I called around 8:30 AM and talked to Ken. He gave me very specific information on pricing for the possible solutions. He made it clear it would be $500 if they needed to pull the pump up from the well. He also itemized other charges like cost of setting up drilling equipment on your property ($500 set up, $1 a foot to lower equipment, $10 foot to drill). In the middle of this drought, he also told me it would be 2 weeks before they could get to me if drilling was needed. He would, however, have a crew out to check out the well that day. Approximately 5 hours later, a truck with 2 technicians arrived. With about 20 minutes of work with their meters and gages, they were able to determine the pump was failing and needed to be replaced. They gave me a quote of $700. They worked steadily to pull the 300 feet of PVC sections to reach the pump and replaced it. They had also told me there would be additional costs if wiring also needed to be replaced. They determined, thankfully, that it was in good shape and fine to reuse. They carefully taped the wiring to sections of the pipe as it was lowered back into the well. I think they did as little damage to my yard as possible, just the lawn they had to dig up around the well head. The final bill was a little higher than the original quote. They added a check valve, which I apparently did not have previously. It is hard to shop for 3 estimates when you don't have water in the middle of a drought so I can't compare pricing. I was thrilled to have normal water pressure by the end of the day and with the overall cost.
Description of Work: My well was inconsistently pumping water, with air in the lines, black grit and low water pressure.
