Showed up over a half hour late was argumentative about drain as the pan he brought was already precut meaning he needed to move the plumbing and said nobody's perfect when I reminded him that I stated that at the estimate. I argued the point again that I didn't want it done they had already cut a hole in the floor and then said there would be fees if they were to leave I felt held hostage that I had to move forward with the job. Plus I had to sign a change order for $350 because he had to move the drain even though I specified I didn't wanna move the drain. He said people change their mind all the time which is the purpose of the form and the cost, again I said I didn't change the order, he did. he brought the precut pan. He was adamant that they would do a great job they do this all the time and that his name is on it, he referred back to the contract three different times over the week like he couldn't remember when what he was doing is showing me that this is what's in writing and that's his limit. When I was signing estimate online, in the fine print it said when applying paint they would only do one coat, this is part of why I accepted his estimate and that everything was included but that wasn't true. What he wrote down, not what I asked for. And zero flexibility. After they put up the concrete board he offered to move the shower plumbing over to match the drain and I agreed at this point what did it matter already moved the drain. He acted like he wanted to strangle me for agreeing to what he offered and said he wouldn't charge me for it. If he had done what I had asked for there wouldn't have been the extra expense. The tile corners of the shower are wavy and the pieces uneven, doesn't look like a professionally done job whatsoever. Gaps filled with grout where pieces of tile should be. The subfloor did not go all the way to the wall there's a quarter inch and greater in some areas gap between the sub floor and the wall. The subfloor that I demolished, went all the way to the framework. I asked about installing the shower door he said he would charge me $250 this is after I'm already paying him $4850 and no paint and no trim and no doorway mudded, Forget hanging barn door, they were leaving the job unfinished as it was. His workers asked me where the new toilet was, that was never in the agreement, it was to be a wax ring replacement. Because the workers thought they were replacing it they apparently had thrown out the bolts at the toilet base so now I'm left with 3 inches of shiny new bolts sticking up from the base of the toilet. I did request that this be cured, unfortunately his mother has been in the hospital and he did say he would address it the following week. A family member's poor health does not excuse attitude and lack of quality work.. if that was the case he should not have taken the job and/or told me about it from the beginning but I don't think that would've changed the finished product. Total time spent on the job maybe equivalent to 4 days. third day, his worker spent the entire day in the bathroom and the last day. There were 3 half days, this was over the course of seven days total during which time they had a weekend off and had to skip a day entirely because they were starting another job. Parking was another issue, I have an area leading up to a three car garage two parking spots available next to the garage plus a circular driveway in front of the house, Jason would park his truck blocking every parking spot at intersection accessing all spaces. Twice I had to maneuver on the grass barely missing trees and the porch to get out of my own driveway and twice I had to park outside the gate, it's ridiculous that you have to tell somebody not to block 6 parking spots even blocking in two of his workers, what about the owners of the property and FedEx and UPS and the plumber. I expected so much more than what I got I am very disappointed. This was an expensive lesson and I warn anyone before signing an estimate have a conversation write down all of your expectations and don't miss a thing and assume nothing and do not take them at their word that they're listening to you because if it's not written down no matter how many times you say it they are not going to do it and if they do it will be a $350 change every time. Also keep in mind they're in a rush to do other jobs and no one is double checking the work before the tile sets. I have to live with the poor quality and the expense of this job until I decide to do something about it. I spent over $1300 on tile and now I have to finish the rest of the bathroom myself.
Description of Work: Stated I wanted Completed 3/4 bathroom, already gutted including sub floor. Wanted custom shower pan built without moving plumbing. Tile to the ceiling 56 inch x 8ft, Peel and stick tile on new sub floor, expected paint and trim, install glass shower door. Frame doorway with drywall mud and hang sliding barn door. This is what I said during estimate which he was 45 minutes late, didn't say a word didn't ask any questions. Specifically I stated I don't want to move the plumbing. I wanted the labor as I was supplying the material.
