East Coast Curbing

READ THIS BEFORE YOU "HIRE" THIS COMPANY!!!! Mr Glenn Tillman (East Coast Curbing/Tillman Landscaping/Tillman Border Magic) agreed with us on a contract (complete with a $150 deposit) on 06 April. He quoted us a great price and told us that he would call in 3 weeks to set up a time to complete the work a week later. After 4 weeks of waiting, I called and he informed me that they were running behind and would need another 2 weeks (6 weeks after the contract). I agreed and we waited...and waited. 8 weeks after contract I began calling Mr Tillman and receiving only his answering machine. After dozens of messages and weeks of calling. Mr Tillman finally returned my call (10 weeks after contract) and informed me that he would be able to do the work the next day. He came by our house and dropped off his concrete truck and said he would come by in the morning (Tuesday - I took off of work to be there while he did the work). Needless to say, Mr Tillman did not show up the next day and on top of that removed our landscaping blocks (64 Castle Stones) while we were at work the NEXT day (Wednesday). After attempting to reach him the next 5 days (never actually talking to him) we warned him that we were going to the police. We finally heard back from him and told him that we weren't going to use his services anymore. He immediately informed us that we weren't going to get our deposit back and that "it would be easier to do the work". We agreed to meet one more time at our house in attempts to get our money back and after telling me he was going to be over 45 minutes late because he didn't want to lose "his spot at the DMV" we agreed to stick to our guns and not use his services (even though he still had our landscaping blocks). Once again we agreed to meet the next day simply to get our landscaping blocks back and to our surprise, we received a text message from him at 11pm stating that we would have to sign a statement saying that we agreed to pay him our $150 deposit to remove our blocks (untrue). After informing him that I would not sign anything stating such falsities, I let him know that we were going to the police. The next day, we filed a police report and had his equipment towed. After receiving a call from the wrecking company that Mr Tillman was there to pick up his equipment and was being "unruly" and "causing a scene", I had the police officer call them to resolve the matter. That night when I returned home, Mr Tillman had returned all 64 landscaping blocks by throwing them in our front yard (breaking 2 of them). That is the last contact we have had with this company and since then we have signed up on here and saw the other reviews of them as well. In addition, my wife called the Border Magic Headquarters in Indiana and found out that they have taken Mr Tillman to both state and federal court numerous times trying to get him to stop using the Border Magic name! Overall Mr Tillman is a young kid who comes from money that doesn't undersand the qualities of a good business. His communication is HORRIBLE and his punctuality is even worse. Although his prices may be good, his work is shotty and his business skills are as evidenced above. BEWARE!!!!

This was the worst experience I have ever encountered from a contractor!!! I paid half of the money up front on March 10th 2011 and was told the work would be completed in 2 weeks. He never showed up andI I had to call constantly and he would never return my calls. I eventually left a message asking for my money back and he finally came to start the work. He apparently completed the work April 22nd. He left his trailer and equipment parked in front of my house and told me he would be back the next day to get it and remove the plastic from the curbing and check it. The plastic was put over the curbing because it was raining when he was completing the job which I was not happy about.. When I removed the plastic I was not happy with the work around my air conditioner area so I called him and expressed my concern about the work and asked if he could come fix it and remove his trailer from the front of my house. He did not show up the next day like he told me he would so I called him once again and he did not answer or return my call. I called the next day still no answer or return of my call. I finally got in touch with him 4 days later and told him if he did not come to remove his trailer I was calling to have it towed. I also put a stop payment on the other portion of payment until the work was completed. I did not trust him ever to come back after his unresponsiveness. He then proceeded to tell me he was coming to my house with the sherrif and hung up on me. He then came to my house around 6.30 in the evening and started working on the curbing without letting me know he was there. I then received a voice message from him telling me that he was out at my house and sealed the curbing and it looks great. He said if I did not call him back the next day he was going to get a warrant to have me arrested for writing a worthless check . The check was in no way worthless, I put a hold on the check because he had not completed the work . This has been the worst experience I have ever encounter. The man has no customer service skills, is rude and totally unreliable! Please never ever use this company.!!!!

Overall the work performed was acceptable but the customer service was unacceptable. We had signed a contract to have concrete curbing installed and yard maintenace done. They started the work on 3/21/11 and we cancelled it on 3/25/11. The company is very unreliable and unresponsive to phone calls. They would come out one day and not the next. It would be one excuse after another, the owner is a very young egotistical man who is not professional and knows nothing about customer service. I would not reccomend this company to anyone.
