Smoke Alert Home Fire Safety

The guys from Smoke Alert Dryer Vent Cleaning showed up on time for their scheduled appointment and were very cordial. They checked out my system which was, indeed, blocked, but they could not perform their service because of insurance issues on their part. My dryer vent does not meet local housing codes. I will have to have that corrected before anything else can be done. I had no idea that I have a problem, so I am grateful for them letting me know. I will be calling them again as they were as nice and professional as they could be.

Installer was very professional, on time, explained things in layman terms, answered questions. Thoroughly cleaned up after himself. Would definitely use this provider again.

I purchased the $59 dryer vent cleaning deal from Angie's list since I recently bought my home and was not sure when it had been serviced last. I'm very glad I did. When he arrived for the cleaning, he discovered that my vent was made of vinyl, which is flammable and definitely not up to code. Upon further inspection, the vent wasn't even hooked up correctly, which was another hazard. Due to this, he could not clean it and gave me options for replacement. John presented me with different pricing and routing options, and listed the pros and cons of each. He was very open to any questions I had and did not push me towards either option, and even encouraged me to shop around. I opted to have him come back and replace my vent. He also did a free fire safety inspection. My upstairs smoke alarm had just expired and there was not one downstairs. He gave me the option to purchase the alarms from Smoke Alert and he installed them same day. The prices are very competitive with any retailer, and by purchasing through them they install and warranty them for a year. I also purchased 2 fire extinguishers from them since I did not have one in my new house yet. Overall the service was very professional and I am very satisfied. Even with the extra work I was not anticipating, it was worth every penny. Having the peace of mind that everything is done correctly and up to code is priceless, especially in a new (to me) home where you don't know what to expect. My dryer now dries my sheets and towels faster than any dryer I've ever used.

The dryer vent service also includes an inspection of home fire safety around extinguishers, smoke/CO alarms and potential dryer fire hazards. Jon was very personable and made several interesting points and recommendations regarding fire safety that I had not thought of.

den PondKeith inspected the existing dryer vent that had a bird nest in it. He determined that there were no unhatched eggs or birds in the nest at the time & closed it so that the birds could not re-enter. He explained that he could not clean the vent because it does not meet current fire safety code & replaced it with materials that meet current code. He explained what type of fire extinguishers & smoke alarms I need & what to do in case of a fire. He replaced the outdated smkoke alarms with new ones. He was very professional, knowledgable, & efficient. The price was very fair & affordable.

Jon said that he'd call me 30 minutes before arriving and that's just what he did. He arrived on time and took off his shoes to avoid getting my light-colored carpet dirty and got down to business. He put something under the dryer so that it could be rolled out more easily. He then looked behind the dryer and commented on how good the connection was. I told him that last year when I had an Angie's List dryer vent cleaning deal, the person who came out, an older gentleman, totally replaced my old vent because they were so flimsy. When Rob then started to check the pressure of the vent, i.e. how strongly it pushed out the air (?), he said it was perfect and was surprised since it was a very old Roper dryer that still works very well, though not energy efficient. Rob said my vent didn't really need cleaning but of course he went ahead and cleaned it. He also checked my old smoke alarm which he said didn't have the latest technology, so I asked him to install a new one. Jon is a very friendly and competent person and I'd certainly use him again to do this work.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They did a great job. There were no additional charges. He offered things to buy but I didn't have to buy them.

The experience was excellent - the company reached out to me several days prior to re-confirm my appointment and the technician (a volunteer firefighter) called 10 minutes before he arrived to say he was on his way. The technician was extremely knowledgeable about the services he was performing and did a very thorough job of checking and cleaning the vents. He showed me that my vent, prior to being serviced, was at 1000 (forgot the unit of measurement) and after being cleaned it went up to 1800. Huge improvement and this means my laundry will dry in one cycle rather than two. I will absolutely use this company next time I need the vents cleaned. The experience was 100% positive.

The service provider was very prompt and professional. He went beyond the vent cleaning service as he replaced two essential parts that were broken. All this was completed for a very reasonable cost.

They were unable to do the work, as they were afraid of damaging the vents we have.

I was very pleased with the service that they provided. We had problems with our dryer for a while; where we had to run the dryer 2-4 times to get clothes dry. We had planned on getting a new dryer in the next couple of weeks. So we decided to get the vents cleaned before we brought the new dryer in. Well, after there service the dryer worked so well, that we no longer need to buy a new one. Clothes, jeans, towels all dry with one cycle instead of the 2-3 that we were use to. We also received a safety inspection of our home, fire extinguishers and smoke detectors. I plan to use them annually to check our dryer and to have them preform a chimney cleaning before fall. Had purchased big deal from provider. I was told they are unable to perform service on older dyer vents that are not up to current code. No service was performed so I asked for refund from Angie's list. Owner called to clarify their policies and explain the restrictions they are under. Nice of him to call and explain things to me.

I was very satisfied with the service. The workman was very knowledgeable and showed me a picture of what the old vent pipe looked like and why it had to be replaced. He was thorough in his explanations and I was assured of his competence as a result of this and the way that he went about his work. At the end he explained that he was a fire fighter and showed me how to use the free fire extinguisher.

Keith and Zack were wonderful and were polite and very punctual. They were very knowledgeable and I would definitely recommend Smoke Alert to anyone!

We purchased a Big Deal for dryer vent cleaning. The owner contacted us within 24 hours and we were able to schedule service about a week later (in the evening thank goodness - some vendors won't schedule later than 4:00 or so). The truck arrived within the scheduled time frame and John went straight to work. He explained everything that he was doing and was very personable during his visit. The company performs a free fire safety inspection and lets you know when it is time to replace fire alarms, fire extinguishers, etc. John gave us his recommendations, but was not pushy at all. All of their products and services are reasonably priced. It was a nice experience and we plan to use them in the future.

It went well. He worked with all our limitations in our tiny laundry room and fixed everything that needed to be fixed. I will recommend for sure!

Could not be happier and will recommend the company in the future. Do not hesitate to use these guys. I had a ton completed at my house and John explained everything really well and gave us multiple options and price points. It could have been much less expensive but I decided to have the entire home outfitted with new equipment at the higher price point. The price was very much in line with expectations.

I was home for another issue and decided at the last minute to have the dryer vent cleaned out as I had begun to notice my dryer not drying as well. I called Smoke Alert and was able to schedule an appointment for the same day. Jon arrived on time and was able to provide the service in a very professional manner. He was able to answer my questions and the job preformed was excellent. According to the reading they took before and after, my dryer performance doubled as a result of cleaning the vent tube. I would most definitely use this service again and recommend them to my friends. Also, their price was great for the service. I did have an old vent hose replaced when they were there which added about $25 to the price but it was worth it. Thanks for a great customer experience!

I was pleased with the service. The technician arrived on time and was professional. He explained all items on a fire safety checkllist after checking my house.

I was told the vent needed to be upgraded. They did that and then hooked up the new dryer. All is working fine
