Met January 6 and agreed on $3,500 to rough in 2 pedicure chairs and 2 sinks on a commercial property with a crawl space. Offered to pay up front or half, Tony Smith said it would be on completion. Seemed super on his game from day 1 constantly conferencing everyone in on phone calls, extremely impressed to say the least in the beginning. Was bragging and vouching for him when the subject of the nail salon came up. Unfortunately with higher expectation comes a greater fall. Agreed on a price and took until January 14 to get a quote. In the quote and per conversations, as a licensed plumber he would apply for the permit from Gaston County before we started. Called a few times in between and texted, no response. Other than a personal pet peeve to be ignored it’s completely unprofessional. It takes about 2 weeks for Gastonia to approve a permit so I’m thinking “any day now,” and setting up next steps to work on the property and when to order the $70,000 of material to put in the salon. Come to find out today, February 1, Tony Smith never even applied for a permit. Nearly a month later and wasted. Not sure what the issue was. We were happy to pay $3,500 considering it’s “pennies” compared to the overall investment. Will make a point to not recommend and not use for any future business.

They never showed up and never called back. Just lost my business.
Description of Work: Having trouble with water leaking from under the house in our partial basement. Called and asked them at 7am if they could arrive at 3:30pm to just come and see if they could find the problem. Was told yes and they took all my information and said I would receive a text in a little bit. At lunch I had not heard from them so I called again to verify they were coming as I was leaving work early to meet them. Was again told they were coming. Left work and got home at 3:30. After about 30 minutes I finally get a call from someone stating they just found out about the call and did I still need someone to come out. I asked when they could be there and it was going to be at least another hour. I need someone to go under the house and didn't think I would get a good evaluation with night fast approaching and also had to be somewhere at 6. So I told them no that I thought we needed to reschedule. He said he would call me back and that has been several days ago now and I have never heard back from them.

Job was quoted at $5,000. Job cost $5060. But he also installed a new water line which he said was "free". He would have had to replace the water line anyway since it would have been damaged by the excavation work for the sewer line. Tony was responsive and kept on schedule. I don't live in the house as it was an investment property and I never met him. So he kept me up to date with photos which was nice. The job only took two days and I think $5000 was high for the job but we needed it fixed as the sewer line was blocked. My biggest complaint is the landscaping was terrible and unacceptable. He left numerous soccer ball sized dirt balls in the area, left all the ruts caused by the small backhoe, and generally left the entire area in poor shape. He made little effort to level the dirt and used straw to cover the poor job. The end result was so poor that a person would not be able to mow the grass. It was simply terrible. I should have inspected the job before I paid him but since I don't live there and we discussed the expected level of finishing, I went ahead and paid him. It wasn't until the following week that I went to the house and noticed the poor job. I mentioned it him and he made no effort to fix it and never responded to my complaint. I would have expected for $5000 and considering we spoke about the level of finishing that he would have at least fixed the area so it could be mowed. Now I'm going to have to fix the entire job and re-seed the area. Unfortunately, the dirt balls are all hard and the grass is starting to grow and it will much more difficult to fix. I know I hired a plumber not a landscaper, but the finishing the landscaping is part of the job and he simply left us a mess, not to mentioned leaving ruts in the neighbors yard which he didn't bother to fix. He also left our cellar light on which I didn't notice until a month later. He also left several large pieces of old copper and clay pipe laying on the ground and/or sticking out of the ground. I'm not sure what to make of his lack of an acceptable finishing job. Other than I guess he figured I wouldn't inspect the job since I don't live there. While he does have two other guys who work for him, I know that he personally did much of the job. I would NOT recommend Tony Smith Plumbing.
Description of Work: Replaced old clay pipe sewer line which had roots growing on them.

I called Tony on Thursday morning and explained the issue. He said he would have one of his guys come out that evening. They worked with my schedule; which was fantastic. His guy arrived promptly, took a look at the problem, and had it fixed in 15-20 minutes. Very courteous and respectful, did not leave a mess and fast! I wish I could remember his name because he did an outstanding job...

I would give them straight A's across the board. They were great. They did a free estimate. They did exactly what has to be done. They need to cut away from my countertop. He was able to schedule within a week. I dealt with the owner for the consult; he is very personable, friendly, and honest. He actually listens to what I wanted to do. The workers he had come in where courteous, respectful, and very good workers. They did the job quickly and they did the job right. It was a comfortable experience.

Tony was able to send out a duo of workers to help me with an unexpected increased water pressure issue. They arrived on time, early actually, and stayed approximately 1.5 hours to repair some parts to my well. Tony was in constant contact via telephone to make sure the job was completed smoothly. Would definitely use again and recommend to others.

Tony Smith, the owner, came out to look at the job to get an understanding of what needed to be done in the kitchen and how I would like things set up for easy use and maintenance. Two days later 3 employees arrived on time and started to make preparations for protecting the new floors in the kitchen. Once they had protected the work areas the workers then proceeded to look at the layout of the flooring joists in relation to the placement of the new kitchen cabinets in order to avoid hitting any supports. By lunch on the second day the work was completed. The owner, Tony Smith, had come to the job site several times throughout the process and checked to make sure all the work was done properly and leveled correctly. He checked the functionality of the faucets for pressure ands temperature as well as the placement of the gas line shut off for quick use in the event of an emergency. He then instructed his employes to make minor adjustments to meet his expectations for the quality of the work. None of the adjustments were major, they were just aesthetic, such as turning the disposal so you could read the lettering in the sink and adjusting the pot filler just a hair It was refreshing to find someone who still takes pride in their work after having several bad experiences with the kitchen renovation. Being new to the area I had to rely on recommendations from others and was beginning to think I would never get the old fashioned pride in workmanship and quality I had grown accustomed in my previous home.
Description of Work: Installed gas line for new kitchen range, installed multiple faucets w supply cut offs and pot filler plus any water line and drain adjustments due to new sink locations, installed garbage disposal and installed water supply and cut off for new refrigerator.

Tony & his crew are top notch and this is coming from someone who's had experience with the worst. Tony is dependable and considerate. His analysis of the problems I've had have been excellent and accurate. He is fair and decent. I would never call anyone else. He's my go-to guy.

I was left with several leaks after they claimed the job was done. I felt the company was dishonest as well. The work that was completed differed from what they claimed was done. I chose not to have them come back to finish the project.
Description of Work: They handled the final plumbing details on two houses I was renovating (installing sinks, disposals, connecting lines, etc.)
