 + -1 moreI hired Rainbow Paint to do a wallpapering job. I couldn't find anyone else in this town to do it at the time, and we had a deadline to get the job done for an event. It was obvious the first day that wallpaper hanging is not their specialty - far from it! But I paid a 50% deposit of $400 they asked for. They botched the first two walls - smaller ones - but promised to fix it. We asked that it be taken down. I reordered all the rolls they wasted trying to do whatever it was they were doing, not matching the design! I gave them another chance to finish the job and be paid the rest, but they stood me up twice! When I was able to reach Brandon, I got nothing but excuses. I told him if he didn't do the stand-up thing and return our deposit (I wasn't even asking for the cost of the wallpaper they wasted), I was going public with our story. He claimed he was still owed that money because he had to pay his guys, which was more important than the customer's satisfaction! We wasted over a week because of his lack of service, and in the end had to paint the room ourselves. That took another 3 days because we had to strip both the new and the old wallpaper in the whole lobby in order to paint, something we had hoped to avoid. I hope people read this and decide not to take a chance with their own project and money with Rainbow Paint. My organization was going to give them a bigger job when they finished this one! But we will never do business with them again.

 + -1 moreHe never showed up. The day he was due to come I called and left a message on his voice mail asking where he was. I then called two more times. No answer. Never heard from him again. I would not recommend him.
Description of Work: Brian came to the house to give us an estimate on painting the ceiling in a couple of rooms. He sent us a quote and we called him and made an appointment.

The work was started on the agreed date and completed in the estimated time frame. The quality of the work was excellent. Workers were neat, courteous, and professional in every regard.

 + -1 moreAndy Frith is honest and dependable. His crew performed the service they promised in the time frame referenced. They were at the work site daily (weather permitting) daily until the job was complete. They were clean and curtious. I would defitely use Rainbow again.
Description of Work: Exterior paint to wood trim to the house, all railings, windows and painted my detached workshop.

 + -1 moreI am not a wordy person and believe the info I've given is adequate. I do have a long background in construction and repair and as such , would recommend this business without reservation.
Description of Work: prepped house for sale because we moved. painted entire interior, replaced all carpet, vinyl floor in MBR, pressure washed house and garage, did needed repairs, mowed, cleaned and weeded entire lot[ 1/2 acre]. everything done in a timely manner, great quality and speed. Did not reveal price because that is nobody's business. Having said that the cost was very fair and reasonable. Any minor concerns were quickly and properly addressed.

 + -1 moreHe was professional and did a great job. He was timely and kept his word. He started on time and finished on time. They cleaned up extremely well and moved everything back when finished. I would hire him again for any future painting needs. He and his men were very hard workers and knew exactly what they needed to be done. Not a lot of chit chat or breaks, which is probably why they finished on time.
Description of Work: He painted the entire interior of the house. He patched and sanded where it needed it, where there were cracks and holes.

 + -1 moreAndy was wonderful from start to finish. He showed up at the house, surveyed the project, and quoted a price. The day the job started he arrived with his crew and outlined some instructions with them. When I sneaked a peek around the corner to see how things were going I felt like I'd walked into a "clean room" for a chip processing plant. Everything was covered in plastic to protect my room. The workers did an excellent job, I didn't find any little drops of paint anywhere - very unlike other painters I've used in the past. When the crew was done, Andy came back to check on the job. I especially appreciated the fact that a crew supervisor was introduced to me, and stayed at the site during the work. The finished product is beautiful, and I could not be any happier. I would absolutely recommend Rainbow to anyone, and in fact have several projects coming up that I'm actually looking forward to having done.
Description of Work: Tray ceiling in master bedroom painted to repair water damage from hurricane Irene, and touch up work in bathroom from recent renovation project.

 + -1 moreVery solid company. Great work! Clean, courteous, professional, and most importantly - reliable. One last thing. To me, Rainbow Paint Company has the two most important elements of a professional contractor: 1) Andy is a manager, not a worker. That's not to say he's not a painter (with years of experience). It's only to say he wasn't on the job to DO the work. He was there to oversee it. IMO, this is an important distinction, because the responsibility of completing the work does not rely on him being there. If the person you hire is the person doing the work then that means that if he (or she) is sick or, has an emergency or a personal matter to attend to, then the work being on your job is put on hold. To me, that's simply unprofessional, regardless of how talented the individual who's doing the work may be . 2) They didn't ask for a deposit on the job. I would confidently recommend Rainbow to anyone.
Description of Work: We recently purchased a foreclosure in need of some updates. Nothing complicated: some electrical and plumbing issues, installation of AV equipment throughout the house and some painting of interior walls and ceilings with a variety of colors, egg shell finish. We originally decided to go with another paint company whom our contractor had recommended, but the morning they were supposed to begin the job, they never showed up. Needless to say our contractor, whom I've worked on many projects in the past and whose recommendations I trust completely was understandably embarrassed. We don't forgive unreliability, so we fired his paint company that evening. We called Rainbow Paint Company as well as some other companies a few days later. Andy, with Rainbow, came over to the house. Met with us. Took detailed notes and provided us with a quote that evening. The price was very competitive. The key differentiator was that Andy was very professional, yet friendly and diligent in following up with us. He instilled a sense of security within us, which is rare with many contractors these days. After negotiating on the price a bit (because we had already purchased the paint), we moved forward with Andy and Rainbow. They showed up the first morning at 7am --- right on time! They were careful moving furniture. They taped everything off and covered everything within harm's way. At the end of the day, they cleaned up after themselves and DID NOT wash out in or around our house (a big issue for me). They were consistent throughout the job and actually finished a day early. We found a few flaws (as is typical with painting jobs), reviewed those with Andy and he touched them up the next day --- a true pleasure to work with this company.

 + -1 moreThey did not finish the job and have not answered my phone calls. One day the came by and said they would back the next day. They never showed back up. I have made several attempts to contact them, and have even sent them a certified letter but have never heard back from them. They did the work in January 08, and I haven't heard back from them since. They told me they were going to fix everything, and their ad in the yellow pages states that their work is guaranteed.

 + -1 moreFirst off, it says a lot that Rainbow Paint Company was recommended by one of his competitors (who was unable to meet my deadline). Andy Frith is unique (in a very positive sense). When he came to do the estimate, he didn't measure a thing. When I asked him about it, he said "this isn't rocket science." I shopped around and his estimates were easily in the ballpark (or lower) than his competitors. When I needed to change the work, he quickly generated another estimate. I got into a time crunch (due to an injury) and he was able to work out a solution. His men picked up the key late one day and had done a significant amount of the work by the end of the very next day. The whole job was done within the time frame we had discussed. Honestly, I haven't seen the work yet, but my agent and former builder said the work looks great (and sent some pictures to prove it). To top it all off, Andy has an offbeat but great sense of humor.
Description of Work: Painted front porch railing and columns. Extensive interior wall and cabinet painting. They also did dry wall repairs.
