A - Z Appliance and Plumbing

I had an appointment but he didn't show, it was rescheduled. When I called to find out where he was on the day of the second appointment, I was told he was enroute to another job in another city. The woman called him and he turned around and kept the appointment with me, although he was obviously late. He installed the heater and was supposed to come back to finish installing the drainage hose so as to insure I would not have another leak inside the house. He never did.

Brent at A - Z Appliance and Plumbing was contacted by my Home Warranty Company to repair my leaking hot water heater. He made an appointment to come to look at it so I took the afternoon off from work. (Strike 1, but I gave him this one because no contractor can make a definite appointment because of possible problems at a job they are at before coming to my job.) He never came that day but did come the following (Friday) morning. I was told the hot water heater needed to be replaced. He quoted my an estimated price. Meanwhile, no hot water (don't forget, now it's Saturday. :( On Monday, I made another appointment to have the water heater replaced. I received a breakdown of the cost of the materials and was required to pay them prior to the purchase and service. I was not comfortable with that, it is very unusual in my experience, to have a contractor require payment BEFORE anything is done, but I was desperate to move forward. Again I took time off from work but Brent did not come for the appointment. I contacted his office number, spoke to the woman who made the appointment, and was told that he was enroute to another city! I insisted she reach him and redirect him to keep the appointment that she made and told her to call me back immediately. Several minutes passed, so I called my HWC to complain; they called and spoke to the woman who finally returned my call while I was making my complaint to the HWC, so she left a voice message. She was quite irate that I had made the complaint to the Home Warranty Company. Finally, well over an hour after the appointment time, he showed up. He then told me that I had another option for the placement of the water heater...that would have been important information to have BEFORE it was too late! Long story short, he finally installed the hot water heater. (Yay) But he was not able to finish the part of the installation that included placing the tubing from the heater to the exterior of the house so that if it leaks in the future, the water would not destroy the flooring. That was 3 months ago. The work was never completed, two appointments were made that were not kept, I was asked to "up-front" the money for the materials and the labor, and he only provided me another option after the new heater was in the house ready to be installed. On a side note, this man also works on appliances. He has been to my home twice in recent years and the service performed was fine. I don't know what the problem(s) are now, I can't help but wonder if this is because he was working under the company holding my Home Warranty, but that is how he was hired in the past. My HWC has my complaint.
