I dealt with the owner. It was awesome, fantastic. He was on time. He was punctual. They had to make templates. Their granites were spot on. They were wonderful. They were very reputable and easy to work with.

David Lowrie, Director of Sales at Stone by Design, handled our countertop replacement from beginning to end with skill and professionalism. I did a lot of research before choosing Stone by Design. I, read reviews on Angies list first.. Their reputation is well deserved. I visited Stone by Design after the countertop job was measured by David.The business at 1115 Spartina Drive off Hwy 101 in Beaufort is impressive. David showed us literally hundreds of slabs of granite . I believe that they have nearly 2,000 slabs to view. The biggest problem we had with David was he tried to sell us a much more pricey piece of granite than he had bidded on.There were not too many slabs that matched our floor/cabinets that was priced according to his bid.He was constantly saying"This is only $1000.00 more or $1500.00 more,etc".He also kept saying "You need to get what you want;this is a one time thing"We felt a little pressured to choose a more expensive slab. We did set up a date once we chose a slab.David did not contact us to verify.We had to call him each time.The origional date had to be changed once. David did arrive on time and did an excellent job.We were concerned about a couble of holes in the wall when he ripped out the old countertop,but the backplate covered them.David did forget to load one small piece of backplate but returned the next day to install it.Again we had to call to get a time. David did make the arrangement with a plumber to hook up the new facet and complete the plumbing job.We dealt directly with the plumber afterwards and had no problems. We love the new granite countertop.We are happy with the job from Stone by Design except the communication problem and the attempt to sell us a more expensive granite slab

Selection was made at the plant. Measurements taken on the remodel site... pattern made on site. Finished edges per our selection. Installed on schedule and on budget. Installed sink and cooktop. Did not provide electrical hook-up for cooktop, however did provide plumber service for sink/faucet/disposal installation.

In several places I visited, I was told that Stone by Design is excellent. Their reputation is well deserved. I then got quotes from some of the top granite installers in the area. I believe that they have nearly 2,000 slabs to view. I don?t chose contractors by price. I want the best job, but it was an added bonus that the quote David gave us was the lowest. Selecting my countertop was a difficult decision. I wanted something beautiful since the kitchen can be seen from every public room in the house. I was torn between quartz and granite. I visited Stone by Design three separate times trying to make up my mind and David came to our house twice prior to the installation. He was infinitely patient, and I did not feel any pressure. David said "we want you to be happy with what you get." I am more than happy, I am thrilled. There were no surprises. The installation took one day and is perfect. David gave us several options for sinks and supplied a plumber for the hook-ups. We paid exactly what David quoted and the countertops are stunning. I have done several remodels, one a complete kitchen in a previous home, and I have never been so pleased with a contractor.

Very smoothly

My neighbors had used them first. Later, I used them. The guy did a good job. He came in right on budget. He charged me what he had quoted. I was really surprised when he came out with only one man for assistance. The granite was cut properly. I had no problems with them. He installed my dishwasher in a way that I thought it should not have been done. However, when I talked to a friend of mine who had 17 houses, she told me that sometimes it was done that way. He drilled it into the cabinets sideways through the holes in the front of the dishwasher. It doesn?t impact the water line. After he had left, I realized what had been done. I thought he had done the job incorrectly. I was a little negative about him on that score. However, I have since learnt that his method was an alternative way of doing it. He had quoted me $2600. It was the best price given to me. It ended up costing $2800, but I had more footage than he had quoted me for. I also had a backsplash put on. The only difference in price was owing to the extra granite that I had requested for. I was very pleased with his job. He had more selection in granite. His yard had many slabs of granite. He kept pulling out granite for me so that I could look at them. So, I had so many choices and I decided to use him for the job. He also threw in a free double sink with the countertops. I didn?t have any problems with him and his work. He told me that it would take 5 days from the date of placing the order to the time of the granite being ready. The date of installation was to be 5 days later. He stuck to the timelines. He was very punctual and professional. He had to shimmy one stretch of the long stretch of cabinets to do other things to it. He pointed it out to me, but I didn?t find it later. He said that he would have normally raised the cabinets, but as I have a floating floor, he was afraid that it would have impacted the floor. So, he did it the other way and I was very happy about it. When he initially came out to give me a quote, he was doing another job in town, in a house that wasn?t occupied. He invited me over to see the job that he was doing there. I thought it was a good thing. I will use him again in the future.

It took only one week from the time we got the cost estimate to completion of the counter tops! I thought we would choose the granite from a small sample board but we were able to choose from over 80 actual slabs of granite at their place of business. The choices were totally awesome and it took me two visits to decide on my choice. The workers were prompt, quick and tidy. The cost of this project was the lowest estimate of the three businesses we contacted and it could not have been a betterchoice. I am so in love with counters! AAA+++
