They cracked the ceiling in my den. They also came through my ceiling in my kitchen and dining room which is an irreplaceable ceiling that can't be found anymore. I explained to them how important it was too be careful and not go through the ceiling and they ended up damaging my ceiling and they are now ignoring me. I'm upset that they are being unresponsive for coming out or at least contacting me about the issue but more than anything I'm upset that this is not a ceiling I can have replaced with the same design and that I am inconvenienced with being put on hold for other projects.
Description of Work: Installed insulation in my attic.

I had bought Angie's deal for evaluation in 2013 and received a quote for the above work, but was unable to have it done at that time. Called James Moore again Jan 2015, he rechecked the house and gave a new quote, work was arranged for 2-13-15. He and 2 workers arrived promptly at 9am and worked until 4 pm. Cleaned up all areas they could. They could not work on all the popcorn stuff that had fallen off the ceiling, as they went completely throughout the attic. Everything seems to be as expected, now waiting to check energy bills for improvements. Hard to tell what that will be, since we got a new furnace and AC Nov 2014. Definitely less air whistling in. Also, the Duke Energy rebate was received 3 weeks after work was done !!!
Description of Work: Performed airflow test prior to work. Sealed all intrusions from attic, built insulated hatch for attic pull-down stairs, reinstalled vertically placed insulation, built baffles to keep blown insulation away from soffit vents, blew insulation into attic to R42 rating. Sealed pipe intrusions under sinks and from garage. Replaced door seals on front door and door from garage. Installed door sweep inside front door to block air. Performed airflow test after completion, significant reduction. Took pictures and submitted details to Duke Energy to request partial rebate.

I was not impressed by it, but I didn't feel like following up on it. There was no additional charge. It seemed to me like they didn't expect to have the stuff that they were going to. They were professional and they were there when they said they were going to be. The price was very good that I actually had to subscribe to it.

The review and informative. The individual understood his business and answered all of my questions regarding current level of insulation and options to improve the insulation level. However, this is basically what I would have expected as a free review and quote for an insulation job. I also thought the inspections was to be a whole house inspection and not just the attic. So, no problem at all with the quality of the inspection, I just felt it was paying for a quote. I did not have the insulation replaced.

They were punctual, courteous, professional and just good people to work with.
Description of Work: After coming out to perform an energy survey of the attic [which was a dismal R-12], they came back [in short order] and sealed the entire attic ceiling surface [to include solar tubes, recessed lights and exhaust fans with non expanding foam and baffled all soffit vents], built 'caps' for both entrances, and sprayed 10" of insulation to bring me up to R-38. |

After having some trouble getting him to call me back to schedule a time, John arrived on-time and was very polite. This was supposed to be an attic and crawlspace inspection and some of the listed items in the Angie's List Big Deal coupon were: measure depth of insulation, calculate R value I have and need, recommend adding or fixing baffles, and inspect under-side of roof for water damage. But, all he did was pop his head into the attic. He couldn't see most of the baffles or the roof from there even with the small flashlight that I had to loan him. Again with the crawl space, all he did was barely enter it in the corner and there is very limited visibility of the rest from there. As he was leaving, he said that he would write up a report (which is also one of the services included in the coupon) that same day and send it to me. I waited about a week and called him back to say that I had not received the report yet. He acted like it must have gotten lost in email so he was going to call me back later that day to confirm but I never heard from him again.

I spoke with two company representatives to 1. to acknowledge the purchase of the deal and 2. to schedule the inspection at my house. Once the day of the inspection came and went, I noticed shortly thereafter that my purchase was credited back to my card. I never was informed as to why the appointment was cancelled.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It didn't turn out that great. They said they were going to give me this really expensive home technical evaluation on whether my house was leaking energy. I was remodeling the house so I wanted to get it done. They acted like it was $350 and they were going to let me have it for $50. Basically I paid $50 for a sales pitch. He was a nice enough guy. He poked his head up in the attic and looked under the house and said that I needed some insulation. It wasn't anything I couldn't have done. There was no infrared equipment; it was strictly eyeballing under the house. He didn't go under the house or into the attic. They gave me a whole list of things I could do from insulation to reworking the work vapor. Quite frankly some of the stuff I needed and I didn't think the price sounded way out of whack. I never heard anything from them. I called and they said something about changing employees and they would get a formal estimate, which they eventually did. I didn't have any work done with them. I was expecting a $350 inspection for $50 and it was far short of that. The guy was punctual when he showed up. The guy was professional acting, he just didn't do anything professional. The price for the work sounded reasonable, which sort of surprised me.

They came out and looked in the attic and did a house air pressure test. I thought they would walk through the attic and check to make sure exhaust fans were not blocked (per the description of the special) but they just spent a minute or two in the attic. And because of how the attic is built they could not have even seen the whole thing from where they were standing. They then sent me a quote for a couple thousand dollars to improve energy efficiency. When I asked them how much energy savings I would get they gave me a general % that came out to a payback period of 20 years. I feel I paid them $49. for a qoute.

He was very thorough and professional. He made some good recommendations but I am not able to afford the work right now. Hope to spray foam insulation on the underside of our attic roof in the next couple of years. I did not realize that this was an option.
Description of Work: Went through my home from basement to attic and suggested ways to better insulate. Although the information was appropriate and he seemed knowledgeable, I felt that the service should have been offered for free since it was an opportunity to come into my home, determine exactly what I need and/or want and sell it to me.

Purchased Big Deal on Angie's List for AppleBlossom Energy to do a complete Attic Energy and Ventilation Inspection, cost was $49. After a little back and forth to setup the appointment, the owner of the company, John Meeks, did come out. He was nice and professional, however he basically just did what I would consider the same type of thing that would occur in an onsite estimate for this type of work, something typically free and not $49. The Big Deal detailed out some specifics they would do including "AppleBlossom Energy will install R-30 batten insulation over access cover (maximum two) and will re-secure any existing baffles in the attic over intake vents, if needed", however no insulation was added over access covers despite us seeing several access doors w/o insulation, and the baffles were never mentioned and I was with the person the whole time. The big output of this was supposed to be a detailed assessment report of your attic insulation and home ventilation with a quote for work suggested to address issues. The specifics in the Bid Deal were: "AppleBlossom Energy will enter the attic and do a complete inspection to include the following: ?Measure the depth of insulation ?Calculate the R value you currently have in attic ?Calculate the additional R value needed to meet North Carolina Building Codes ?Recommend the amount required to meet the Department Of Energy ?Inspect crawl space ?Recommend adding or re-attaching the existing baffles ?Inspect Bathroom fans, exhaust pipes, can lights, for proper installation ?Inspect the under side of roof deck for water damage ?Inspect exhaust vents to assure they meet code and are not blocked ?Inspect intake vents to assure they meet code and are not blocked ?Calculate ventilation to meet 1/300 min code ?Provide a written inspection report ?Provide a written estimate on any additional work needed" It has been two months since the onsite meeting, and I have not heard from this company since. No report, no follow-up saying the report is coming, absolutely nothing. I think this whole thing was a scam to collect X times $49 from the host of people that responded to the "Big Deal". The only reason I am not giving this company an "F" is they did come out and the guy was nice but in the scope of getting what I paid for, total fail. Angie's List needs to arbitrate refunds in this type of situation as this is obviously not an isolated incident with this provider. Several other reviewers describe the same experience with this "Big Deal" which was really a "Big Flop".

Arrived ten minutes later than specific appointment time but had called to notify of delay. Neat and clean. Very honest- did not try to sell things not needed. Explained alternative insulations in thorough manner. A good price for a qualified review of a portion of the home often ignored until leaks or other issues occur.

He was very thorough. Part of the Big Deal, according to the printout, was supposed to be an installation of insulation on the access covers to the attic. Scott didn't know anything about that and apologized for the confusion. I wasn't confused. Apparently, whoever made up this deal over--offered for the 49.00. So, it wasn't done, but on the proposal for the work to be done he included the access insulation at no charge. I will call them to do the work when I'm ready. He seems to know what he's talking about and he sent the specs of the recommended insulation to my husband as requested. He came, he inspected, he told us what we should do; he followed up with a proposal for work to be done.

We recently bought a new house and noticed that it was difficult to cool the upstairs on hot and sunny days, so I had Apple Blossom come out to offer some solutions. The man arrived on time and was cordial and professional. He briefly examined the attic and made some recommendations. In the end, we did not go forward with his advice, because after a few weeks in the new house it became clear what the true problem was, and it was not the attic, but some knee walls in the bonus room above the garage. This was not entirely his fault, because I did not ask him to examine that room, but at the same time he did not spend very much time on his investigation, especially since it was a paid energy audit service (not a free estimate). He was in and out in about 10 minutes tops, and so did not truly discover the root of the problem. That being said, they were a professional operation and I would probably turn to them again if/when I needed work done.

They emailed me the day after I purchased it and I told them I was not ready to have the services done. It took me awhile to actually get to talk to somebody but once I did we set up an appointment. We had to reschedule because the employee who does the inspection was going out of town. The time they wanted to reschedule didn’t work for me but my husband stayed home. They never showed up in the time frame they gave me over the phone and I have not heard anything since. The deal didn’t work out and I was very dissatisfied. They never came out to do the work and I will be getting a refund.
