 + -1 moreWe had wanted to have this driveway paved for years and were now in a position to afford it. We found Ace on Angies List. Ted came out for the estimate, We liked his truck, his ideas, his physicality, and his price. The dogs liked him, that is important. He so obviously knew what he was doing. We decided then and there to go with his company. They came out Friday with two big trucks, a trailer, six guys in the crew, and three machines. Ted ripped up some roots with his loader before I left for work. By lunchtime they had flattened out the driveway with additional stone; when I got home it had all been done, they were all cleaned up, packed up, and gone, and our driveway was BEAUTIFUL! The design is in harmony with our yard, the boarders are straight, the surface feels nice, and the dogs all respect it. We will get it sealed in twelve months, by ACE.

 + -1 moreCrew arrived on time on Wednesday Crew cut old blacktop on parking pad so that the new layer would blend to the existing concrete aprin. Removed all tree roots. I live a forest and the old driveway was damaged by the roots. I had 4 trees removed before this. Brought in crush and run and by the end of Wednesday the driveway was rolled and ready for Asphalt. Thursday morning the crew paved the parking pad and the driveway. They were done by noon. Great job.

The driveway looks great and several of my neighborsI have commented on how it looks like a new driveway. The workers were very careful with the asphalt, so the garage apron and sidewalk was not stained.

 + -1 moreThis job was executed exceptionally well. Ted was on time, his crew was hard working and courteous, and they did a great job. Our new driveway looks amazing! They arrived on the morning the work was supposed to start exactly on time. They ran into a problem with a hidden stump that the last guy had paved over, and despite the additional work, did not charge more labor to correct it. Ted takes great pride in his work; I am glad I found him on Angie's List. As important as the good work was, it was the personable demeanor of Ted and his crew that really got my attention. They were great. So good, that I doubt I will need their service again, but if I did, I would not hesitate to call.

 + -1 moreMy driveway had never been seal coated and it was starting to show cracks. I contacted ACE Asphalt because they had a good rating on Angie's List. They came out and sealed everything, but unfortunately it rained shortly after they did the work and some of the seal washed away. I called them and explained what happened and they came back and re-sealed the driveway with no additional charges. The driveway looks great and I will use them again because of the way they took care of entire job!

 + -1 moreOur private road was crumbling. Ted stopped by and determined how much of the old road needed replacing. They came back 3 weeks later as agreed to do the work. They cut away asphalt to be removed, removed the asphalt, put down a new base of ABC and layed 2.5" of fresh asphalt. Everything was compacted and looked perfect. The road is now better than new and all the neighbors are happy with the work done. We'd definitely use them again.

 + -1 moreWe have a very long,12 year old driveway that was showing some wear. I had seen some signs at different job sites around town for Ace and checked the reviews on Angie's List. The reviews were very positive so I called Ace and spoke with Ted Stevens. He came out to see our driveway within a day of the call and said he felt our driveway was in pretty good shape, but could use some crack filler and sealer to better weather the winter. The former owners of our house told us to seal the driveway every five years or so and we had passed that and then some. Ted explained what types of products he would use, the procedure and what to expect after the treatment. He was able to come out and complete the job a few days later. The driveway really looked great and he did a thorough and very neat job. He came back to check it out at the end of the day to see how the drying was progressing and to be sure we were happy with how it turned out. We could not have been more pleased with his company's work. He also happily gave us our Angie's List discount. We will definitely use Ace again in a few years.

 + -1 moreACE Asphalt Paving did a great job on our driveway and parking area. The drive had to be graded to deflect rainwater from going in the garage. When it rained, the grading did the job. No water in the garage. They also hauled a load of topsoil and leveled the yard beside the drive. Yes, I would hire them again and recommend them to others. They were very busy so it may take a day or two for them respond to a call but we found them to be worth the wait.

 + 1 moreThe work that was done was way above expectations. The area was left clean with the side damaged by the work done by the tractors seeded with new grass seed and covered with straw. Also the area around our mailbox was graveled, something we had not discussed but was done anyway. I look forward to them finishing the paving of my driveway as I know they will do a most professional job.

 + -1 moreWhen I called them I thought I needed a complete overhaul of my cracking asphalt driveway and I was ready to pay upwards of $3,000. During the inspection for an estimate he told me that I did not need an overhaul and that the driveway was fundamentally sound. I did need the cracks patched and the entire surface sealed. This was a much smaller job but should suffice for another decade. Their work included services that others did not. For example they shoveled dirt off the edges so as to get back to the edge of the asphalt. Both of the other people I talked to wanted me to do that before they arrived. They trimmed a bulge that had become a trip hazard near the walkway that led from the driveway. Another merchant wanted to charge an additional $500 for this. This was a small job and they waited until they had several of these so they could do them all at once. They called 2 days in advance to schedule the specific time and were prompt and courteous. As best I can tell the work seems to have been professionally and well done. The only downside was that they were sometimes slow to answer emails but this was not a deal breaker by any means.

 + -1 moreFrom our first contact, through the estimate, work performed and all follow up, Ted Stevens of Ace Asphalt has provided us with outstanding customer service. Despite the fact, that they are busy and in high demand, Ted always returned calls (even after hours) and made us feel like our job was his top priority. The company provides quality workmanship, addresses questions and concerns, and conducts business in an honest, professional and friendly manner. Since moving to North Carolina two years ago, we have employed several contractors, and we have been most impressed with Ace Asphalt.
Description of Work: In spring of 2012, Ace Asphalt filled large cracks in our driveway, applied tack coat and resurfaced our driveway with 1 1/2 inch of asphalt. On May 24, 2013, we had them return, per their initial recommendation, to touch up and apply sealant to driveway.

On top of that, they were very professional and friendly from start to finish. It was a pleasure having them work on this job.
Description of Work: I had a long, gravel driveway paved by Ace Asphalt. They came out to discuss the job, measure and talk about some of the options for our situation. Ted showed a lot of knowledge about the different ways we could approach part of our job that was going to be a little tricky. We decided to go with Ace, after getting bids from two other asphalt contractors. It seemed like they were going to do the best job for the price, and I really liked their professionalism. As soon as the weather allowed it, they came to do the job. It took one day to do the prep and most of a second day to lay the asphalt. That is about as fast as I was expecting it to get done, considering the size of our driveway.

 + -1 moreAce removed/graded old rock and then brought in a good solid base of stone. That base was then compacted and asphalt applied. The consistency of thickness was 2" or more over the entire driveway. Great attention was paid to detail and edging as well. The crew cleaned up after the job and I was left nothing to do but enjoy the driveway. Ace Asphalt also re-sealed another driveway for me that same day. Again, great workman ship and detail. I was present during the entire job.

Description of Work: Jim & Ted Stevens (brothers in the business) Were both prompt and professional. My wife talked with Jim on Saturday the 10th and by Saturday afternoon she had arranged the start of our project. We are building a new home and have a 230 feet driveway which was a gravel road. To make things worse we had to dig a 30 inch deep by 24 inches wide trench for the utilities to be brought into our home down the driveway. Backfill of the dirt/gravel had created a quagmire of mud when it rained and for days afterward. Jim's knowledge as he explaineed to my wife what had to happen to give us a solid longlasting driveway surface impressed my wife. She called me down in SC on a trip and was so impressed we wanted to hire them immediately. Their price was the best from any of the other 3 companies we spoke with about this driveway. They were there right on time and even getting a really unexpected lousy weather day their team completed all the excavation , grading and replacement of gravel with it drizzling and showering from about 30 minutes after they started for the remainder of the day. They were on time to do the final smoothing and apply the layers of tar and chip required to give us a smooth surface. The road/driveway has been in for 4 days now and it is fantastic. I would not hesitate to call these guys again.

 + -1 moreAll I can say is Wow!! They came for an estimate and explained in detail what needed to be done do my driveway, which was being destroyed by Pine tree roots. He explained that they would get up as much of the roots as possible to prevent the same problem from happening again. He also explained that they would break-up and take away my old asphalt driveway and haul all debris away and completely resurface my driveway. All this would be completed within a one (1) day period. Needless to say they came at the requested time and by days end I had a completely new driveway. they were prompt & professional. They also did the same for my neighbors driveway. we are both elated and pleased at the quality of the work.
