It was a good experience. It was $6000 worth of work and they did a good job. He did a very good job, his crews were good. They did well.

I can't say enough good things about David. It went great. Throughout the project David was attentive, creative, honest and a pleasure to meet and work with. We have an extensive and highly experienced development team all of whom were impressed by David. All came to depend and trust him. I first found David from Angie's List and after meeting him checked him out with suppliers who knew him. All gave him glowing reviews. My experience is that if I sent David an email early morning it was likely to receive a response early the same morning. Always the responses were knowledgeable and on point. When landscape is a critical finishing touch this level of help is very much appreciated. Over the next few years we will continue to fine tune the landscape and depend on VanWyck Landesign to make it happen. David is the kind of person one would be grateful to have as a friend.

I used David, among other reasons, because he has a degree in landscape design, and had excellent reviews on Anjie's List. I wanted someone who had experience, and would adapy his skills to my somewhat unique landscaping needs. I was not disappointed. David designed a lovely landscape for my home; he selected appropriate plants and trees for my area; he incorporated much of my existing plants into the design; his team came out and worked hard and diligently on installation; they came back to make sure that the plants were properly watered; David returned to make sure the soaking hoses hoses for watering were functioning; and his pricing was reasonable. I will use David again for other areas around my home, and recommend him highly to others.

David VanWyck and his crew were lovely. They arrived on time, worked hard, completed the work quickly, provided everything we requested and cleaned up afterward. The yard is beautiful. We couldn't be happier and recommend them wholeheartedly.

Great! Workers arrived on time, and job was completed in one day. Workers were polite and worked hard. The owner arrived at the start of the job, checked on everything at least once in the middle and then came at the end to ensure everything was completed to our satisfaction. In addition, the work includes a one year warranty in case we have problems. We were very pleased with the level of service, the quality of work, and their professionalism.

After interviewing about a dozen landscapers, I was most impressed with David. His reputation -- including among fellow landscapers -- is excellent, and his price accomplished more than all of the higher bids. He recommended a pondless waterfall, which we love and much more economical than all of the ponds that all others recommended. David was the most efficient of all the landscapers I talked with, giving me a written estimate in a timely way and keeping up with revisions in an accurate way. His competency is matched by his honesty, and I never felt there was any deception in our discussions -- as I did feel with a few others I talked to. I also very much appreciate that he oversaw all aspects of our projects and was a hands-on supervisor of his crew. The crew themselves were highly competent, very friendly, and hard workers. Probably what sold me the most on David was hearing his competitors saying that I could not do better than going with David, given his high level of skill at prices that were better than the competition. I couldn't recommend him and his excellent workers more highly.

I hired VanWyck Landscaping to grade and install a brick patio on one of my rental houses. His crew arrived on time and went straight to work. They had to remove a huge Oak tree stump before they could begin and this was a challenge, as it had to be removed to well below grade for the installation. They installed two crawl space vent wells and a PVC pipe for my gutter drain, connecting it to my existing drain pipe down grade. They graded the patio area, installed and compressed road bond, then layed the bricks in sand. The crew was extremely meticulous, constantly ensuring that the bricks were laid in the correct pattern and that everything remained perfectly level. They installed a natural stone step to the doorway. The crew finished the job in just two days, which I deemed to nothing short of a miracle. They cleaned the area up afterwards, removing all the debris and it looked great. I could not be happier with the job David VanWyck and his crew did for me and the price was very reasonable, I will definitely hire them again and would highly recommend their services to everyone.

I contacted David about a consult in early March. He was friendly, professional, and punctual. He asked questions about new property lines; was very knowledgeable about building the wall and pointed out similarities and differences in the walls. He heard my concerns which is very important. He emailed his estimate which I thought was reasonable and advised me of a time frame for completion which was to be anywhere from 4-8 weeks; however, he was able to begin within 4 weeks. The crew arrived on time and worked hard each day until completed. It took 3 days to complete which was longer than originally planned due to some extra thick concrete to manage but there was no complaint or changes in our agreement. The crew was meticulous and at the end of the day, the work area was cleaned and a safety tape put in place. They were experienced and certified in building retaining walls and it showed...at the end of the 3rd day, the place was spotless and a perfect wall was in place. I plan to do other projects over the year and I will definitely hire them again!

They dug up the area. put in 10 boulders and 50 different plants of different size and variety. They also added a pathway to the area. They did an excellent job. They are a 10. They cleaned up beautifully. You would never know someone was working in that area the last 3 days, its perfect.

The guy was really nice. He hasn’t done any work for us yet. We haven't even decided whether we are going to let him have the bid. I thought that the recommendation he made was reasonable. I think it's probably more than we are going to be willing to pay. I think the quote is high, but I don’t know if that's because he is expensive. I don’t have enough information yet to make a judgment about whether that's just a reasonable amount for the amount of work he would be doing or if it's a little high for the kind of work that we are asking him to do. At this point time, that's all the information I have about him. I picked him because of Angie's List and because his recommendations were good on Angie's List. I'm sure he does good work. Just from meeting him and interacting with him, I think the quality of his work will be good. But I'm not sure we are willing to pay that much money to have that work done if there's some alternative to doing it that way. I don’t think his quote is probably unreasonable for what he is offering to do. We may just have to not have such a good job done because we can't afford it. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about him. I think what he recommended to do was reasonable to do. I think the quote is probably reasonable for what he is offering to do. He was very professional. He was there right when he said he would be. He was very professional in the way he interacted with me. He took a very careful look at what our situation was to see what needed to be done. His recommendation was reasonable. He got back to us with the quote in a very reasonable amount of time. The price feels high to me, but I don’t know because he is the only person I've gotten a quote from. So in order to have some sense of whether that's too high or too low, I have to have some other information and research. With regard to quality, I haven't seen his work. I think based on my judgment of him that it would be good. He was very responsive. He was there within a day after I called him. We made an appointment right away, and he came right away. He was right on time. In fact, he was early; he got there before I did.

It could not have been better. David responded promptly when I called for an estimate. He came to my home the next day and we discussed the options for removing the 20 year old landscaping and installing a new updated design. Within days he provided an itemized estimate detailing the work to be done, and worked with us to revise the estimate to tailor it to address our likes and dislikes. His crew was very professional. They arrived on time each day and worked tirelessly. It was clear they were committed to performing quality work, and often checked with us to make sure we were satisfied with the progress of the job. The end result was a beautiful front yard that exceeded our expectations. It was a pleasure doing business with VanWyck LanDesign, and we will definitely use them again for our landscaping needs. We highly recommend them.

It went great! Dave is a very nice man. His crew, Manny, Meshach and Alex, worked very hard and were very happy on the job. I heard them joking around and laughing - even a little singing. They obviously enjoy working for Dave and enjoy what they do. The job turned out beautifully and I'm just so pleased. A lot of companies will go to a nice neighborhood and jack up the prices just because they think the homeowner can afford it. But Dave's price was very very reasonable and they don't mess around. They worked hard and they got finished in just two days. They cleaned everything up and it looks brilliant!

This was the second outdoor stair project that Dave completed at my home. Both projects look great and are a vast improvement over what was there before. Dave is very professional and makes sure that his crew performs high quality work. He is a very high integrity contractor and that is probably the most important quality you want when letting someone work on your property. I would not hesitate to recommend him for any landscaping projects

David is very courteous and knowledgeable. Along with the jobs that were done he took the time to answer questions about other plants and trees that I have on the property. His crew got right down to business and got the jobs done quickly and thoroughly. Everything was cleaned up, the plants watered and the mulch placed. David then returned a few days later and checked on the plants and made sure I was happy with them. He went to the trouble of calling another landscaper who had reserved the Japanese Maple because it was such a nice specimen. They worked out a friendly arrangement so that I could have the tree. Going the extra mile....

They were very responsive and they were able to come out quickly from what I recall. They completed the measurements and got the plans back to us very quickly. They came up with an initial design that had some potential. Because we are so far away from having the actual project done, we didn’t get back to them to refine anything. There was only one issue with how the water flowed. They were very helpful in providing us with an expert who could help us with water flow issue. We were happy with the company and their service.

After several delays due to weather, the entire job was completed in three days. His workers were extremely hard working,polite and friendly. Dave communicated regularly with us and checked the progress to insure the job was done as we expected. We were extremely pleased with his services.

They were fast. He was on time and within his budget. He was pretty good about checking with me on any material changes on the project. They were a little bit more expensive.

Provided a nice-looking proposal with reasonable estimate. Then hit me with a grossly one-sided contract that he wouldn't negotiate. Contract required half in advance with no completion date or price protection. I declined the contract.

Started work as scheduled. Accommodated changes as we went without complaint. Crew worked diligently for several days. Invoice was detailed. Good communication throughout.

Everything went well; on time and easy to work with; good communication. Made excellent suggestions on last minute changes/additions (trees).

,The job could NOT have gone any better!!!! Owner David VanWyck showed up around 9 AM on a Monday morning, as promised. He and his two very skilled and hard-working employees excavated the old driveway materials. David conferred with me on several items to ensure that we were on the same page. They showed up every day to work on the job, even when it was raining, and finished up on Friday (after just 5 days of work.) The final price was $1,000 less than his original estimate! They were extremely neat, courteous, and meticulous and cleaned up after each day's work. I can't say enough positive things about David VanWyck. HE IS THE BEST!!! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM AND HIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!!!

We just can't say enough good things about the work Dave and his crew did for us. We gave him a picture of what we wanted for the patio and fire pit and he improved upon the idea. He drew out his vision for the project on the lawn which was tremendously helpful in envisioning the project and the drawing also gave us some time to "live with the design" before finalizing the plans. Work was initiated in a timely manner. Dave and his crew worked meticulously and unobtrusively. One can tell how they take pride in their work, they spent much time measuring and fitting - they definitely were not trying to rush through the project. The patio and fire pit drain perfectly. The stonework is beautiful - truly exceeded our expectations. The beds and plantings were done just as we wanted. Dave's suggestions for plants were very helpful; the plants installed were good-sized and very healthy looking. This was a project we waited a long time to be able to do - and it was definitely worth the wait.

We had a communication snafu early in the scheduling process, not knowing whether telephone or e-mail worked better to ask questions without affecting a price change in the original quote. But once we worked through that, agreed on a price and the job got scheduled, it was relatively smooth from there. The written estimate was detailed and helped guide what was to be done. As a result, there were no surprises. They brought their machinery and materials each day and made steady progress. The water proofing job was completed in 7 days. Some of the shrubbery that were dug up and then replanted, did not survive, but that was to be expected. The steps from the driveway to the front door look good. I have not had any water in the basement or the garage since the work was done, despite some very heavy rainfall. They called and checked after the first rains, to see if the water seepage problem was resolved. It was a good and friendly crew. David VanWyck kept me informed throughout the process and asked questions of me when decisions needed to be made. Overall, a very good experience.
