Monty and his crew were exceptionally friendly and professional. I needed to fix or replace a wooden window frame in the bathroom shower that was starting to rot. I also decided to get an estimate on pressure washing the house and staining the deck. They came out to look at everything, taking measurements and pictures, and emailed me an estimate later that day. The estimate was broken out by task and they offered a discount if I decided to get all the work done at the same time. Monty stayed in constant contact the next few days as we waited for a time that the weather wasn't a torrential downpour. When they were able to come out, the guys doing the work (sadly, I cannot recall their names) were top notch. The man doing the window cut out the wooden frame with surgical precision, and replaced it with PVC board that looks fantastic and definitely will not rot. The entire time he explained what he was doing and answered any questions I had. When he was done he cleaned everything up and you would never know he was there. Meanwhile after pressure washing the house and deck, the other man walked around the entire house with me and made sure I was satisfied that he did not miss a spot. Due to the weather, they were unable to stain the deck that day, but Monty came over that night to offer color samples and discuss with me what would look best. When a nicer day presented itself he made sure I was comfortable with them coming out to do the work even though I would not be home. I got home to a deck that looked even better than I anticipated. Monty came back the next day to make sure I was satisfied with all of the work. Even though they were unable to do it all the same day as discussed, he honored the original discounted estimate. Through the entire process Monty and his crew were friendly, courteous, and professional. The work exceeded my expectations and I will definitely use them again in the future.

We wanted some shade on our south-facing deck and found Smart Repairs which reps and installs the SunSetter awnings. They did an exceptional job in all respects from coming out with samples and providing an estimate to ordering and installing the awning in a timely fashion. We'd highly recommend Smart Repairs for purchasing and installing an awning.

The one thing missing in the house we bought was a window in the dining area of our kitchen to look out on the tress and mountains around our property. We had contacted Smart Repair about installing an awning on our deck and were delighted to find out when they came out to give us an estimate on the awning that they also installed windows and that we'd get a discount if we did both jobs together which we did. The crew arrived punctually, worked efficiently and cleanly and finished both jobs in a few hours. We're very happy with the work Smart Repairs did for us, would highly recommend them and will use them in the future should the need arise.

I thought I wanted an awning but Monty asked some questions and offered some ideas and we decided that a roof would probably meet my expectations more so than an awning. It's one of the best upgrades I have made to my house. I absolutely love it and everyone who has seen it is very impressed. The guys that built it were professional, friendly and courteous. They arrived on schedule and finished the project in less than 2 days. Monty is very knowledgeable and the guys that did the building were excellent. They reinforced the deck, replaced 2 of the sides and built a roof with guttering. Can't say enough good things about this company and will absolutely use them again.

I have recently broken my kneecap and was not able to get down the stairs to my basement. It is the only access I have. For years I have been going to get a railing put in here, but since I was not disabled it wasn't really necessary. These stairs were put in in 1955 and were in concrete and not particularly up to code. I have had visitors that have been very unsure of themselves on them. But I just kept forgetting since I did not have a problem. Monty Shelton and his crew put in an extremely well made railing with 4" x 4" posts and a bottom rail of 2" x 4" and a top rail of 2" x 6". It seems this surpasses the code, and I believe an elephant could hang on to it and feel secure. I also had a very rickety step leading off my porch. It was supposed to just be a tempory solution, but 15 years later I had not done anything about it either. They installed a very well made step that was also up to code and tied it in to the railing and is actually attached to the porch.. So it also looks very nice. His 2 man crew arrived before their appointed time and got right to work. They worked well together and left my property clean. There is no doubt I would use them again.

We had a leak in the ceiling of our 2nd floor bedroom. The roof leaked and water came through causing damage to the ceiling. I tried to fix it but was harder than I thought. They came out and repaired the ceiling. The "popcorn" texture was hard to match but they used some tricks to get it close. I was happy with the work because I tried myself and understood it would be a tricky job

Overall, our experience with Smart Repairs has been excellent and we will certainly be using them again and again in the future. Monty is not kidding when he says that they come to your home and treat it as if it were their own. During his first visit he did a very thorough walk-thru inspection and pointed out issues and concerns he saw and would address if it were his home. Many of them were things that could be taken car of very inexpensively if addressed early and not allowed to linger. Monty is very knowledgeable of every aspect of home maintenance and remodeling and his guys have great expertise in each of their respective trades. If you need any maintenance or remodeling work done at you home, don't hesitate to call Smart Repairs - you will get quality results at a very reasonable price and you'll have a partner you can rely on whenever any maintenance or remodeling issue arises with your home.

We were in need of remodeling our kitchen a little bit mainly for the purpose of making it look better by installing a cookware hanging metal rack. They came over on the following day of our call, very prompt, took a look at the area where the job was supposed to be performed, and gave us the estimate. This company has professional people working in their specific fields, such as painters, electricians, masons, carpenters, etc., all of them showing up at the work place in a timely manner and the kind of work they do is almost excellent. We loved the way they installed the new light fixtures and how nice the walls look now they were repainted. We did like the fact that the job was finished up right on the day they had told us as long as how attentive, professional and witty Monti is (their boss). You'll never get bored when chatting with him! They had also done previous good work for us : they built an addition to our laundry room with the purpose of converting it into our current mudroom, which was a job that at this time we won't refer to, but if any information in regard to that is requested, we'll be happy to share it.

I had an old deck on the side of the house that was deteriorating and needed replaced. Smart Repairs did a great job on the deck and stairs on my home. Monty was very prompt coming out to give with the estimate, the price was fair and the work was exceptional. He is extremely conscientious that the job is completed right and to the customer's complete satisfaction. They hauled away the old decking and after finishing the job cleaned everything up completely. I highly recommend them and will be calling them again whenever I need work done.

We noticed a water stain on the bedroom ceiling. The wife looked up roofers on Angie's List. We decided to call Smart Repairs. Monty the owner said they were really booked due to all the bad weeather that week. But he knew it was important to replace those 6 or 8 shingles in case more bad weather rolled in. Two of his men finished another job early and came to our place that afternoon. Within an hour they replaced the shingles. The job normally costs $125. But because the workmen used some new shingles we had stored in the garage, the cost was only $96. The workmen were very nice / polite.

Fantastic! They did great work. We needed the work done the weekend before Christmas, and Monty made it happen! They came out and did an estimate. Did the work as described. Due to weather, they did have to come back to seal and paint the wood that was replaced.

I called Monty, the owner of the company and made an appointment to replace two doors. He never showed up and never bothered to call. I few days later I called him back and he said he had lost my phone number. Again, I made another appointment and again, he did not show up or bothered to call. Very unprofessional!

Great! They came out pretty much as soon as we called and then we scheduled the work for the next day and they came, fixed and left.

I was not at home for the week they repaired it, my father supervised a little. When I returned they explained what they had done and the sturdiness of the repair. I was a little surprise at the size of the posts as they are quite large. But the roof looks good!

We found it easier to work with them, than with the three prior contractors with whom we have worked. The initial visit was pleasant -- Monty and Greg arrived on time, and patiently listened to our thoughts and wishes about several projects. They gently guided us to start with the jobs which they felt were most important for the house, and for our daily life, and we found them to be right! They were responsive to our preferences/wishes, but also helpful in providing their own insights and expertise. They also drew up blueprints for a larger job which we are thinking about pursuing within the next 6 months. I was particularly impressed with how straightforward Monty was in all communications. Monty was precise in describing and documenting the details of what was included in the work, and provided a written format for us to take notes while 'living' with the remodel for several weeks, to then give them feedback on any features we might find not quite right -- this was included in each job, and serves as a quick form of 'satisfaction guaranteed'. They were professional and friendly, and worked quickly and without excessive noise or intrusion. We will definitely hire them for other jobs.

Smart Repairs was recommended by my roofer. Monty Sheldon appeared to be very professional. I am knowledgeable myself as I am an architect. He quoted number of projects for me, but the main one concerned painting/staining actually, my cedar siding chimney and sides of some shed roof structures on the main roof. I needed to have this done before the end of the painting season. As above, I signed a contract and a date and rain date were set on the calendar. I have an email with the detailed information. It rained the night before the first date, so we needed to move to the rain date. When it arrived (2 days after the original date) Monty must have been busy elsewhere and made up some sort of story about the high humidity - which doesn't really exist, nor does it affect the paint/stain as clarified by my paint store - I purchased the paint myself. Now I have less than a month and not a great many dates, since I am traveling this month, to get this done by a more professional contractor. I am very irritated with Smart Repairs and would NEVER call them again. I am not sure Monty knows what he is really talking about regarding paint. The product, which I showed him is a Cabot acrylic product and says that on the can. Monty kept getting confused about oil based products, which are called alkyd (requires different temperatures) which this product is not. I clarified that with Monty several times. I am an architect, so I know these things but a less informed homeowner may not. Just one other episode that might be instructive. I had asked Monty, after he gave me the first proposal, to give me a price to paint the front of my carport, since they would already be there to paint the chimney etc. A small area of square footage, but it is tall - requires a ladder. He gave me what I considered to be a very high price. My neighbor agreed that it was a very high price. I told Monty that I could not afford that price and would probably find a way to do it myself. When we spoke today about the fact that he was not coming on the rain date, he said something to the effect of: "You live in that expensive area of town and you should be able to afford to pay us to paint your carport." I replied "Where I live and how I spend my money is none of your business". Can you imagine a contractor saying this to you? Neither can I. Don't call this guy.

These guys were actually enthusiastically referred by a roofer who had worked with them in the past and was impressed with their commitment to getting the job done right. As soon as I spoke with Monty on the phone, I knew these were the right guys for the job. After a 20 minute conversation, we agreed that Monty would have his guy (Jim) at our place by 9:00 a.m. the NEXT day. You could have set your watch by this guy. He hit the ground running........... surveyed the damage, and got busy. He worked relentlessly (taking NO breaks), until the task was complete. As he was cleaning up and loading his tools back in the truck, I spotted an area on the opposite side of the porch that I had previously overlooked. When I pointed it out to Jim, he immediately went to work with the same level of enthusiasm and diligence that he had previously shown,...................... and for a nominal fee ......... repairs were completed in a relatively short period of time. If all businesses were as committed to customer satisfaction and excellence as these guys, there would be no need for Angie's List. I have owned multiple businesses. The ONLY thing it takes to be truly successful in business is to provide better service than is expected, and do it for a reasonable fee. These guys excel at both. Before you make a half dozen calls and begin the sorting out process.,................. do yourself a favor and make ONE call to Smart Repairs............. you will NOT be disappointed!

Prompt and responsive. Monty and Jim are a good team. They made good suggestions and will come back to do more work for us. Make sure you have enough time for Monty since he's a good conversationalist and likes to explain all the intricacies of the job to be done.
