From planning to execution, Dave and his team did an outstanding job for us! Dave's attention to detail and direct supervision/oversight, along with his interest in working with customer input, helped to make the project go smoothly and to exceed our expectations. He shared great ideas and worked with us to achieve the look we desired. We were impressed by the hard work of Dave and his team in putting in long hours in even in inclement weather but always agreeable. Dave and his team showed up when we expected them and the cost was within the estimates discussed + our change orders. We plan to use Dave and his team again as we contoinue to work on our landscaping plan.

David was very professional, providing an accurate and reasonable estimate for his labor and materials. He was helpful in developing the design and responsible and communicative, finishing all work on time and within budget. Clean up was done nightly and repair was made to any areas affected by equipment. We look forward to having David return to do landscaping of the area. He is unique among those we interviewed because he is well versed in both stone work and landscaping

We were expecting a big-time "WOW" factor for the amount of money that we paid... and just didnt get that. I think some of his plant selection was good but others just didnt fit in with our family of 7 dogs. Basically, they came out and planted many plants but didnt tie into areas of the yard that were already "started" (had to do some temporary fixes in the back yard due to the length of time we were waiting for the job to be done).He had said that they would address drainage problems..... not done. Had said he would place big boulders on one side of the drive and run lighting down part of the driveway... not done. We had discrepancies on his final tally of hours worked by his crew but Mr VanWyck made good on that. Our work was done in the fall so we are anxious to see how things turn out in the spring. His plans DID include selections of plants that will flower at all different times of the year and tried to tie different parts of the yard together , which was great. Maybe that WOW factor will come in the spring.. WIll leave another review if it hits!.

The work was started on time and finished on time. Any new conditions (change orders) were addressed after discussion. Overall, the work was of high quality. I would recommend this firm for landscaping projects in the Western Carolina area.

The lanscape design was done, and estimates of 2 phases of the project were given as we requested. After the decision was made to go ahead with both phases, a time schedule was set. David VanWyck arrived at the proposed time, and all work was done professionally. Even changes and extras were done in a very timely manner. Overall, this was a very positive experience and we are very happy with the project outcome. Excellant job!

We contacted David VanWyck, owner of VanWyck Landdesign, in order to get his thoughts on a landscape plan for several areas of our yard. After a few days, he provided us thorough designs and detailed estimates all free of charge. We were impressed with his creativity, thoroughness, and easy-going manner. He was honest and did not try to "sell" us on anything. We worked with him to tweak the designs and estimates to get exactly what we wanted. Scheduling of the job was a bit challenging due to the number of projects that he already had on the books, but when his team was finally able to start the job, they worked non-stop and finished all of the work within 48 hours. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience. His landscape designs were very creative and thorough. He devised an affordable plan that we would never have been able to develop on our own. He emphasized the use of native, easy-to-maintain plants and shrubs and artfully integrated the use of small boulders into the design that turned out to be aesthetically very pleasing. His team arrived to do the work on-time and worked non-stop until finishing the work 48 hours later. David personally supervised most of the effort and was careful to gain our approval every step of the way but did not overload us with decisions. We were really pleased with the quality of the work and how hard the team worked to keep the site clean and tidy throughout the job. The final price, although not cheap, came in below the estimate, and we thought was quite fair. Of course, he fully guarantees his plants for one year. We highly recommend VanWyck Landesign and plan to use them again in the future.

The patio is very attractive. More importently to me is that it looks like it will stay in place. A previous poorly done patio installation by another company had me doubtful about using pavers. If David does the work, I'm a beliver. A beveled concrete edge was added to hold the pavers. The area was carefully graded to slope away from the house and compacted gravel was added for drainage. Sand was spread on top of the pavers and then vibrated so that it fell between the edges of the pavers. The pattern is well done and doesn't look repeated. We had David come back and do more work in another area of the yard. He installed a retaining wall and graded for better drainage. Another excellent job. We're having him back again when we get ready for a new driveway. I asked him about another project: Installing a water feature using an existing piece of interesting concrete I have. He said that it would be cost proibitive and he was skeptical that he could get it water tight. He suggested a non-water alternative that I could do myself. I really appreciated his honesty and suggestion. We will be working with David again.

Started the job on time, completed it in 2 days. All the work done as promised. Quality of work is excellent. I'm glad I used Angie's List to find this business.

David came out to provide an estimate for removal of landscaping as well as developing a plan for planting new, more appropriately sized plants. He was obviously very knowledgable of plants which thrive in this area, as well as which plants are best to provide a variety of color without growing too large and blocking the view of the house. David's crew worked extremely hard both days they were here, and the supervisor, David as well, even offered suggestions for my pool - which looked like a green lagoon! I can highly recommend Van Wyck Landesign!

I had David come by my property to give me an estimate on work I need done to improve a drainage and culvert. He advised me not to use his service until I I had completed construction on my house, and he recommended a grader to use who can fix me up temporarily to stop erosion and standing water issues I am dealing with. He was honest, punctual, and helpful with the advice he gave me. I recommend VanWyck LanDesign to others and will be calling them back myself.

He came across fine, but he was just high in price. I would use him in the future if his number were right.

David is unbelievably punctual. If he says he will be there at 9:00am, he is at the door at 9:00am. He gave us an estimate of 3-4 weeks, (which was unbelievable for the scope of this project) and he completed the job in 3 1/2 weeks. David was on site everyday, working beside his crew and would check with us often to make sure things were done to our satisfaction. His attention to detail and professionalism had us bragging to our neighbors!

Overall I could not have asked for a better outcome . From start to finish David was patient, helpful, and very professional. The cost was very competitive as I had another bid on the project which was very unaffordable. I have had several experiences with landscaping projects at our home and this was by far the most pleasant experience with the best outcome of all the projects.

Our backyard was nothing but weeds & dirt until we called in Dave. I had gotten several bids & Dave was right in the ball park. He got the nod because I felt he was not only professional but was also creative. He didn't disappoint! I did have be on his waiting list awhile before he could work on our yard but he told me that upfront....he was worth the wait. He came at the time he thought he would & then worked consistently on our yard until it was completed. He explained everything along the way & discussed any changes thoroughly. We decided to enlarge the patio a bit from the original plan...glad we did. His work is excellent....I am a perfectionist so not the easiest person to please but Dave made me happy. His standards are high & it shows in his work. His attention to detail really makes his work special. He was also considerate of my budget & offered to do this in stages or whatever would work for us financially. I would definately hire Dave & his team again & would highly recommend them. You won't be sorry.

It was an outstanding experience, from the bid to completion of the project.

They've come here a couple of times. Last year they came and installed a whole bunch of plants for us because we hadn't put any plants close to our house. They also put in a nice linoleum tree. Their service was very good. A guy came out a couple of times to maintain those plants and if necessary to replace them, fortunately none of them needed replacing. If you do a competitive bidding these guys are a little higher in price. They showed up exactly when they said they would. They are very professional. We have contract with him again this year.

He started significantly later than initial target date due to adverse weather and prior jobs extending beyond their initial scope. But it was worth the wait. We are very pleased with the end result. It's much more attractive than what was done by the original landscaper when our house was built seven years ago. We have received many compliments from neighbors and visiting friends. He was hands on during the work. While he had help, he was always personally at the site to assure everything was done to his standards. He was able to make greater use of existing soil and boulders than orginally estimated and came in 18% below his initial estimate.

David arranged to have the underground utilities marked and then for the gas company to disconnect the gas line which lay in the area and then replace and re-connect the gas line when excavation was completed. He removed all bushes and trees in the affected area. Upon excavating he found substantial rotting organic matter which the previous contractor had failed to remove. He also found the previous contractor had used inappropriate topsoil and incorrect stone to backfill the area and had failed to properly compact the new fill. David removed all the rotting material and all the prior improper fill, excavating a hilly area of about 120 square feet and 7 feet deep. He also installed a 12 inch drain. He then backfilled with clay soil, using a remotely operated tamping machine on every layer of about 6 inches of clay. He topped it off with a layer of good topsoil in the lawn and landscape area and of proper crusher stone in the driveway area. He seeded the lawn area and covered it with an erosion mat since it is hilly. He replanted the removed bushes and trees, added a new Blue Spruce, and mulched. He tamped down the crusher stone in the driveway and recommended we wait a couple of months before repaving. His price included 3 days of labor for two men, 5 truckloads of clay dirt fill, two truckloads of crusher stone, hardwood mulch, drain pipe, a 6 foot Blue Spruce, seed and erosion mat, and use of an excavator, remote controlled soil compactor and asphalt saw.

He is very reliable. He does very good work. He is professional and gives me a detailed quote on what he's going to do or the price for what he's going to do. He does what he says. I have recommended him to a number of people and I would highly recommend him. The work that he's done so far has been excellent.

It went so well that I felt comfortable going off on vacation and leaving them to finish the job. It would have been finished before I left except we had so much rain that the area was too wet for them to work, throwing them badly off schedule.

I am extremely pleased with the work that David VanWyck did on my patio. He was punctual, professional, and detail-oriented. The work is outstanding. The price was very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the work. The work was completed within 5 days from the start. Several of my friends have commented favorably on the patio. One said that having VanWyck LanDesign do the work was "worth every penny". I am planning another hardscape project for the front yard and will definitely call David again.

Dave responded to an inquiry within 1 day arriving promptly at the scheduled time and provided a detailed quote, in writing, in a very professional manner. Project took approximately one week and David Van Wyck arrived promptly each day. At any time a question arose needing my attention, Dave sought my decision before proceeding. Work was done on time, at the price quoted, and at or above my expectation. Dave is meticulous and very professional. I would not even go to another vendor if I need additional work. Two neighbors who saw his work have asked him for quotes on their project needs.

David VanWyck did an outstanding job. He is very professional. He does what he promises. Our driveway is beautiful and adds greatly to our house. I could not have asked for more.
