My closing week was chaotic with little last minute requests from the bank, agent etc. Friday 12/4 , Triangle Movers called to confirm & advise they would arrive the next morning at aprox 9:30 am and that the driver would call me when the were on the way . Just like clock work , Kevin from Triangle movers called Saturday morning about 8:30 , they were on the way !! They arrived at 9:15 am , Kevin , Clyde , & Darnell. Very friendly & professional . They did a walk through , accessed all my boxes & furniture and wasted no time . These guys busted their butts. They stayed in good humor the entire time , talking about the UNC/Clemson game that night ( sorry for the loss guys ) . They handled all of my belongings with great care . I have not come across anything that was damaged or broken . They finished my move about 1:30pm costing me an extra $156 in addition to what I had already paid for the 3hr special . I thought it was going to cost much more ( I was expecting some hidden fees , but nope ) , I was pleasantly surprised . Moving is stressful everyone knows that , but Triangle Movers & Kevin Clyde & Darnell helped make it a lot easier . Thank you !! And Thanks to Angie's List to helping me find them.
Description of Work: I moved from a condo unit to town-home unit across town both aprox 1000 sf . I had shopped around with a few other companies and chose Triangle Moving Service and I am so glad I did ! When I called to inquire Donna helped me with all my questions and concerns. I purchased the special they were offering for 3 movers, 3 hours & a truck for $432.00 . Donna explained the rates for time beyond the 3hrs. With all the details in place we settled on date , 12/5 and she advised they would be on contact confirm prior to the move date.

Unimpressed. Crew called to inform me when they'd be arriving and showed up when stated. The moving crew was incredibly slow moving. I don't know if the crew that arrived for our move was the only crew, but this group lacked motivation which easily contributed to a significant cost on my end as 4 movers took "6" hours to load a truck, drive 5 minutes up the road, and unload. We packed all our boxes and staged them downstairs by the front door. We unassembled everything they told us needed to be broken down and still it was common to find only one person working at a time. Despite arriving at 9:45 and starting to move items as of 10:00 and working until 3:15, they charged me as though they had started at 9:30 and moved until 3:30. I asked why they rounded up and down they way they did and they insisted that was when they arrived. I asked about they break they took for lunch and why that wasn't subtracted and was told they worked through lunch. My insistence that they were bamboozling me was met with a strong arm approach that I was going to pay what they insisted. The moving crew relayed all this through a phone call to a woman on the end of the line that not seeing any of their less than impressive activity, insisted that they were right and I was wrong. This crew was moving so slowly, to the tune of $150 per hour, that we asked them to leave items behind as we realized it would be easier to get a Uhaul and beg a handful of friends to help us move a few items in the garage and back deck. Overall, this was less than ideal. We've moved a number of times in the past few years due to my military career and have had crews of 2 and 3 people worked faster than these 4. Pitiful and upsetting. In addition to working slow, insisting on their rounded work hours, and strong armed approach to paying, they asked for a "gratuity" before leaving. I had money ready for a tip but realized about 40 minutes into the move that there was no way this crew was earning a tip. The ONE THING I asked them to be most cautious about was scratching/denting the walls....needless to say, no tip earned and wouldn't recommend this company.

Response from Triangle Moving Service Inc.
First of all, note that this review tells more about its author than it does about our company. This client bought a three hour block of time through Angie's List which included the travel out to his location and back to ours. In spite of the fact that we moved roughly 10,000 lbs., he wanted the job completed in this minimum time. Let's take it from the top. First, he says they packed all the cartons, but this is blatantly not true. Our crew packed the entire kitchen. True, they did move some cartons to the living room and disassembled their furniture. In my many years of estimating I have found that when a crew does its very best they can move about 400 lbs. per man hour. On a hard move that number can dwindle to about 250 lbs. per man hour. In this case we had a four man crew moving 10,000 lbs. in 6 hours. 10,000 lbs. divided by 400 lbs. per hour divided by 4 men = 6.25 hours. So the job should have taken 6.25 hrs. but took 6 AND they packed the kitchen. He says we rounded up at both ends. Our crew members, interviewed separately, said they arrived at 9:30 and finished the job slightly after 3:30. Once our crews arrive on a job site, they get the contract signed, and do a walk through to assess how to approach the job. Then they prep the home, removing doors if needed, and installing house protection, so of course they did not jump into moving furniture the moment they arrived. The client provided burgers for the crew and they stopped long enough to wolf them down and sip a drink; they did not take a formal break and in fact a couple of them continued working while eating. They are not machines and are entitled to take a short breather on the job. I have no earthly explanation of what he meant by saying we were bamboozling him or that we used "strong arm tactics" to collect from him. Read our other reviews on Angie's list and see if there is even one incidence of this. True, the crew leader called the office and completed the bill with our office manager, but she had no interaction with the customer so I don't know how he could say she insisted on anything. True again that he told the crew not to make the second trip, to their surprise, but he had obviously under budgeted for his move and was not willing to pay for the second trip. Our crew members know that it is bad etiquette to ask for a tip and all said they did not do so. Finally, he says, "The ONE THING I asked them to be most cautious about was scratching/denting the walls", and then goes on to imply that they did so and therefore did not receive a tip. I have no doubt that was there a dent anywhere this client would have called in a claim, but he did not; there was no damage. Another thing the staff pointed out to me was that the home and the garage was very messy and disorganized making their job harder. In closing, he had one of our best crews, the same solid members who achieve A ratings on Angie's List frequently and consistently. He had unrealistic expectations from the start. He complained throughout the whole process and sent our crew back home very upset and frustrated. Most of our customers are a pleasure to work with, but from time to time there are exceptions.

The good, they showed up on time, were friendly, gave a more realistic estimate of the time it would take right away (we paid for 4 hours, but they said early on it would take at least 8 and I understood that) and they got started quickly. The ok, we had a LOT of boxes... they were a little surprised at how much stuff we had, and they seemed at times to be annoyed by it. They openly complained at some things, but hey, I don't like my job either. They broke something small, not a big deal, but it could have been handled better. Early in the day they moved slow... they seemed to do things to extend the clock; toward the end of the day (it took nearly 10 hours) they definitely picked up the pace to get home. A little less fowl language and cigarette butt liter would have been nice. The bad, my biggest gripe was them charging an hour (~$100) of travel time, I was so beaten down by the end of the day though that I just didn't care and paid them to go away. I'm fine if you want to charge for that, but when we went over the billing, it could have been more clear and it just wasn't mentioned. Another issue we had, we had so much stuff that late in the afternoon... maybe hour 6?.. they brought over a trailer to tow behind the truck... they told us it would be an extra $15/ hr charge without really explaining that...1- it was really $17/hr... and 2- it applied to every hour they were there... boom... nearly $200. All in all... I'd probably try another firm next time... moving stinks no matter what you do though. It's no fun.

Thanks for the feedback, we value the good and the bad. While they may have seemed to you to be moving slow at first, most have worked together for a very long time and they have a plan that they then execute for maximum efficiency. It does not help to try to rush to pack a truck. It is more efficient to be methodical and they know it. It takes longer to load a truck than to unload it because it takes time to put the puzzle together. Our crews know that cigarette butts and swearing are forbidden and we rarely have any complaints of this sort. However we did have a new man on the job and he may have been the culprit. He has been corrected regarding this behavior and it will not recur. Regarding the travel time; we add one hour of travel to every move we do and that is a national industry standard. We explain it to the customer on booking but occasionally they do not fully understand. This job was booked through our Angie's list special discount program. When a customer purchases this package they buy the first 3 hours work plus the travel at a discounted rate. We are obligated to abide the North Carolina Utilities Commission Maximum Rate Tariff # 1. Because we cannot exceed the maximum rate listed in the tariff, we are obligated to fill the contract out showing the hour of travel which is included in the special price offered on Angie's list. On this move, because the shipment was larger than expected the crew leader felt that he could save time and therefore save the client money by utilizing our 20' cargo trailer. When we use the trailer, we add $10.00 per hour to the cost of the move -- not the $15.00 stated in the review. We charge this for the entire move whether the trailer was present at the beginning or brought in later. This is because to bring it in later incurs much more expense to the company. It took a man 3 hours working to get the trailer out there plus the additional vehicle expense to pull it there. In this case, the husband was not present during the move and the offer to use the trailer was explained to the wife who then explained it to him. We were very careful to explain that the trailer would be charged for the entire move and not just the time is was there. Apparently some of this was lost in transferring the message. In fact, the numbers that this client recited were not correct. The trailer adds $10.00 per hour. When a client pays by credit card we add 3% to the cost of the move. This client therefore paid an additional $10.30 hourly for the use of the trailer. Because they utilized the trailer, the crew did not have to make a second trip. This saved the customer at least an hour of work time. The job ran for 11 hours at a rate of 128.75 which was increased to $139.05 with the addition of the trailer and the credit card up charge. Had we continued without the trailer the job would have run at least 12 hours at a rate of $128.75. The total with the trailer was $1529.55. Had we finished without the trailer the bill would have been at least $1545.00. We did not increase the bottom line by using the trailer. Instead we decreased it a bit and finished the job in less time. These prices are before the Angie’s list discount of $68.00 which was the same in either case. In our business the billing can be quite complicated, but not through our choice. We are required to do things certain ways to comply with Public Utility Commission rules and customers do not always understand this. I would have been happy to explain all this to our client before this review was written had I been given the opportunity to do so.

Overall the move went very well. There was only one broken item - our entertainment center from Crate & Barrel was cracked. It was made out of particle board though. They walked me through a form with three options regarding such items and clearly described my options. I chose to take my chances and leave it assembled. I do appreciate that they gave me options there, so nothing on them for that one item. My only advice for others is to take note prior to moving day of such items and determine if you want to keep them assembled, move them yourself, or disassemble them for the move. Again, not Triangle's fault, I made the call. The guys they sent were very hard working and professional. They provided full packing services and moved everything for us. I highly recommend their packing service. Not one glass, plate, bowl, etc. was broken. Truly exceptional! The final price was only slightly higher than the estimate due to the longer time it took to finish the move. But again, these guys were not slacking off. They put in a full day loading and unloading two trucks, after a prior full day packing! I've moved several times over the years and this company is at the high end of the list of best movers I've ever worked with. Highly recommended!

After they gave the quote for 9hrs , I asked them to match other movers' quote of 7 hrs. Then they gave an estimate of 7 hrs. (unlke other movers such as Two men and a truck or Allmysons moving who gave a binding/ not to exceed quote of 7 hrs). I had to choose Triangle moving as the dates I chose were not available with other movers. On the day of moving, the movers could not move my refrigerator with an excuse that they are not able to open the doors of the refrigerator. They left the refrigerator at the old address and told me that I need to get the doors off the refrigerator by a third party. The owner of Triangle Moving Services agreed to move the refrigerator (provided I get the doors removed) for an extra moving charge of $100 two days later. I checked with other movers, they all confirmed that it is the mover's responsibility to move once they give a quote and that they do it all the time. I checked with Two Men and a truck again to move the refrigerator which they agreed but due to schedule conflict, I had to again go with Triangle Moving for the refrigerator. Also, I had to request the party moving into my old address to adjust their schedule due to this. After I hired a third party service to remove the doors off the refrigerator paying $150 the next day , Triangle Moving messed up again. Two new movers misplaced the door hinges of the refrigerator. They initially denied it was with them. Then the owner calls to tell me that they found one in their tool box and the other hinge is missing. Then I had to place a special order for hinges which are delivered two days later. Finally I had to call the third party service again to install the refrigerator doors four days after we moved. Martin paid the cost of the hinges ($74) owning the responsibility for losing the hinges. If I had hired other movers from whom I got the quotes, they would have moved the refrigerator as part of their regular service. I ended up paying extra $100 for Triangle moving apart from the $952 for 7.5 hrs they charged and also another $150 for disassembling and assembling the doors. And above all a lot of food wastage and eating out due to not having the refrigerator for 4 days. I would have avoided spending $500 extra for all the mess they made. Above all, the stress associated with all the mess would have been avoided I had gone with the other movers.

Response from Triangle Moving Service Inc.
We provided service to this customer as stated. We provided a quote to the prospective client for 9 hours work along with a full pack. The client opted to pack themselves. Before booking, the prospect called and asked if we would meet offers from other companies. I responded that we probably would not but that I would listen to what he wanted to say. He said another mover quoted him 7 hours and asked me to quote 7 hours. I told him that I could quote 7 hours as requested, but if the move took 9 hours we would bill for 9 hours. After he received the quote, he then requested that I change it to a not to exceed. I declined to do so. In fact the move took 7.5 hours without the fridge, and 9 including the fridge, so the estimate was spot on. This prospect was trying to take the best part of each offer from different companies and combine them into a single offer at one company. The other companies that were quoting him did not have the Angie's List discount that we offer, which is a significant discount. This prospect was creating bells and whistles indicating a problem client. On move day our staff attempted to get the fridge out of the kitchen door but it was too big to go out with the fridge doors in place. It was a very high end fridge with water hoses and electronics in the door and my staff said they would not be able to remove the doors and assure no damage. I told the client that he would need a third party service to do it and he would need to pay them directly. He had put me on my guard by hammering so hard about the price that I was uncomfortable vouching for him on the third party billing. He insisted that our company to pay for the third party service. I contacted our third party service. They attempted but were unable to hustle a crew together that Saturday afternoon to remove and replace the fridge doors, so they sent a technician the following Monday. I told the customer that I would bill him only $100.00 for the time it took us to move the fridge since it was an hourly job and that was a part of the hourly work. He did not think he should pay for this time. The $100.00 did nothing more than cover some of the cost since it was necessary to send a truck and crew out specifically to move the fridge. When the technician returned the following day he reported that the fridge hinges were missing and therefore he could not complete the work. I asked the crew about it and both crew members stated emphatically that they did not remove the hinges. The crew leader went to the truck and found one in the tool box and told me that when he was finishing loading the fridge into the truck, the client handed it to him and he placed it in the tool box. The client denied handing it to him. I returned that hinge to the customer immediately. To my knowledge the second hinge was never located. I told the customer that even though my staff did not remove them, I would pay for the replacement hinges. The customer told me that he had to pay the third party service $150.00 for each day they came out, once at origin, and twice at destination for a total of $450.00. He wanted me to pay the $150.00 for the final trip since he claimed it was our fault the hinge was missing. I asked him to send me a receipt showing these transactions. He replied on his claim form that he was not getting a response from the other company. We I processed his claim I told him I could not consider that part of the claim without a receipt. He immediately responded with a receipt totaling $150.00 -- $75.00 for origin service and $75.00 for destination service. I checked about this billing with the third party service and this is the response I received from the company: “Hi Martin, I spoke with the technician and the technician advised that they collected a check for $75.00 at origin and $75.00 for destination. The shipper wanted the technician to say that he charged him a total of $450.00 and has been calling him to try and get him to send an invoice stating that. The technician advised that he did not feel right lying and would not send it to the shipper.” I was ill at ease with this customer from the beginning and my staff encouraged me to cancel him before the move took place. We do our best to handle all customers professionally, even the difficult ones. He indicated that the other moving companies did not have availability on the days he needed service but they are much larger companies with more trucks and crews than us and we are nearing the off season. I suspect they recognized a problem client and this was a tactful way to refuse service to him. In hind sight I wish we had declined him service. We lost a considerable amount of time and money working his account, and only to receive a negative review on Angie’s List for our trouble.

Triangle Moving Service provided great service to me for a local move. We called them last minute because the local movers we booked backed out on us for a larger job at the last minute, even though they took our deposit. That's another story... TMS showed up on time and were professional. They carefully loaded and unloaded our items. Nothing was broken or damaged in the move. I was very pleased with the amount of time it took to complete the move. We had a lot of boxes, living room set, bedroom set, dining room and office furniture. I would recommend this company. Hopefully I will not be moving any time soon, but if I do - I will definitely call them.

These guys made our move a lot better than we expected. If you ever moved, you know it is hard, stressful and demanding. Our entire experience with Triangle Moving Company, thru Angie's List, from initial contact thru the end of the move was great! The appointment went smooth, with total professionalism. They called when they were on their way and arrived when they said they would. No surprises. The best part is they completed the job in the allotted time. We figured that the 3 hour booking would carry over so they could make more money but this 3 man crew hustled, was very careful with every item and were very friendly and cordial. They smiled while they worked, never complained about a piece of furniture or an over-stuffed box or anything else. It was pure joy to work with these guys and they made our entire move a pleasure instead of a burden. We dreaded the moving day for almost 6 weeks but the experience we had with Triangle Movers made moving (almost) fun. Moving from an apartment to a house is a wonderful thing but Triangle Movers made it special. Thank you, Triangle Movers and thank you Angie's list for providing us with their superb service. If you need a mover in the Triangle Area then you need to consider Triangle Movers before you decide. It was money well spent and worth every penny.

We had renovations done to a part of our house and needed to store several large pieces of wood furniture. Triangle Moving Company picked up our furniture in April and returned it to us in August. The furniture was well taken care of and, when returned, looked great. The office staff and persons sent to our home to remove and bring back the furniture were extremely polite and professional. Triangle Moving showed up when they said they would to move the furniture and called while on the trips to make sure we knew when to expect them. The fees for pick up, return and monthly storage fee were all very reasonable. I would not hesitate to recommend Triange Moving to anyone.

Set up an appointment with Martin. He cancels and gives me a quote over the phone. Since we are downsizing, he doesn't feel the need to come out and give a quote in person. I request an email quote, and he sends me an email stating that because of the distance between the office and our house, they cannot produce the job effectively. We live in Raleigh, their office is in Raleigh.

Response from Triangle Moving Service Inc.
I regret that we were unable to give a quote to this consumer. Our main office is in Hillsborough NC and that is from where we dispatch our crews. Their move was to take place on the far side of Raleigh from us which is almost 50 miles. Although we can service this area for a larger move, this client wanted us to hold over in the truck and deliver the following day. This means we would need to travel about 100 miles each day to produce the move. The most expensive part of the job if often getting the truck to the job site, especially when traveling more than 25 miles to the job site. Since we would have to make the trip twice, we would only have a half day of work each day. Having looked over this potential move, I decided that we would not be able to produce this move competitively without taking a loss on it. I therefore declined to bid. Since I was out of town at the time I needed to send the letter I had to do so by IPhone. I am an old guy and not very astute on texting and Iphone skills, so I did not elaborate on why I was not bidding. I do feel that a company has the right to opt out of bidding if the scope of the job does not fit the company. We do strive to take all the jobs we can and we appreciate the opportunity to bid.

We had an excellent experience with Triangle Moving Service. The crew was very friendly, efficient, experienced, and careful throughout the whole process. The first day, they packed our 3-bedroom townhome in about 4 hours, the second day they loaded everything onto the truck in about 3 hours, and the third day they unloaded at our new house in about 4 hours. Nothing in our home or on the truck was broken or damaged during process, and the crew took care to place our belongings exactly where we wanted them in our new home. The price I had been quoted over the phone before the move was accurate; there were no surprises when it came time for payment. Overall, it was a pleasure working with the whole team, and I would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for movers.
Description of Work: Packed all our belongings into boxes, loaded boxes and furniture onto a truck, drove the truck two hours to our new home, then unloaded furniture and boxes at our new house.

They were absolutely excellent! I had to move the entire inside of my house. I had already packed up everything and had them in the storage center and there was going to be a 3-week wait before moving into our new house. They had good workmanship. They were wonderful guys, very careful, and nothing got damaged. We had moved 11 times in 38 years of marriage and every time we used a big mover like Bekins or Mayflower, something had gotten broken but with these guys, there was not a scratch on anything. They were wonderful to deal with. They had a very good price. Other people want more money, $1000-$1500 to do the same thing. The quality of work was excellent.
Description of Work: We used the Big Deal for Triangle Moving Service Inc. to move us on June 6th and then they moved us again in 3 weeks to our new home on June 29th. We had them move just the furniture. When I had it moved from the storage center, I just had them move everything because it was quite a lot of boxes.

Triangle Moving Service sent three men to unload our moving trailer. They were efficient and careful, and they had good suggestions. They reassembled a table that had been disassembled to fit on the truck, and they partially disassembled a wall unit in order to get it up the stairs. We were very happy with their work.

Movers arrived exactly on time, after alerting us a half hour in advance, and never uttered a word of complaint when our steep, curving driveway forced them to park in the street and carry our belongings farther. The three movers were polite, cheerful, and and extremely careful with all our stuff. They worked quickly on both ends of the move, and conscientiously deposited everything exactly where we wanted. We couldn't be more pleased. Moving is never exactly fun, but they made as pleasant as possible. I hope we never have to move again, but if we do we'll definitely use Triangle.

It went surprisingly well. They arrived on time, cordially introduced themselves, explained what would happen, explained the paperwork and the cost structure and after their first look at the contents of the house, estimated the move would take maybe an hour or two more than the 3 hour package price, and after discussion they got right to work. The move ended up taking 4.25 hours which included the drive time to Louisburg. (We shaved some time off by having them leave some boxes in the garage which we took care of later.) The guys were courteous, professional, moved fast, funny and made this move a pleasant experience. There was initial opposition from some in the family to do the move ourselves but everyone at the end agreed it was well worth the money. Thanks again!!
Description of Work: Moved furniture and boxes from Raleigh address into truck and then drove to a Louisburg address (near Bunn), unloaded furniture and boxes, cleaned up and left.

I started with an Angie's list deal for the first three hours of the move, which saved some money. They were responsive and set up everything. Prior to our moving day, we were contacted to confirm, and the crew/truck arrived on time the next day. The movers were friendly, professional, and made quick work of emptying our house and loading the truck. When we arrived at our new house, they were the same. They were careful with our belongings and careful on our new wood floors. We paid the balance in cash, which was cheaper than using a credit card. Compared to the crew we hired 5 months earlier to move into our temporary rental, this crew was significantly better for a better price.
Description of Work: We had everything packed (except lamps, which we moved ourselves - locally) and they loaded the truck and moved everything into our new house.

Staff very pleasant and professional. Arrived promptly. Packed all our China and Chrystal in boxes. And all of our kitchen items, furniture and paintings. Took very good care of everything. Only one small item broke. We packed suitcases and wardrobes for storage. Management was very supportive when we had to change our move in date. New place was not ready on time. Were very happy with their service and would definitely recommend them. Estimate very close to final price.
Description of Work: Packed us up in pods, had the pods stored for a month, then unpacked the pods at our new address.
