receptive to changes. Work completed within a 2 week period which was helpful.

To make a long story-short, my gas furnace was replaced immediately and my headaches of two weeks have disappeared. I was being slowly poisoned by Carbon Monoxide. And by the way, my shelves are perfect and I am enjoying coffee on my screened in porch. This man is not only an excellent contractor but he will become your friend.

Dave was prompt for our first appointment and showed up a little late the first morning they were scheduled (about an hour). A team of 4 to 7 showed up around 9:30 AM and they were finished by 4:30 PM. Dave had other commitments and crews working that day, so he came and went and kept in constant contact with his crew throughout the day. The crew was friendly and a little messy, but in the end the job was good for the price I paid, and they were done in one day.

I am more than pleased. Dave was the only handyman to return my call - the jobs were small and I was having a struggle to finding help. Dave is professional, courteous and prompt. He finished the work sooner than expected and delivered what he promised. In sum, the results are more than what I expected. I will definitely call Dave whenever I need a trustworthy, talented handyman.

DAVE WAS ON TIME, BUT TOOK LONGER TO INSTALL THAN ORIGINALLY PLANNED. ORIGINAL REQUEST INCLUDED A PIECE OF WOOD TO FINISH OFF THE FRONT OF THE WINE COOLER, WHICH WASN'T PROVIDED. REQUESTED THE FINAL PIECE, STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED, ALTHOUGH PROMISED IT 2 WEEKS AGO.

I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE USED HIM, BUT HE HONESTLY TOLD ME THE OTHER ESTIMATE I HAD WAS A BETTER PRICE. HE WAS PROMPT AND PROFESSIONAL AND METICULOUS.
