My feeling is that any annual is really like having an attorney on retainer as everything else has a charge - exception being the 10% off parts with an "annual." Then too, a customer with an annual, I assume, receives preferential treatment, like immediacy for a service call.
Description of Work: Performed the $94. AC tune-up as per the AL deal - altho' I opted for an annual agreement before the service call as I needed one (they credited me the $94. offer). The unit that governs cool air to the upstairs home was deficient in need of Freon (they replaced 2 pounds @ $78. for 1st pound and $75. for ea. additional [Less 10%]). The annual contract affords a 10% Disc. off the cost of parts (Freon is a part).

The technitian was very professional and knowledgeable. He arrived early and was finished in just over an hour. He had a very cheerful and helpful attitude. I would highly recommend this company to my family and friends.
Description of Work: The technitian serviced my air conditioning unit and repaired several things that he discovered. He showed me what was wrong and I watched while he fixed the problems. One was a pipe that had been pulled apart that had been causing water to seep back into the air condition instead of draining outside. This had caused rust in the bottom of the unit. Also, I had been using the wrong kind of filter. The technitian installed the right size and showed me how to replace it.

They did an excellent job. The gentleman was very nice, very good. He was a young man, may be in his mid-thirties or early forties, and he did an outstanding job. It was very reasonable for what he did. The price was probably average I guess. I don’t know what the prices are for things like that, but it was probably very good. He was knocking on the door at exactly the moment.

I purchased two of the deals offered by Eanes Heating and Air Conditioning, one for spring and one for fall. Bitty arrived on time and we discussed whether he should perform just the spring air conditioning check up or to do both the air conditioning and furnace at the same time since I had trouble with the heat last winter. We decided that he would just do the air conditioning check up because I wouldn't need the heat again until next fall. While he was working on the air conditioner he also took a quick look at the furnace as well. He suggested what might be the problem and it will be addressed during the fall check.
Description of Work: Performed a spring check up on my heat pump and made sure it is working for the season. Bitty also took a quick look at my furnace because I had problems with it this past winter.

No one said anything to me about this. Found one on the floor and 1 broken when I went to "check everything" The door was half on - not tight or sealed because the lock/screw sets were broken. It could not have been missed by the tech.

It went great! I was very pleased with the professional manner of Ken Purgason and he was very helpful. I replaced an old expensive oil heater with a new gas heater and it works great! With the price of oil running around $1,500 a year or more, this system will pay for itself in 2 years. After installation of this system, the average price for the gas was around $30 a month! The programmable thermostat was a nice added feature that allow you to set the system to turn down the temperature when you are not at home further reducing costs of heat. At the time, I did not have a gas line to the house, but gas was on the street. So if you are even thinking about changing from oil to gas (or even a heat pump), I would highly recommend this company. It should be noted that this did not include AC, it was for heat only.

Bryan M showed up on time and spent several minutes gathering information and establishing rapport before looking at the HVAC system. He seemed genuinely interested in learning about my situation. After thoroughly inspecting and testing the system, he took the time to review his findings with me and answer all of my questions. He used numerous digital photos of my system to illustrate the things he was talking about. His findings differed considerably from the competitor's assessment. Although my equipment has some age on it, it is still functioning fine and does not need either service or replacement at this time. He showed me several components that would normally be tested during a "tune up", and all of them were covered with spider webs and dust. They had obviously not been touched in quite some time. I was impressed by the thoroughness and amount of time that Bryan spent with me - especially since there was NO CHARGE for the second opinion service call, and he did not try to sell me anything I did not need. Since my system still needed to have the preventive maintenance performed on it, I asked Bryan to have his office call me to schedule an appointment for the service call. Bottom line - I like the way this company does business. They have gained a loyal customer.
Description of Work: After accepting a competitor's offer for an HVAC system "tune up" at a reduced price, I was told that I needed to replace my HVAC system with a new one. Since I had not been having any problems with the system, I decided to call Eanes for a second opinion. Glad I did!

I decided to purchase a "Precision Tune up and Cleaning" primarily to see if anything could be done to reduce my $300 per month winter natural gas bills. I basically got a pretty clean bill of health on my 30+ year old Magic Chef furnace. This confirmed my suspicions that the lack of floor or duct insulation in an unfinished 1925 era crawl space was the real problem. I got a lot of useful info on my heating situation from the service man. I this case my peace of mind was priced at $94 with a $2 filter thrown in. I'll probably contact Eanes to check out the AC when the time comes.

Background: I use an Armstrong oil furnace (a good, solid name), installed in 2006 and professionally examined and checked out when I bought the house in 2009. It has been professionally maintained since then. Until the problems show, I had had only one problem with the furnace ( the oil filter canister had been allowed to rest on the crawlspace floor and had corroded; it was replaced and put up on a block and no further problems occurred). I originally called Eanes based off of their Angie's List recommendation. My furnace died on the night of the 3rd of January; Eanes came out and reset it. At that time their representative told me that the controller on my oil furnace was bad and would need to be replaced. I called them out again on the next day as the heat had died again overnight. On this visit the serviceman told me that the problem was the solenoid on my oil pump and that it'd have to be replaced. On the 6th (no heat again), the serviceman was back to replace the oil pump. The heat died again on the 9th, and the serviceman said the orifice was clogged (evidently the previous serviceman didn't flush the line enough). The heat died again on the 19th; I called on the 21st to get them back out. This time, the serviceman said the problem was that there was 'air in the fuel line' and said I'd need to replace the fuel line. The heat died again on that night; it didn't even last 12 hours. I was out $375 for the 'new pump', $58 for the 'new orifice', and $205 for the initial service call and STILL DIDN'T HAVE WORKING HEAT. Morning of the 22nd at 8 AM, I called Eanes and spoke to their service manger. They sent someone out that evening, with the service manager in tow. After an hour of messing about, the repair crew told me that the oil return line had not been hooked up and that they had hooked it up. The heat didn't even last until that night. I called Eanes AGAIN and this time the serviceman told me that the 'sparker' was shot (this is a solid-state part in a less-than-seven-year-old, good quality furnace that had actually been checked by Eanes' own repairmen, repeatedly, and had passed every time) and would need to be replaced. When I called the service manager to complain that somehow Eanes kept on not fixing my furnace, the service manager told me I should be happy that he wasn't charging me for having hooked the oil return line back up (!). On the 23rd I had to run my wife to the doctor that morning and so wasn't present when Eanes's repairman showed back up, but my mother-in-law was; when the repairman finished whatever he was doing under my house he had her sign an invoice and told her that "the bill was taken care of". I later received the bill for that replacement, which caused me to blow my cork about this whole issue. It's important to note that, over the whole cycle, service was provided by four separate servicemen (plus a visit by the High Point service manager). On the day of the 4th, I spoke to John Eanes about these issues and the upshot is that the bill for the transformer will be dropped. It was good of Mr. Eanes to personally take an interest in this mess. Review updated to reflect existing conditions, and to tone down some of the anger.

We regret that you did not have a fantastic experience with us as thousands of other customers around the Triad have. After investigating your experience, we found that everything possible was done to get you heat and we did everything in our power to bring you top notch service along the way. Each time the dispatcher was prompt in getting a technician to you and each time the technician was timely in getting the parts needed. In reference to the time you had to wait until 4 o’clock, it must have been a miscommunication as we were under the impression you requested a late afternoon appointment so you could be home for it. We ran fifty feet of 3/8”copper tubing at no charge, something that was missing and unhooked by a previous owner or company. After this we cycled the system fifteen times and there was no sign of a problem. The pump replaced was found to have a bad solenoid valve. The last part that failed, the transformer, lit everytime a technician was at your home, it just happened to go out to cause the last stoppage of heat. The technician you referenced as lying, is an upstanding and honest person who has garnered twenty five outstanding reviews in our company, the second most since April. We ask that you would give us another chance to service your equipment as we have been voted Best Heating and Air company three years in a row and won the Super Service Award with Angie’s List the last four years. Professional, thorough, and fixed and completed the job the other contractor had failed to do. The price was very reasonable, and we will definitely be using them again for maintaining our heat pump system and if a problem should ever happen in the future.
Description of Work: After using the contractor provided by our home warranty service, and after they failed to fix the problem after 3 tries, we called Eanes. Despite a week or two of extreme cold during which I'm sure they were overloaded with service calls, an Eanes representative called us back after normal business hours, spent 20 minutes on the phone with us helping to diagnose the problem and then reassuring us that they would come out the next day and check our heat pumps. True to their word, the same person who had talked to us the night before came out, determined that the motor had been installed incorrectly, (hence the burning smell and failure to provide heat), did a thorough check of all the vents, cleaned out the area, picked up the trash and old parts left by the former "repairman" , inspected all the units and provided a thorough diagnostic of the system. He also discussed with us everything he had done and what we could do to ensure the efficiency and life of the system.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I did not care for the company. I thought they serviced it to try to make money off of me and figure out things. I would not recommend them. I just wanted it serviced and he found a problem and had to replace a part. It worked fine until he found the problem and then it didn't work so he obviously had to fix it. I can't prove they were dishonest. I just wouldn't use them again because I don't trust them. They try to get sales instead of coming out to do the service. It was a high pressure sales and I don't care for that when I want someone to service something. I don't think it was a horrible deal but it wasn't that great.

I chose them based on their good reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. They were prompt and courteous, explained everything clearly, and did an excellent job with the cleanup after the work. They also didn't try to upsell and provided a clear set of options available to me which I appreciated. Once, they even told me over the phone how to repair my refrigerator which saved me a bundle.

Gene found that the blowers were set on high and it did not give enough time to dehumidify the air. He adjusted both units and the AC worked much better this summer. He then came out a few weeks ago to check the heat. He found a large birds nest nestled 25 feet into an air intake pipe. Gene is a true professional and I would definitely recommend their service to all.

Called Eanes and described the problem. They told me they could come by that afternoon between 4 and 6. The technician arrived about 4:45. He was very nice, very professional. Showed him the furnace. He immediately knew that the problem was with the ignitor but checked for other problems as well. He replaced the ignitor, cleaned the flame sensor, and tested everything to make sure it worked. I was very pleased with his service. He answered all my questions and did a great job. The only problem I had is that Eanes charged me $152 for a $30 (retail) ignitor. I suppose it's a really nice ignitor but that markup is too high for me. Also, they did not honor my Angie's coupon. I will try someone else next time. Edit: Today I received a check from Eanes for $10. They did honor my Angie's coupon.

From the estimate to the installation to the follow-up, Eanes provided exemplary service. The representative who conducted the original assessment provided a number of options, honest assessments of what was necessary (including optional services without any pressure to purchase), and took the time to understand our needs and circumstance. Installation could not have been easier and more impressive. Technicians were on time - to the minute - and were impressive in their attention to detail and cleanliness. Follow-up and assistance with inspections were immensely helpful. To a person, every staff member was courteous, gracious, and generous with time and effort.
