+ -1 moreThis company is the answer to those annoying and scary problems that the computer can throw at you -- usually at the most inopportune time.You call them at (336) 545-1011 and arrange a very convenient appointment. As I mentioned above, there is a $50 consulting fee. I have always found that the expertise Steve Bowie brings finds an answer. I have sought his advice twice. This latest consult diagnosed a computer whose capacitors were blown, indicating a deepseated, and unfixable problem. I needed a new computer. Fortunately, Steve was able to provide that assistance. I had done the new computer thing at a and quot;Big Boxand quot; store. That was a hassle from start to finish. There was no pressure from Computer Troubleshooters for addons and other unwanted items. I had wanted the files from my old harddrive copied. No problem. This is the kind of special service you can't get in the big retail stores. I have every confidence that Computer Troubleshooters could provide any service required. I was pleasantly surprised that they could provide a custom designed computer for a very reasonable price.
Description of Work: I took my 10 year old computer to Steve Bowie at Computer Troubleshooters. It had become balky at starting, finally quit. Mr Bowie quickly discerned that there was no way to fix it. He charges a $50 consulting fee, and for those of us easily overwhelmed by hardware failure, he's worth every penny. I asked him to "build" a new model using the Windows XP operating system. In addition, he transferred all of my files from the old harddrive. The capacity of the computer went from 4 gig in the old one to 253 gig. There was no hassle with unwanted extras. Computer runs smoothly. Price very reasonable given file transfer and memory upgrade. Using the old operating system allows me to use my old programs. I had previously taken a much newer computer with "problems" to him. He cleaned it up, streamlined it, made suggestions as to effective security apps. This computer is now fast. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. VERY CAPABLE.

+ -1 moreI still don't know what Steve did to my PC, but in the end, I suffered a loss of data and had to replace the hard drive (through another company). Steve took my PC to fix a boot problem, but contacted me 3 hours later saying that my hard drive failed. He said he knew of someone with a clean room who could recover the data. When I asked how this happened, he summed it up to bad luck. He had no explanation and offered two different scenarios of what he did to my PC once he left my residence. I would not recommend this company at all!
Description of Work: I had just moved to the Greensboro area and contacted this company because my (1-year old) Dell PC was not recognizing the Internet.
