We have used them for 21 and ½ years. We have a contract with them. For $198, we get two inspections and then, you can call them like 24 hours a day and if not more money. They are very pleasant and clean people. They are on time and they are very professional. At one point, we had to have our furnace and air conditioner replaced because the air conditioner was over 50 years old and the furnace was about 20 years old. The air conditioner just went out. The furnace kept going on and they did a very good job on that. We were able to finance that for 12 months with no interest.
Description of Work: We use Kay for heating and ac. They come and do an inspection twice a year. They did the AC inspection the last time they came out.

After "standard service" on 05/10/2010 my AC units stopped working properly.....hardly any cool air. A second repairman was sent out on 5/18/10 when I finally called to complain that both of my units were not working......both were freezing up like ice blocks. Upstairs unit drain pan was leaking and drains on both units were improperly cleaned. Repairman left the attic door open on the upstairs unit on both visits letting the attic heat into the upstairs. I had complained about this after the first visit. Second repairman reported that the refrigerant was down 55% on the basement unit and down 35% on the upstairs unit. I found this to be incredable when I just had them serviced. When I asked the second repairman on 5/18/10 how he thought this could happen he said "are you accusing us of sabotage?". I said "I did not say that, but what would you think if it was your HVAC?".....I certainly didn't touch the units. Bottom Line.....I paid $1020.00 to have my HVAC units sabotaged. ......the pan is still leaking and I do not think that the units where properly serviced.
Description of Work: Standard service of two units. When I called Kay for a service visit I said that I had two units. They said that they had been out once before and they confirmed that I had two units "on file". When the service guy came, he said that he was supposed to service only one unit and he had to "call the office". When the second service guy came, he started the same conversation with me about how he was only going to look at one unit, since that is what it said in on the service ticket. This is rediculous, since I had given the dispatcher a long explaination both times as to how I had two units. These people are just too stupid to be in any kind of business.

Response from Kay Heating & A/C
The member called our office on May 3, 2011 at 8:48 am, she ask what we charged to service an air conditioning unit. I personally spoke with her and quoted her $151.00 to service her a/c. I asked her when would be a good time to schedule her service and we scheduled for 8:30 the next morning of May 4, 2011. Her response to me was “if they show up, service people never show up when they are suppose to.” When our technician arrived the next morning at 8:22 am it was raining and 61 degree outside, which makes it very difficult to check a Freon charge. He began to do her service; he explained that because she had 2 units the price would be $255.00. She was very rude, unhappy and insisted that she was $151.00 to service both units, so that is what she would pay. We serviced both upstairs and downstairs and charge her $151.00. We also replaced a capacitor for the downstairs unit and charged her $101.00. We cleaned the coils which were extremely dirty and the filter was completely stopped up, also cleaned out the drain lines on both units. She paid total of $252.00 for the cleaning bother units and the replacement for the capacitor. The member called back on May 16, 2011 at 11:22 am and said the upstairs unit has bad moisture and the wall is frozen. Another technician returned on May 18, 2011 at 8:00 am per her request. Found the upstairs system auxiliary drain pan was full of water. He again cleaned the drain line and the drain pan at no charge to her. He also found the upstairs unit low on Freon and added 2 lbs. He did charge her for the Freon $110.00. The downstairs unit was also low on Freon. He asks her if she wanted to do a leak search to try and find the leak on the unit. He quoted her $328.00 which she agreed to pay. After doing the leak search he found multiple leaks in the downstairs unit. He had to add 6 lbs of Freon which she paid $330.00. She paid the total of $768.00. The technician explained that he system has multiple leaks and needs to be replaced. The last time we were there for service was November 18, 2008 to change a battery in her thermostat. These units have not been serviced in a very long time, if ever and they are in very bad condition. One of the units is 11 years old and the other is 9 years old. As far as leaving the attic door open this is the first I am aware of, she had never called our office to complain of this. She has never called our office to complain or to say she still has a problem. She has units that are very nasty, they have not been kept up or serviced and now she expecting a service to bring them back to a new conditioning. She has Freon leaks on the downstairs unit that cannot be repaired and the equipment needs to be replaced. We did a fair service for the member and she paid a fair price. We are not willing to make any type of refunds. It is my opinion that she has it out for anyone in the service business and nothing is going to make her happy. We have been in the service business 26 years and have not stayed in business by trying to sabotage any equipment. I certainly hope she can find a HVAC service company that will make her happy and live up to her expectations!

They did a good job and did it quickly. They were professional and displayed good workmanship. They were also fairly priced. However, I wasn’t happy with their clean-up. I wrote to them a letter about it, but never got a response. I would definitely use them again, though.

They were very responsive. They were here within an hour and fixed it. The guy was wonderful to work with. When we moved into our new house, we had them come by. We are going to have them service our heat pumps for the winter. We would recommend them to anybody. They were very friendly and very attentive. They were quick. It was during the time when we had that real cold spell here in North Carolina. The temperature was between 20 and 0 at that time. We needed it very badly. They brought the parts and other stuff. We were still under warranty. We were able to get the parts free. They did not try to push the parts onto us. They charged us only for the emergency service and the labour work. That was nice. They could have charged us more but they did not even try. We have scheduled a visit this year to winterize our house. They will check our new house out and make sure everything is well.

They always respond very quickly and this is especially good when there are emergencies. The best thing about this company is that we have a service contract with them, which we pay annually, and then all of our service calls are free and parts are discounted.

Every time they come, they are on time and so friendly. They make sure to answer all of our questions and do not take a long time to complete the work. They do not add extra things that need to be done and charge us for them either. The fact that they come promptly is a great thing and I would recommend them.
Description of Work: We have a maintenance agreement with them to clean the air conditioner and change the filters in our 2500 square foot home. They come two times a year and we pay yearly.
