Jerry Dodgen bought the company in 1971 from Frank Parker, who had started the company in 1955. It was called Parker Fence Company at that time.
Jerry added the “D” and changed the name to Parker-D Fence Company.
Jerry also bought a 1930 A Model truck with three rolls of wire fence loaded in the back and incorporated it as the new logo.
Jerry Dodgen retired in 1998, the same year the company moved to its present location of 526 N. Broad St. Gastonia NC.
Jerry’s son Rocky started working for his dad at age 12 after school, weekends and summers for $1.00/hr. Today Rocky Dodgen is the president of Parker-D and has over 38 years experience building fences (the only job he’s ever had!)
Parker-D has 8 employees and really takes pride in their work, having built thousands of fences in North and South Carolina.
