Jeff, the owner, was very professional and punctual in helping us with no heat in the middle of December. He found the first part and then found the second part and had us going all within a week. So we were very happy because it is a very old unit.

The service was great and very affordable. After calling, they were able to respond the very next day. They (Jesse, the AC technician) showed up ready to work that morning after calling ahead to let us know he was on the way. Jesse was friendly and very nice and answered each question respectfully, honestly, and was informative. He worked fast and hard and did a great job. With in just minutes he had our AC working and blowing cold air like never before. He also fixed the clogged pip and stoped the water from leaking into the attic. Over all it was a great job with 5 star service and very affordable.

I can't say enough nice things about this company. From the owner calling me back on a Fri afternoon and getting someone out to us on Mon as promised, all the way to the finished solution which was searched out carefully by Jesse the technician who came to our house, we were treated with complete professionalism. Jesse was such a nice gentleman. He took time to answer my questions (I usually have a lot.). He found that the pressure was abnormally high in the system and went about isolating what was causing that. Once he located the blockage, he showed me exactly what had caused the problem. It turned out that we didn't need the larger repair at all. Not only did he fix our problem, but they saved us a great deal of money comparatively to what we could have spent. I think if we admit it, we always wonder and worry that we get a good honest repairman when we need one. As a woman especially, I have had times that I worried if I was being taken advantage of. Well, that was certainly not the case here! What I got from Jesse, and as an extension Dudley Shoals Heating and Air, was a very honest assessment and repair at a very fair price. Jesse left me feeling like we had gotten VERY LUCKY indeed in joining Angie's List and finding Dudley Shoals recommended by people In our own area. Talk about money well spent. I would recommend Dudley Shoals to anyone needing any type of heating and air work. A+++ all around!

After Canella came out and told us we needed either a $2000 new AC coil or a $9000 new AC system, we had Jeff and his crew come out and give us an estimate. They were punctual and extremely professional. Jeff diagnosed and found the leak within 5 minutes (something that Canella didn't even attempt to do). He repaired the leak in the coil and then recharged the system with freon. The labor charge for this work was only $200, the rest of the cost was just the cost of the freon which he can't control anyway. He even offered to help vacuum before he left. We would definitely be using Dudley Shoals Heat & Air from now on.

We had to have our A/C unit for the main floor repaired last year and they told us we would have to replace the unit at the next issue. The unit stopped blowing cold air and I called the company that serviced it last year. They provide estimates to replace the unit. The cost seemed high so I contacted Dudley Shoal Heat & Air and asked them to provide a quote. When he arrived he looked at the unit an came back and told us it was an easy repair and we should still have a few years left on the unit. He replaced a capacitor on the outdoor unit and also adjust Freon, clean outdoor coils and leveled a second unit for $275. I have found the company for all my Heating & Cooling needs. Great service, great price and very honest.

Mr. Starnes was very punctual, friendly and professional. My 35-year old heat had, I was sure, passed on. He was able to fix it to cool another day though he could have easily told me I needed a new one. He is very helpful and honest in his estimation of the situation ( I have used this business before), and he offers his opinion and best service. He does nt try to sell you something you don't need. I would recommend him t anyone who wants a reputable businessman!

Had a little bit of a problem getting the quote in writing but once we received it we went ahead with the job. Dudley Shoals Heating and Air came in at a considerably lower price than the other quotes we got. The team arrived when they said they would and were very pleasant and polite. The job was done in a day and they cleaned up after themselves. We are very pleased and the house feels wonderful now. We are very satisfied and would not hesitate to use this company again.

He had to replace the thermostat and the only one he had with him could not be used to control the heating unit. He was to return with the correct thermostat before cold weather, but it was mid-December and several phone calls from us before the job was finished. It was a little frustrating.

I couldn't give a price as the paperwork is not readily available to me. However, it was more than $2,000.00 as We been very pleased with the heat pumps and their installations as well as the venting itself. We can state, from experience, that the owner (Jeff Starnes) is always ready to respond and answer any questions that one has. If they said they would be there, they were there and working hard. I felt safe with the men that were in our home doing the job. Our opinions were sought and considered about the work (vent placement, etc) and they went the extra mile with registering our heat pumps for warranties as well as taking on extra jobs to correct things that we wanted changed. We were very pleased.

Mr. Starnes was prompt, courteous, and worked us in on the same day that we called. The work was thorough and pricing was very fair. I would definitely call again if we ever need to.

It all went extremely well. I have a new 13 SEER 3 ton heat pump and a new furnace as well. All are FrigidAir units and work great..! This is the 2nd time I've used Dudley Shoals Heating and Air and look forward to using them again if the need arises.

The repair went well. The technician had to do some significant investigation to figure out the problem, but he worked quickly. One part had to be ordered, and it did take a while to get the part in. Once it was installed, though, the repair has been very successful.

I first found Dudley Shoals HVAC in the Yellow Pages and a Google search in early 2010. We had purchased a foreclosed home at an auction and the heat pump unit and all the appliances had been stolen by the previous owner. I called and talked to the owner, Jeff Starnes, and by coincidence, his company was based just a mile or so away. Jeff was busy but arrived in about 20 minutes and gave me a solid estimate to replace the entire HVAC system. I comparison shopped for a couple days and found that nobody could come close to his estimate. I called Jeff again and asked him when he could get started, as I was in no hurry, and he said he'd be there the next morning. Jeff and his 2 man crew showed up early and replaced the entire system, inside and out. New coil, condenser, pump unit and all the lines, new digital thermostat...the works..! They did all of this in about 3 hours..!! I have used Dudley Shoals Heat and Air Inc. two other times recently at my own home. In March of 2011, the heat pump unit outside wouldn't kick in. A company technician,(whose name I can't remember), arrived and tested before he made any diagnosis. He found a bad contactor on the heat pump unit and replaced it, plus topped off the unit with refrigerant. Cost $125. The next time was just last March, 3/30/12, to be exact. The same tech arrived when I had a problem with aging blower motor on furnace. It wouldn't kick in and a very hard time starting. I expected a new blower motor and components. The tech tested twice and determined that all the was wrong was a capacitor on the motor was shot. He could have easily convinced me that I needed a motor and charged me $400-$500. Total cost - $115. I highly recommend Jeff Starnes and his knowledgeable staff at Dudley Shoals Heat and Air Inc.

Our central air failed on a Monday. We called another company and the technician told us we needed an entirely new system. Called Dudley Shoals for a second opinion and they came out on Tuesday. Jeff was very responsive and professional and did a thorough check of our system. It turned out that all we needed was coolant added to our system with a little dye to catch a sneaky leak. When our system does need to be replaced Dudley Shoals will definitely get our business.

Overall it was a very good experience. I left a voice-mail initially the Monday of that week, and I was called back that night after he (owner) had returned from working all day. I was not in a hurry to complete the work since I had figured out a short-term fix for each of my issues. I had redirected the condensate from the pump reservoir into a container and was dumping the container periodically. I also was leaving the fan in the "on" position instead of "auto" to maintain airflow and not let the coils freeze up. We arranged for a time that best fit my work schedule (arriving at home in the evenings, and only having that Thursday evening as an option before the weekend). The service rep that was assigned to my house called beforehand to make sure everything was still OK with the date and time. He then called again and kept in contact so we knew the timing of his arrival. After he arrived, his troubleshooting included looking at the slope of the PVC piping for the condensate, making sure the pump did in fact work (including discussion of the GFCI on the outlet into which the pump is plugged in), verifying air temperatures before and after the coils, and checking pressures outside on the unit, and visual inspection of the coils and condensate pan inside the unit. He suggested I wash-down the outside unit also, which I did after he had completed the work and left.

We were told by another company that our 2 Trane units needed to be replaced, not only the heat pumps but the air handlers and some duct work. Long story short, I called Dudley Shoals, they came the very same afternoon, examined the system, found that they were working just find and "recharged" the freon. They checked the temperatures inside the house, coming in/out of the vents, and basically said we were set to go not only for this year but for a potential of 3 - 6 years. They put a dye in the line so if we have a leak and they come back, we should be able to locate said leak. All in all the most important thing is that they were honest. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.The only reason I gave them 0.0 on price is that I don't know the price. But given that I was looking at thousands in costs, their charge has to be much, much less. Count me as a happy customer.

Responded to phone call rapidly. They gave me an estimate and said the work would be done the next day. They arrived on schedule, did the work, cleaned up. New system performing beautifully. Work area spotless. NOTE: I called them with an unrelated problem in my home and a problem at a neighbor's home. Jeff arrived quickly and took care of both problems very quickly. Very nice folks who do good work at a very fair price.

We called, and received a very unprofessional answer (no identification of who was talking, lethargic, uninterested response, etc.) The person who answered the phone (turns out it was the owner) simply said he was busy and would call back in a couple of days. He indicated no interest in whether or not to do the work, and by the unprofessional response, we decided to go with another company. Dudley Shoal did call back over a week later, after our work had been completed by another company. He explained that he had over 90 emergency calls over that one week period and that was why he was too busy to respond to our request for service. He did apologize for his lack of responsiveness. That is the only reason I gave him a "D" vs. an "F". We would have lived with the week delay time if he simply had stated that he had been swamped with emergency calls (there was a heat wave on, and we would have understood). The problem was that he sounded and acted like he could have cared less about our business. He also did not call back in a couple of days, but 9 days later.

A/C unit was not blowing out cold air. Jeff came within two hours of my call for help. The unit was out of freon, so he replaced it. The job was handled professionally and promptly. Would definitely recommend to others!

Was apprehensive due to noise and freeze up on heat pump. Promptly responded and serviced heat pump. He also took time to answer question about warm air circulation in the house that saved us a lot of money by not having to add heaters in the bathrooms.
