Smoke Alert Home Fire Safety

Jon arrived on time and immediately checked all our smoke detectors. Checked the vent on the dryer and cleaned the vent all the way to the roof.

Both gentlemen were extremely respectful and helpful. They did a free fire safety inspection for our home. We learned a lot in addition to the repairs which they completed. I cannot recommend their services highly enough!

Though the provider came to clean my dryer vent, what is normally a simple job quickly turned complicated. My washer and dryer were stacked and extremely heavy, far heavier than one strong man could move. "The boss" was quickly called for some extra manpower. Because help wasn't available in the morning we had to reschedule for the afternoon, at a time convenient to me. The job was completed with no additional problems at that time. Because they had to reschedule for the afternoon they gave me a fire extinguisher for home use! They were polite, on time and informative. I'd definitely use their service again. Very positive experience!

I have not had the dryer vent cleaned since I moved in 25 years ago. The dryer was taking longer and longer to dry clothes, and I was concerned that I was not noticing any venting at the outside exhaust point. This company was recommended by some friends. They showed up on time, repaired and cleaned the duct and dryer, after checking the velocity of the exhaust. The service provider was very efficient and explained why there was no air flow out of the exhaust vent. He replaced the flexible duct in the house behind the dryer, repaired and replaced sections of the exhaust vent under the house, and thoroughly cleaned the dryer and the venting. He worked quickly and did an excellent job. The cleaning was $79 and the fire extinguisher was $30, the new duct inside the house was $25, leaving the repairs costing $125 (well worth the price for the work that had to be performed to repair). He also inspected the smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers in my home. I wanted another fire extinguisher for the second floor, which I purchased from him. I now have a high velocity air flow, and clothes are drying faster. I will use this company again next year. I would recommend this company to anyone needing their service.

It was not favorable. He did not communicate well. He wrote up the bill and had additional charges on it for things I never approved. I felt it was very unprofessional. I felt as if he was using Angie’s List just to get in the house and acquire clients, but this is not how it should have been done. He should have asked me before doing any additional services. I never authorized any costs beyond what the Big Deal was for.

They were very responsive and even set up an appointment for a Sunday morning, however when they came out the technician almost immediately advised that they could not perform the cleaning service due to the type of duct work in our house. He continued to perform the inspection and offered an estimate how much it would be to replace the ducts. He advised that I could request a refund or apply the amount against the estimate.

Went very well. Jonathan called to let me know when he would be arriving and did a great job cleaning the vent, removed a bird's nest and wasp's nest in the vent. Very professional and prompt.

The technician was prompt, courteous and professional. I had never had the dryer vent cleaned, also it was not really vented properly, he was able to take care of that while he was here. He also checked the smoke detectors, one was quite out of date, he replaced that also. The cost was very reasonable, and I have more peace of mind knowing these items are up to date.

I will be calling Smoke Alert in the future, as although several people told us to just use a air hose and blow the dryer vent out, once I saw what a professional job they did and how much potential fire starting lint I would have missed, I was so glad we got the professionals in. We used a coupon and for a mere $59 we had a firefighter come and clean the vent with a special vacuum and cleaning brushes that left no dirt or build up in the entire vent system. Both ends looked new by the time he was finished! Then we got the extra bonus of a discussion about fire safety in our home and several suggestions on what we could improve on. No one ever wants to have a fire in their home, so please take my advice and get these guys into help you avoid it... it will be the best money you will ever spend!

They had me listed for a future date, but due to the fact that I was worried about an over heating drying they worked me in sooner. Kept in touch with me to let me know what time and date they were coming. Were on time and answered all concerns I had about their products.

Jonathan was conscientious, polite,thorough and a true professional. He was detail oriented and focused on the task. Explained what he was doing and answered politely any questions we had. After the service was performed, he cleaned up so thoroughly you wouldn't have know he was here. We will use Jonathan and Smoke Alert next year and in the future. The service was exceptional.

The representative also offered and I purchased a better and safer dryer vent connection. The representative also did a smoke alarm and fire extinguisher check finding them to be outdated especially the extinguishers. The representative offered and I purchased new smoke alarms, two of which also detected CO2 gases (which I hadn't had and should have due to a gas fireplace and water heater); and two fire extinguishers (one of which was specifically for kitchen fires). Naturally there was an extra charge of about $250 for these items but it was worth it to me to have them provide the proper equipment and do the installation. Before contacting SmokeAlert I had viewed their website, and did research on the smoke alarms in the house. Due to their age I expected they would recommend replacing them. The representative was informative but not high pressure. As stated it was worth it to me to have them provide the equipment and do the replacement. I recommended the company to two neighbors and they also had their vents cleaned.

The visit went very well. The staff member was extremely professional and explained everything very well. The price was extremely reasonable. We look forward to using their services again, and heartily recommend them.

They were very professional and responsive in setting up the appointment. While they did run a little late due to a difficult previous appointment, they made every attempt to contact us to inform us about the delay. The work was easily accomplished and promptly done. They recommended and we purchased replacement for our outdated fire extinguisher in the kitchen.

Jonathan came out and inspected our dyer vent. As we suspected it was not up to code and was damaged (hole in the tubing and lint was spewing out) and needed to be replaced. He kindly took video so we could see the damaged dryer vent without having to crawl into the crawlspace. He explained the various options for rerouting the dryer vent and came up with a solution that was safe and aesthetically pleasing. Even though it was late afternoon, Jonathan stayed and completed the work that day; well beyond the normal work day. He was professional, polite, and neat! My husband and I were very pleased with the price and the quality of work that was performed. We are so grateful to have had this inspection completed because we did not realize that our present setup was dangerous due to the type of material that the original builder used and the length of the vent. My dryer works much more efficiently now. We would highly recommend this company and we plan to use them again for yearly check-ups.

While cleaning the dryer vent, John discovered that the existing pipe was too flimsy and as a result was filled with wet lint which not only caused our dryer to not work properly, but also created a safety hazard. John was thorough and professional in his installation of the new dryer line. He explained each step of the project, showed me pictures of the old pipe to allow me to make an informed decision before agreeing to the work. I was pleased with the results. Our home is safer and our dryer is working much more efficiently. Before working on the vent, John checked out our carbon monoxide detectors and made suggestions concerning proper placement for best results. He also checked out our smoke detectors, reminding me to change batteries annually. He provided good information on fire prevention, especially on the different types of fire extinguishers available and which are best for kitchens and other areas of the home. John did a great job, was very professional and courteous. We plan to call on Smoke Alert again next year for annual dryer vent maintenance.

Recommended changing the vent hose for a better quality and performance hose for $25 which I did from him and he changed that as well. worked very professionally.
