TruGreen Lawn Care - 5530

My yard has never looked worse in the last 18 months while TruGreen.

Every question I asked I got a different answer from different people. Is it safe for pets? When do I fertilize new sod? Finally asked to speak to a supervisor and was told 24 to 48 hours, after raising a big enough ruckus lo and behold a supervisor came on. Went through our story with supervisor on Wednesday and told someone would contact us before SOD Friday. No call on Friday so cancelled service. Hopefully crediting my card back goes smoothly.

We made appointment, I took off work to meet them there, and they never showed up. Even after a call was made to me to confirm appointment.

They are very reliable. The techs are great. They have very good communication. The only recommendation for to improve would be a bundle services to bring the price down a little bit.

They come every six months to spray and fertilize. They're good. The workers are very nice. They seem to be pretty reasonable.

I'd already signed up this year, 2017, for the 5 applications. The were unresponsive when I called them to set up the first appointment for this year. I spoke with someone initially on 1/31/17 and they told me they'd be out in two days. About 10 days went by and no one had shown up. I ended up cancelling the contract with them. This isn't the first time I've had issues with TruGreen. After one of the applications about two years ago two of my trees died. A manager came out and said it wasn't their fault and I wasn't compensated. I've since had several dead spots in my yard. I lost confidence in their service which is part of the reason I cancelled my contract with them.

We contracted for both the annual lawn care program and the shrub and tree program in March 2016. This review is for the lawn program. The shrub and tree program has worked extremely well. The first couple of lawn treatments were done with minor result. It must be noted that this yard was de-thatched and slit seeded last fall and 250 of premium grass seed from Seedland installed at great expense. When TruGreen was hired, the yard was in really great shape with the occasional weeds and clover. They were able to rid the yard of those two problems, so credit for that. In mid May I notice brown patch starting and called them to have someone come out and look at the yard and treat accordingly, which they said they would do. I took them at their word which was a big mistake. No one came out to inspect and treat and by the time I realized this, the brown patch had spread to a lot of the yard. During this time the regular treatment person came out and confirmed it was brown patch, at which time I again requested treatment for the problem. He fertilized anyway, which I now know was the wrong thing to do because it feeds the fungus. I have cancelled the contract, which was prepaid and have yet to receive a refund of over $1000 and have also seen my $1500 spent last fall to get a good yard go up in smoke. Words cannot express my absolute anger at the incompetence of this company. They are great at marketing and closing the deal, but I did not need a company to through some fertilizer down, which I can do. I needed a company to manage the yard. I have since switched to Lawn Doctor and am actually paying less for people that know their business. Buyer Beware with this company. It has cost me thousands of dollars! ?

Scott's is very efficient with their equipment. Some services are expensive and questionable as to their necessity.

I had them for a couple of years. Their business is supportive of weather. When it rains and the lawn is all nice and wet, it is all great. But when it gets dry it's hard to put a tag on it. Their overall is okay.

Sometimes they come out monthly and sometimes quarterly. It just depends. They come when I'm not here and they don’t have to knock on the door. They just do what they need to do. The cost is $39.95 every time they come but there are extra services that you can get like aeration and seeding service, which is like $175. I've been using them for about two or three years. I pay mostly monthly but it depends on what’s needed. They’ll come out at no extra cost once you see weeds. You can prepay and they say it will save you money. I think they are good. I think I do have areas at my home where the grass doesn't grow very well and I don’t have the sprinkler system. So it’s up to me, if they do irrigation planting, to water the yard. The only thing is to make sure you’ll call them and get them out here when you see weeds or whatever else. I took a lot of estimates. I called a lot of people and talked to a lot of service providers and they came out with the best cost. They are going to do what they are going to do. When they are here, and since I don’t prepay, they always leave the envelope on the door handle with the bill, which is really nice. I like that.

We are in a new development, so half our yard is turf and the other is seeded. Normally I would do this type of work myself. But I figured that I would let them get the lawn where I wanted it, then I would take over. First, we never saw weeds die. Ever (if you don't count the ones I pulled out)! I don't know how many times we called them back out to kill weeds. Never saw any weeds even wilt. When we complained they said we had rocks in our yard. What does rocks in the yard have to do with killing weeds? The only positive for this part of the service was they did come out each time we complained, the only thing is they always did the same thing, expecting different results. The fertilizer did seem to work. We fortunately did not get burn out on lawn. However, I think you could have gotten just as good results using a regular fertilizer from Lowes. When you aerate you lawn, you are suppose to make sure the ground is damp (either its been raining for a couple days or you are suppose to over water your lawn for 3 days). This is to ensure the plugs that the aerator pulls up is between 2 and 3" long. They were suppose to tell us ahead so we could water. We never got a call. They showed up and aerated. On the plus, they did do the whole yard, not missing any spots. However, the plugs were only 1/4" -1/2" long (it had not rained for a week). They then seeded. I decided to go all the way and follow all their directions for watering. Grass started growing in some areas but there were a lot of bare areas. Their advertisement / paper work said that they would come out and reaerate / reseed if you do not see the results. So we call them up, they said ok. When they came out, all they did was fertize the lawn. So overall, our lawn only looks a little better than it did almost a year ago (this isn't saying much). I know I could have done a much better job, and that's only giving it little attention. I would say our lawn looks better probably just because I have been watering it so much. We will be calling soon to make sure it is cancelled. I am not entirely certain if they will "auto renew" for my "convenience." That would not be good. I guess I am giving them a D overall and not an F because they didn't kill the lawn.

Did a great job! One area didn't "take" due to the red clay surface. They came right back and did it and more.

Tru Green is very good. The price is for the year.

It went well. You will need to call to make sure they knock on the door if you would like to talk to them. They leave a nice note with how to contact them with any questions.

But we had to trim budget and lawn care lost. I would use them again.

The service was great we were able to tell a big difference in the appearance of our lawn after the service was performed.

The service part and the technical part are going well. I'm currently having some bad experiences with their accounting procedures. I would say their service and their technical people are fine, their accounting and customer web site used to process payment transactions is about 30 years outdated. If I can get their financial accounting part straightened out, I told them I would continue to be a customer. Like I said, I'm having some big time issues with them as far as how payments were going and confusing things like that. The last conversation I had with the representative at customer service regarding the accounting procedures were if the issues were not cleared up and we could not rectify the account correctly, then I would stop the service because it was just getting too aggravating for me to deal with. If they don't get their act together with accounting, then I will not use them any longer.

I should have looked at reviews first. My experience lined up with what others have stated here. More than once, I received the wrong service ie. fertilizer instead of weed killer...etc. Eventually my lawn was burned out and I had to cancel service all together. The sales team still calls me to this day to recruit me back even when asked to remove my number from their calling list. I would avoid. Even an amateur with Scott's turfbuilder could do a much better job.

On 5/8 they came to put out weed control and instead put out fertilizer. The next day our grass started dying in spots. We initially thought it was some kind of disease, as the next day it was even worse. My husband called them on Monday, 5/20 and asked that a manager come look at our lawn. He was told that it would be Wednesday before someone could get out. He called them back on Tuesday to let them know he would be out of town and to please call me before someone came out, so I could show them all of the damage. They told him that yes the service was scheduled, and he told them he did not want the lawn serviced again. He wanted a manager to look at the damaged areas. On Wednesday when I arrived home, Tru Green had been here and applied more fertilizer and weed control and no manager had been here or called. I called a man with a degree in turf management to come look at the lawn and he said it looked like it had been burned by fertilizer. I called Tru Green and told them I was very upset and I wanted to speak to a manager right away. I was told that their policy was that someone would call me back in 24 to 48 hours. I explained again I was very upset and was told again that it would be 24 to 48 hours. I called Tru Green's Atlanta number and after explaining my problem and how upset I was, the young lady said she would connect me to a manager and instead promptly hung up on me. I called back and the lady that answered this time said, "oh no, I couldn't speak to a manager. It would be at least 48 hours". Their "48" hours was up yesterday at 3:30 and guess what? No phone call. Imagine that. This is the poorest excuse for customer service I have ever seen! We have been with Tru Green for a couple of years and I have begged my husband to drop their service due to continued problems, their lack of listening and responding. This time he is hearing what I was saying. I wouldn't do business with them if they were the only lawn service in the country! I would have a baren wasteland, before I would give them another cent. Incidentally, we sent photos and a grass and soil sample to N.C. State ag dept. so they could test for us, in our continued pursuit of a manager with Tru Green. Also will have the involvement of the local ag ext. office?

Saw no improvement in my lawn, billing is hard straighten out if there is every any issue. They use an outsourced call center after local business hours - terrible to completely useless. Do not use this service.

Expensive and the overall results were disappointing. Lawn stayed full of weeds after treatments. They provide a so called satisfaction guarantee which just means that if you call them and complain they will just came back to your house and do the same thing again. Unfortunately if it didn't work the first time, it is unlikely that it will work again. These lawn treatment programs are a waste of money. Avoid at all cost.

They would come out 7 times at $108 each. It sounded like they were going to use real good high quality stuff and they gave me good references. Their education stood out. They gave me all I needed and I was satisfied with the analysis.

They come every 6 weeks during the season and each application is $45. They are prompt and accommodating but they do not call before they come. After they have finished they leave a note on my door describing what they did and any notes about what is going on with my lawn. I am not here when they come by. I have not had any problems with them. One time I forgot to pay their bill and they were really nice about it; their price is good and they have a pretty good product.

Scott's Lawn Care is excellent and I use them constantly. The owner is just a very nice and very professional person to work with. He comes out himself to make sure that the job is done right. He even aerated my yard and seeded it himself. He just really takes ownership and pride in his company.

Like many, I engage the services of lawn care ?professionals? to achieve a healthy, better looking lawn. More specifically, I pay for the peace of mind that should result from a company?s purported expertise and for my convenience. The results after an initial on-site analysis and two Trugreen treatments, each performed by what are described by Trusgreen as ?specialists?, are significant ,ugly areas of wholly dead turf destroyed by a severe and untreated infestation of grubs. Where was the expertise that should/would have recognized this problem before so much damage was done? I?m left to believe that Trugreen?s approach has little to do with tailoring lawn treatment to the specific needs of a customer?s property, combined with watchful monitoring of lawn conditions. In my case, it feels (instead) as if agents simply roll the spreader, spray some liquid and drive to the next address. 7/17/2012 TruGreen responded to my complaints. They treated the grub infestation at no charge and agreed to re-seed the lawn in early fall. While I remain concerend about the damage that has been done (on their watch), I'm pleased that they stepped up and took action.
