I was told since the heater was over 30 years old that I might need a new heater, even though the heater was in great, great shape. The reason was the small part might not be available. Well R&K worked to find the part. Not sure how hard it was, BUT they found it. Pretty fast too. I was surprised and of course happy. It only took a week for them to get it also. Wow. They actually worked for me. What a great job. Now that is a true company not out to GET YOU. I recommend them. By the way they were sent by American Home Shield. GREAT companies both

I’ll start by saying that I had service done by R&K based on their selection by my home warranty service provider. I took no part in their selection for service. R&K came out to my house after I made a claim with 1st American Home Warranty due to my upstairs heat pump not cooling my house. It took about 36 hours to get them to my house. They came and conducted a quick diagnosis and determined that my unit needed a new pump, as it was leaking and all of the refrigerant was gone. About two day later I get a call from R&K stating that due to the age of my unit (~13 years old) they recommend to 1st American that my unit needed to be replaced. After waiting another day or so, I called R&K and inquired about the time that they expected the replacement to take. They explained that 1st American is generally slow and that it could take a couple weeks. RI explained to Robert (the owner) that the temperature of my upstairs was in the high 80s and that none of my 4 children that sleep upstairs could withstand that for weeks. Robert quickly told me that he understood and that he would be willing to come put some refrigerant in the system to hold us over for a bit. He did this without charge. (Thanks Robert). That did the trick. We were once again cool. It took my 1st American about 3 weeks to get the unit ordered and delivered! Insane in my opinion., but not R&K’s doing at all. I was put on the schedule about 4 days after the unit arrived. Robert and 2 of his techs came out as scheduled and had the old unit out and the new one in place within a 3.5-hour time span! Very fast and efficient. Now for the “non-covered charges”. I was given a pretty lengthy list of charges that 1st American would not cover. They were: Permit 1 400.00 400.00 Electrician 1 400.00 400.00 Load Calculation 1 500.00 500.00 Digital Thermostat 1 249.42 249.42 Outdoor sensor 1 189.41 189.41 Drain piping 1 89.42 89.42 Unit pad 1 298.50 298.50 Secondary drain 1 198.12 198.12 Float Switch 1 148.92 148.92 Duct Modification 1 250.00 250.00 Total: $2,723.79 As you can see, the charges were heavily overpriced, especially if I were to be choosing my own company and paying out of pocket. Unfortunately, I was stuck in a situation where 1st American gave me this option or a cash-out option. The cash-out option was a complete joke. I did talk to Robert and was able to get him to drop a few of the charges and I was able to walk away with a new 2.5-ton heat pump for just over $2,200 out of pocket. I do understand that 1st American nickel and dimes independent owners such as Robert and that there isn’t a lot of money to be made from them and that the homeowner is the one that needs to foot that bill. Overall, I feel satisfied. I was able to support a local small business and I was able to get a brand new unit installed for about $2,200.

I recently filed a claim with my home warranty company. The home warranty company couldn’t have been less helpful. The only good thing about this claim was that R&K Heating & Cooling was assigned the ticket. Robert, the owner, was extremely understanding of my frustration with my home warranty and worked with me to find the best solution in the most timely manner. The tech, Allen, who came out each time was extremely courteous and professional. I highly recommend R&K and will begin using them for our yearly maintence check.

Our air conditioning quit early spring. They came out and said it was the coil. Ordered coil, replaced and did not work. Didn't want to replace outside unit because they said it had spider webs in it...what...??? Finally replaced outdoor unit thinking now, everything is wonderful. They did not connect condensation tube drain to drain outside, leaving us with water damage and accumulation in ceiling. This was a simple matter of pvc pipe and glue. This ruined ceiling in garage below the tube. This had to be fixed, which by the way is still not right. Ceiling had to be repainted. Now air is set on 73 and inside house is 79. Called again and they refuse to fix it. They will not back their work. This was nothing we did. I do not recommend them. They put the unit in and now will not come back. Wish I had read reviews before they came.........

Very bad experience. Work was scheduled through home warranty company and while they responded quickly and replaced a part, the issue reoccurred 2 days later. After a month of repeat visits, had to switch companies. While the technician who visited the house was extremely professional, he was on the phone with the owner the whole time being talked through the repair. The owner/scheduler Robert's attitude and professionalism are poor. Tech missed an appointment on Friday afternoon due to getting bogged down at one appointment, owner's fix was for us to either put off a trip out of town or reschedule for the following Tuesday. Very flippant attitude about his ability to effectively schedule appointments. He will get there when he feels he can and will not apologize or stretch out to make things right. After four visits by the company over a month, Robert finally washed his hands of the situation, claimed "operator error of the thermostat", and said the warranty company should find another company. Even though his tech double checked the thermostat, schedule, and it hadn't been touched. He never offered to show up himself and do anything. Be very cautious about this company. They might fix it, but you could probably just search YouTube and get the same effect. If it doesn't go to plan, expect to be openly blamed for a nebulous issue that they can't or refuse to fix.

WONDERFUL!!! After about 5 minutes of looking at our A/C unit, the owner told us what the issue was and that it was a quick fix - and fixed it immediately. (this was after 3 weeks of another business that couldn't find rain in a rain storm!)
