Hollar Tree Svc

Mr. Hollar was very punctual and professional the first time he came out. He came to my residence and looked at the tree I needed cut, He told me he would be glad to cut the tree, however he even advised me to contact Duke Energy to see if they would cut the tree (since the tree was leaning towards their primary line and to save me money). After contact with Duke Energy (which was a complete waste of time), I contacted Mr. Hollar again. He said he would contact me in a few days and come by and do the job. Well, that was over 3 weeks ago and multiple phone calls (with no reply). Since that time, I've contacted another tree service and they will be doing the job for half the price.

More than a month ago, I observed the same type of job being done by Hollar Tree Service; was favorably impressed by the tree limb removal job done and by how very completely and thoroughly the finish (clean-up) of the job was done, all the way down to their removal of virtually every branch, leaf, and twig from the limbs removed; I talked to the man in charge about their doing the same job here, and was told I would have to call for an appointment for an estimate and anything from that point, and so I did so. Then began a "mixed bag" of an experience...The man came out, and not only gave an estimate for cutting the limbs I was concerned about off of one tree, but also said there was an indication on a limb on another tree that that limb might fall on the house, and so gave an estimate for removing that limb also; plus, the man said the cutting up and removing of tree limbs, and complete clean-up, were included. I indicated that I was favorably impressed, but, as I tend to get more than one estimate, and because I was not the only one involved in this case, I had to say it was necessary for me to get more than one estimate. After that I proceeded to get more than one estimate, indicated preference for Hollar Tree Service, and it was agreed that Hollar would be awarded the job. But, between waiting for Hollar to return calls, a couple of tree jobs taking "longer than expected, "breakdowns", and other "reasons", it took a month for the job to get done, from the time of my first contact with Hollar, to the day the job was done. Also, the "clean up" job they did here was not anywhere near as complete and thorough as the clean-up they did and I observed at another residence, since they left leaves, and twigs and bits of branches laying here, which I tried to use as a hint by picking some up myself before they left, and saw them watch me, but they still didn't do it. However, perhaps I should note that Hollar did eventually come and get the job going when, he told me, he could have claimed another "delay", in inclement weather.

We've hired Hollar Tree Service on 2 occasions to do tree work for us. Both times their quote was very reasonable and they did great work. The first time a few years ago they removed one large pine tree, ground its stump to leave a flat/neat surface, and trimmed other trees with overgrown/dead limbs. They cleaned all the trimmed material away, ground it up into their truck, used leaf blowers to clean up their work area, and hauled away all the material. The second time we had a big oak tree removed, along with some messy brush, ivy, and other material. I also asked if they could leave some smaller pieces for us to use as firewood. They cut a few larger branches into manageable sizes and stacked them to the side. Their work was just as quick, clean, and they hauled away everything the same as the first time. Both times they were in and out in one day. The second time we also had 2 old metal clothes lines, anchored in concrete, that were in the area they worked. We wanted them removed and while they were working with their tractor, I asked and they said they would pull up both of them and haul them to the street. I think they charged us an extra $20 or so for the extra 20 min they spent. That was something we couldn't have done on our own without the tractor, so we were super happy they were willing to do a little more, and something out of their 'norm' to help. Richard Hollar is very responsive when you call, on time for estimate meetings and days scheduled to work, and very easy to work with. Their guys are very courteous, professional, and efficient. Will definitely use them again and would highly recommend to anyone.
