I had all the info from a competitor as far as square footage, etc. I noticed a carpet remnant that matched the carpeting they had on rolls. The remnant was 12x15 and one of the rooms we are doing is 9x15. I asked how much the remnant was, as it had no price on it. Rather than give me the price she shot at me "We no install." I asked if they would install the same carpet on the rolls and now she says, "Extra $75.00 to pick up." Still no answer to whether or not they will install. I could not seem to get an answer to any of my questions and was beginning to feel like she did not want to sell me anything, as every response seemed negative. I explained that I was hoping to compare prices and she then pulled out a calculator and told me the 12x15 carpet was too small for the 9x15 room. I told her that didn't make sense and she said "Your sq. ftg.is wrong?" It became obvious she had no intention of working WITH me but rather against me, so I said nevermind I'll just stick with your competitor. And as I walked away she laughed. Where do they get these people? I really was made to feel like I was inconveniencing and bothering them. I will never go back there again.
Description of Work: Wanted to comparison shop prices for carpet removal and installation.

Did not go back to Home Depot as I found another carpet I liked that was less expensive.
Description of Work: Went to Home Depot & found just the carpet I was looking for. Called to get an estimate because they charge $35 (which is applied to your bill if you choose them) to come out. The man in the carpeting department was helpful, gave me a rough idea of what it would cost and when I said that was a lot more than I had planned on spending, said he had similar carpeting at a discounted price he could show me. Very helpful and really went out of his way.

I would not recommend them at all. We actually thought that Home Depot would stand behind their work which they finally had too. We thought that they had people that actually work for Home Depot roofers but they did not. They contracted out this work, and it was a nightmare. Our roof did not leak before, and when we had the new roof put on, it leaked. We had to have a sheet work done on the ceiling. They kept trying to find where the leak was with the people that actually put the roof on, and they couldn’t find it. They finally had to hire someone else to come in and find the leak. It was that bad.
Description of Work: We had a new complete roof done by Home Depot.

After the blinds came in, an installer contacted us and set up a time to install them. He came when he said he would, installed the blinds, went over how to operate them, remove them if necessary and how and with what to clean them. The service was professional and courteous. The sales representative was a little hard to reach once we decided to order the blinds but overall it was a satisfactory experience. This is the second home for which we have purchased blinds from Home Depot and we have been pleased each time. Since I have not worked with other local companies, I have no idea if they are competitive in terms of price but the service was very good and the blinds are of good quality. I would recommend them for blinds.
Description of Work: We ordered 2" faux wood blinds for our living room, bedroom, bathroom and front side light windows. A representative came and measured the windows. We did not do the entire home at once, but they were very good about giving individual estimates for each room so that we could decide what we wanted to do first. The blinds were ordered and came in around 2 weeks after placing the order as the representative indicated.

I am very particular about my home and this was the biggest remodel job that I have had to do for my home. I had glass sliding doors on a 2nd floor bedroom that provides passage to a small upper deck. I get a lot of sun on this side of the house. Plus, it is vulnerable to rain. The sliding door wood frame was rotted at the bottom and I decided to replace with two Masonite fiberglass French doors which I was fortunate to find at Home Depot. Their installer (Daniel Woodard) came on Jan 5, 2011 and removed the glass sliding doors & trim. He replaced with the French doors and new trim. He then caulked. I was extremely pleased with the result and love my new doors. Dan is very courteous and expert at replacing doors. Dan use to do house framing so he is great with the carpentry/trim work. Dan allowed me time to paint the exterior doors and new trim and then came back to install the screen system for these doors. While Dan was doing this job I asked if he would replace weather stripping and sweeps on three 1st floor doors. He agreed for a nominal charge and did a great job with this also. He provided the material needed. Home Depot was a pleasure to work with and I knew they would do what was needed for my satisfaction. But, I didn't have any issues. I wish all projects could go this smoothly. I highly recommend Dan Woodard (the installer) for door installation. He is trustworthy and does a fantastic job. I'm sure he will work with you regardless of which store you purchase your door(s) from. The total price includes the cost for the dead bolt lock and lever that I bought at Black Hawk Hardware to match my other door hardware. It includes all costs including labor.
Description of Work: Removed old glass sliding door off of a second level bedroom & trim. Replaced with new Masonite Patio Mini-blind French fiberglass doors. Installed new trim. Installed screen system for French doors. Caulked trim. Side job - replaced weather stripping & sweeps on three first floor patio doors. They did a good job. It took them 2 days to do a job that I thought would take a week, which really impressed me. It was a worthwhile experience as the floors look very nice.

Terrible....see above!
Description of Work: We closed on our home in August 2007 and ordered M&B window treatments through the Huntersville Home Depot Store. After two months we still did not have the blinds installed in the home. Upon installation the blinds proved to be very poor quality even though we spent over $4,000 for 21 windows. We had approximately 6 service visits to have the blinds completely replaced and several blinds replaced a third time. All our discussions were with the installation company and the manufacturer. We had an extremely difficult time getting Home Depot to stand behind their product and they refused to do anything more for us other than serve as a communication medium. We felt Home Depot should have stepped up and refunded our money and dealt with M&B directly, however, they refused to do anything until M&B agreed to refund our money in the Feb/March 08 time frame. We were constantly forced to do all the leg work with minimal help from Home Depot and constantly felt at the mercy of the installation company and M&B. This process was soooo long we had to pay for the blinds after the 6 month no interest promotion with Home Depot expired even though we had blinds not working! Home Depot would not even extend this promotion for us!!! We had to order Bali Blinds approximately the March 08 time frame and have been very happy with them. The final blind was installed in May 08. The one thing Home Depot did do for us was allow us to keep the defective blinds in our windows while the Bali Blinds were ordered so we at least wouldn't have to go back to temporary shades again. Overall, we were extremely frustrated with our Home Depot experience and have vowed to never use them again for any major project for our home. Lowes has earned our future business! Don't go for the cheaper cost, go with a quality blind specialist to avoid this kind of nightmare....we sure would if we had it to do over again!!! Buyer beware!

The actual installation went OK but the sales experience was frustrating. I was trying to match carpeting and the home depot had a perfect match. However, I had two other companies measure and provide a quote. Home Depot figured the job required 24 more sq. ft than the other 2. This cost me over 100.00. I asked a store manager why his was out of line and he said that Home Depot has a policy of not putting seams any closer than 18" to a wall. They put my seam 12" just like the other 2 companies had estimated. If you buy carpet from Home Depot you're dealing with the store and an estimator and then with installers that you can't communicate with at all.

This project was a comedy of errors. The "installers" arrived a day late, and informed me they don't install the plywood sub-flooring. Calls to HD finally got me to the manager of the sub- contracting company. She told me she was sending her "best guy" for the sub-floor. It took him TWO HOURS to nail down the first board (of 13). He called a friend (not employed by the subcontractor) to help. Finally got the job done, but they were very unprofessional. There was sawdust everywhere on my screened porch! They would not take the boards to the lawn to cut them. Home Depot seemed to be concerned, but I was on the phone to them reporting every problem as it occurred. Each shift, a new manager to deal with. Home Depot -- Grade B, subcontractor -- Grade D
Description of Work: Purchased outdoor carpet and sub-flooring for my porch. Home Depot arranged for the labor through another company.
