Nicholson's Complete Lawn Care

Please note that this company is no longer operated by Steve Nicholson. It seems that he sold to one of his employees, and the paperwork side of things is now a mess. They attempted to bill me for site visits prior to me taking possession of my current home. To make things worse, the lady in the office (i.e. the girlfriend of the guy who bought the company) was extremely unprofessional and accused me of lying. There are too many other quality lawn services in the area to bother with this one.

Excellent work. Only problem I had was on one occasion they failed to show up as scheduled. This would never keep me from utilizing their services again. Would highly recommend.

I ordered the mulch last fall and had to call and remind them of the delivery several times. They did not deliver the mulch until my plants were blooming and 18-20 inches high. They did not ring my door bell to tell me they were there. I asked them to write their names down on paper and they did not do it. They spread the mulch using a shovel all over my flowers, bent the flowers down and broke them. They did not spread the mulch around my plants but instead on top. They came in the morning, worked for a couple hours and then left for lunch and did not come back until 3:30pm. They did not send me good workers. You are supposed to survey your work, not leave broken flowers. I tried to complain but the manager does not answer his phone. On the plus side, they do know how to shape. Even though the tool did not seem sharp enough due to shreds at the end of the branches, the shaping was done very well.

The driveway was covered with 1 1/2 inches of ice. He put 3 bags of Ice Melt on it and the following day we were able to use our snow blower to get rid of whatever slushy ice remained. Well done Stephen! We appreciated the fast service.

I think that Steve's crew does a good job (usually in/out in less than 15 - 20 minutes) but not any better than others that work in this neighborhood - I feel that he is overpriced for the service that we have gotten. He promised that my lawn would look spectacular by springtime - well it's still a work in progress. His crew has yet to do any cutting back of the shrubs which we requested to be done last year but I guess they forgot. I plan to use another service knowing that they won't be a full service lawn company. Most of the chemicals that they use can be purchased and since my lawn is less than 1/2 acre, I don't think it'll be a big deal getting it on the grass.

I am resubmitting a review that was incorrectly reported on Angie's List. Don't know whether it was my omission or the website's fault, but I wanted to reiterate what a fine company Mr. Nicholson has and how professional and complete their work has been in the two times I have used their services. Mr. Nicholson is very polite and professional and wonderful to check after the work was done that it was completed satisfactorily. I would not hesitate to hire Nicholson's Complete Lawn Care Service again.

From start to finish the job, from my vantage point, went extremely well. I called Nicholson Lawn Care because I read reviews on Angie's List. Steve happened to be free due to inclement weather & came by within 30 minutes. He spent a lot of time with me & is extremely personable, knowledgeable, & professional. He quoted me a fair price & promised to do the job as soon as the weather allowed. Normally, I would blow the leaves myself. I have a professional, heavy duty blower & actually enjoy the job, however, this year I could not do the job myself so reluctantly I hired Nicholson's Lawn Service. I am so happy I did & may have to sell my blower. I could never do the professional job that Steve's crew did. I would hire Nicholson's Lawn Care without hesitation in the future.

Steve was very professional in the performance of the job. He is an excellent communicator and we were never left wondering if or when the job would be done. It took more than day to complete the job and he called at all the right times to let us know when he'd be coming. I wish all our providers were as good at that as he is. First rate job. Reasonable cost. No regrets. We'll definitely use his services again.

They did an absolutely wonderful job for a price that was at the low end of the estimate. Steve was very considerate to call in advance and show up promptly. They spent about six hours and the yard looks wonderful. He also explained a marvelous plan to maintain our back yard in the future to prevent the sort of build up that had occurred--all in a very low key manner. I recommend him and his very professional crew as highly as I can.

EXCELLENT! He and his crew did an amazing job and hauled all the underbrush away. I can't express how great Steve is and the work he performs. He's honest and does great work! I will definitely be using them again!

Trying to maintain 1.5+ acres has become more challenging so we looked for a service that we could rely on to do what we needed, when we needed it. As my husband as been known as both the Lawn Ranger and the Sod Father, there is high standard for quality and professional service. We contacted Steve who came out that day and spent as much time as we needed to walk the entire property and discuss our needs. Then he told us, in a very clear and honest manner, what his company does, how work is priced, what type of equipment he uses, and answered every question we could throw at him. We asked him to put together a proposal for our review which he e-mailed within a day. It was very exacting in its detail regarding what would be done and when over the 12 month period including application of fertilizers, pruning, etc.. The ultimate goal is to keep the property presentable and in good shape all the time - year round. The cost is spread evenly over the 12 months which makes budgeting easier for us. Nicholson's began caring for our property two months ago and we are very happy so far. As promised, they have begun to work on things like the pruning and shaping of our trees and shrubs. Steve creates his schedules knowing that bad weather is inevitable and leaves room to make sure he can get to all his clients even if it isn't on the "regular" day. Best of all, we don't have to worry about coming home from time away and finding overgrown conditions. We can't wait for Fall and being able to enjoy the color instead of agonizing over leaf removal. We love our home and know that having this service will keep us in it for years to come.

Over a period of 3 days (mostly due to rain) it took Steve's crew over 12 hours to trim back all of the overgrowth and weeds that had accumulated over a period of years. They gave us back something that looks more normal now than before. We can actually see what bushes and trees we have in the yard. It was pretty bad before they started. We expect to continue our relationship with his company. He is very professional but explains what is needed and seems to know how to cure the ailments of a neglected lawn. We also have a drainage issue which he and I think we can solve and the cost seems reasonable.

Within the first few months, 3 plants had to be replaced. In the first year, 14 plants had to be replaced. When I approached Mr. Nicholson, he said that the cold winter was an "act of God" and therefore, the gentleman that he subbed the planting to, was not going to replace them. I informed him that we contracted with him (Mr. Nicholson), and therefore he was responsible. He said that he would not. As he was performing work on the lot next to ours, he would not even come over and look at the dead plants. We contacted various landscaping businesses in the area. They indicated that their policy is to replace all non-surviving plants within the first year. I can only suggest that if anyone decides to hire Nicholson's Complete Lawn Care for installation of various shrubs and plants, to definitely get in writing that he will replace any defective plantings within the first year. I should note that when the project was started, the sub informed us that normally within the first year, 15% of plantings do not survive. Overall, Mr. Nicholson did not act in a professional manner.

I was impressed how quickly the work was done, and how well they managed to clean up a couple of areas that had more than a years worth of leaves piled in them. They gave me several quotes on other jobs that we need done (we're doing reno work on the inside and outside of our home in prep for selling in the future). We'll be using them for some other work this summer/fall. Overall, not the best price that I was quoted for work, but they seemed to be the most professional. We've had issues in the past with folks not being able to deliver what they promise, and these guys gave me the feeling they would be able to provide the level of service they state. To me, that is worth paying for, even if its not bottom dollar (this is pretty much always the case with home maintenance though).

Steve is responsible for maintaining our lawn; since mulching was not included in our contract, we asked him to mulch it this year. The mulch was perfect, contained no large pieces of bark. His crew completed the job promptly and the driveway was left clean. Highly recommend this business and will always ask him to do any landscaping or extra yard work first before we contact any other business.

Although Complete Lawn Care has taken care of all my lawn, trees, and shrubs for about 2-1/2 years, this is the first time I've asked them to mulch the beds. Steve's team delivered the mulch around 8:00 a.m. -- right on schedule -- and they worked hard all day and the next to finish the job of spreading it just the way I wanted over my very large garden. They worked steadily, and they didn't waste any time. Then they cleaned up when they left, and now the garden looks like a picture! They did an excellent job, and I'm completely satisfied. Steve's estimate was reasonable, and the price was fair. Steve Nicholson is honesty itself, and he is an excellent communicator. He takes genuine pride in the properties that he maintains, and his crew are dependable and courteous. He sees what needs to be done, and he acts proactively if there is a need. Even though he doesn't "play favorites," when he has been able to reschedule without negatively impacting others, he has graciously rearranged his schedule to accommodate a special request of mine. I respect that attitude of fairness. Complete Lawn Care is much more than "Mow, Blow and Go," and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants a knowledgeable, professional, and reliable lawn service. When I met with Stephen he was very honest and easy to talk to. He knew exactly what we needed and listened to all our concerns. We are extremely happy with his professionalism and it shows in his work.

We are very pleased with Steve's professionalism and integrity. On one occasion a rock hit by one of his yard tools shattered one of our patio doors. He immediately called me to let me know what had happened and arranged to have our door replaced the next day. It is nice to know that he cares about doing the right thing!

Nicholson Complete Lawn Care has taken care of our lawn and landscaping for 3 years. Workers are very courteous and professional. We have 2 dogs and they are very careful only to use chemicals in the areas requested. Very knowledgeable about plantlife and lawn care. No other contacts for price comparison but seems very reasonable and explains it all. Referred to us by our realtor before we moved in. Excellent choice

Started on 12/12/12 finished that same day came in went right to work!!

He uses faster mowers and mows high in order to keep the lawn healthy, though the result is not as clean as when I did it myself. His services are more modern as he opts to prune shrubs in circular shapes. His quality is alright but not as strong as others in the industry.
