Chris arrived on time and was very professional. He explained all the options that were available and there was no pressure to do any work. He and his assistant were neat and cleaned up after their work. When they left you never new that we had work done in the house. I would strongly recommend then and plan on having them maintain a yearly cleaning and checking the system.

I had a complex water leak that most likely was a roof flashing issue and chimney issue. Smoke Alert was very professional and worked with me to solve this issue. Chris Tomlin (owner) and Keith Gaudette, a professional chimney sweep were very attentive to detail and placed a new chimney cap, crown seal and water repellent. They are competitive in cost and work professionally to solve all issues. I would call them again for any chimney issues.

They were most helpful and ptrofessional. I did not know the difference betwwen an bc fire estinguisher.

I appreciate the thorough job and courteous service. John, was careful in getting his equipment in place and moving the dryer. His recommendations were well thought out. He offered other products but did not agressively push them and they were better than competitively priced plus the convenience factor made them even better. The cost was a real deal compared to the aggravation and time required to do it yourself and these people are prepared to do a quality job and to go the extra mile to do one.

The technicians confirmed the appointment by phone, arrived on time, and they were both professional and courteous. The technicians also performed great clean-up following the work. They were very knowledgeable and explained the process and work very well. I would definitely use their service again and I highly recommend them to anyone.

Our technician, John, arrived ahead of schedule. He politely called ahead of time to verify that his early arrival would fit our schedule. John was courteous and knowledgeable, as well as very personable. After cleaning our dryer vent, he showed us the increase in power we would now have. After installing our new alarms, he thoroughly demonstrated how they work. We were very pleased with the service we received from Smoke Alert and highly recommend the company.

The appointment was easy to schedule and reminders were sent to email address the day before the service. Tech called before arriving and was on time. Quickly performed tasks and made suggestions about fire extinguishers. Very pleased with service. Copy of reciept was emailed immediately. Outstanding service.

Both jobs far exceeded my expectations (and I'm impressed that they really are firemen). The Dryer Vent Cleaning resulted in 60% better airflow which makes a tremendous difference to the time that it takes to dry a load of clothes. A load that used to take an hour or more with two or three restarts now takes about half an hour and the clothes are perfectly dry the first time that drying completes. I always thought that our dryer didn't work well, but now I know that it was poor airflow that was causing the problem. Likewise, the chimney repair service identified and solved several problems, some of which I didn't even know that we had. They also serviced our fire extinguishers and checked our fire alarms. I feel much more confident about fire safety since their visits.

Mark was extremely professional and made sure everything was cleaned up before he left. He's a Chapel Hill firefighter, so I felt very comfortable with what he had to say about smoke alarm placement and about fire extinguishers. I appreciated that I received a reminder email a couple of days before the service, and that Mark called me to say he was on his way. Couldn't be more pleased, and will definitely use the service next year.

Jonathon arrived on time and was extremely friendly (even to my hyper dog). I purchased the deal for the dryer vent clean and fire inspection for $59. He cleaned the vents in a timely manner. I also purchased a new fire extinguisher and a replacment for dryer hose that had become dented. I will definitely have them back next year for vent cleaning and replacing my smoke detectors.

Jonathan came to inspect out venting and we knew we had a problem when he pulled out three dead mice. The duct work under the house looked like a roller coaster leaving plenty of places for the dryer lint to get stuck. After over 20 years it really was. Since it was not up to code we had him replace that. We scheduled that replacement for 10/21 and he came and replaced the duct work and gave us a form to see how safe we were as far as fire in the home was concerned. We found out that our old fire alarms were also out of date so we purchased two new ones that actually tell you where the fire is, first or second floor. We also did not have a small fire extinguisher and got one of those. He was very professional and since they are all firefighters we felt comfortable with his suggestions. I would definitely recommend them, actually did, and would use them again. Probably will have them do a yearly inspection.

I had a problem with my dryer not drying the clothes, also because of our ages and health conditions we are unable to pull the dryer out. Johnathan cleaned the vent , the dryer and behind the washer and dryer, hanging up all the hangers he found behind them. My mud room was put back neatly with all he had moved to do his job. We had a bad clog and potential fire hazard. I would recommend Smoke Alert for all of your Fire safety needs. The company trains their employees to be concerned and willing to educate you regarding smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and ways to protect your home.

This is our first time using their services. We purchased the deal for vent cleaning but opted for additional services. Keith did a great job! He arrived on time, inspected the house for safety issues and pointed out deficiencies. Since our dryer vent was not installed correctly, he gave us several options on replacing the plastic part and securing it in place. Chimney tops were cracked and he also gave an option of fixing it without pushing for any services. Very professional and punctual.

Mike from Smoke Alert called to see if he could come early, which was great. He had finished his other job earlier than expected. I usually have people not show up intil the minute they have to be there. He did the fire inspection first, then looked at my dryer pipe. Now for a little backstory, I had all of my dryer tubing replaced 4 years ago. I was told it was metal and within code. It turned out only half of the tubing was metal and up to code. Also parts were installed backward. Mike explained in detail the issues and showed me the defective parts that had been installed. I was not very happy in learning there could have been a fire caused by faulty tubing from my dryer. Mike gave me a quote which I accepted as being very reasonable cheaper than the last company who cut corners. He installed the dryer metal tubing, new vent outside, cleaned the tubing that did not need replacing and the fire inspection all in 2 hours.Also he put up with my 3 dogs watching his every move. Mike was professional , answered all of my questions( which were many) and cleaned up after all of the work was completed. I would definitely recommend Smoke Alert Vent Cleaning and Chimney Sweep. I like the fact they are all firemen, they are very knowlegeble about codes , what could cause fires and ways to prevent it from happening, I am recommending them to my neighbors and coworkers. I purchased the $75.00 dryer vent cleaning from Angie's List deal. The dryer now works great! The cleaning definitely increased efficiency. They also replaced the exterior dryer vent flap coming out of the house for $30.00. I also purchased a $25.00 fire extinguisher from them. Great deal would definitely use this company again.

It went great! I had aken advantage of an Angie's List deal to get my dryer vent cleaned. He was running a little late due to traffic and he called to let me know about the delay. When he looked at old smoke alarm and suggested replacing that one & adding one downstairs, there was no pressure at all to do it today, and several options were given. I was really impressed with everything about the call and would definitely use Smoke Alert in the future!

Lonnie was very punctual and very professional. He is clearly very knowledgeable in the area of fire / home safety. He was very courteous. He cleaned up under my dryer for me, cleaned the vent leading to exterior, and replaced both the flexible duct and the exterior vent piece as mine was not up to current code. I believe he said that all of the people in the company are firefighters, and he was very knowledgeable about smoke and CO detectors, fire extinguishers, fire plans, in addition to the dryer safety (the original reason I engaged the company to come to my house). I was very glad to have this company provide this service, and was very pleased to get the information and recommendations. I chose to purchase new CO detectors and fire extinguishers (not included in the price I quoted above) and thought they were reasonably priced.

They were very prompt in responding to my request for scheduling, which I did using the Angie's List link last night (Sunday). After a couple of emails back and forth we narrowed down a date and then they had an opening this afternoon, anyway. The technician called ahead with an update to his schedule and then came on time and was very professional and helpful. I found this company on Angie's List -- there was a $59 special and they had excellent reviews. By the time he was done, we spent much more than that. I was skeptical when I read Angie's List reviews from people with similar experiences of incurring additional costs. I thought we were in good shape with all this -- but there are still things you miss and the additional work really was necessary. I would recommend them and would use them again.

I scheduled an appointment with Keith in mid-August at 3pm to clean my fireplace. I took 1/2 day off work to meet him. At 3:10pm he calls to tell me that he was just leaving the doctor's office and the doctor didn't release him from an elbow inquiry he had suffered previously. My thought was why would he just be leaving the doctors office when he was suppose to be at my house at 3:00pm. Anyway, he said he would call me to schedule another appointment once he got released from the doctor. About 2 weeks later I get a call from him that he is at my house ready to do the service. Problem is, I'm at work and we didn't have an appoint scheduled. We set another appointment up for Friday at 3pm. At 3:30pm I called and left a voicemail asking him where he was. At 5:00pm he calls and says he's on I-40 and it's a parking lot but he'll be there as soon as he can. I told him he didn't have to come and we could reschedule. He thanked me and said his wife would appriciate that as well. We set another appoint for today at 3:00pm. I called him at 1:30pm to confirm our appointment and got his voicemail. I called at 3:15pm and got his voicemail. It's 3:52 and I am writing this review. No show 3 times & shows up one time without an appointment.

I found this provider on Angies List and was impressed with all the A ratings. From beginning to end the experience was excellent. I called Smoke Alert to make an appointment for dryer vent cleaning. The apppointment was made for a couple of days later and the service technician that arrived was punctual, pleasant, professional and knowledgable. I think it is a real benefit that the service personnel are off-duty firefighters and have that additional expertise. In addition to cleaning the dryer vent, he inspected the smoke detectors and made recommendations. I purchased a much needed carbon monoxide detector and it was an added conveinence that they have these available on their trucks. I was aware that our fire extinquishers were very old and also purchased two new ones. The technician took the time to give me a tutorial on the use of the fire extinguishers. At the end of the visit, I feel that I have a very clean dryer vent and that I have done what I can to enhance our fire prevention and preparedness. I would highly recommend this provider.

Jonathan arrived early and did an excellent job replacing the last short section of dryer vent before exiting the roof. Replacing the small section was not difficult, but getting access to it was- it was in the attic and he had to crawl through a small space to get to it- and it was hot. Cleaned the vent thoroughly and tested for good air flow. I also bought the better vent hose from the dryer to the wall- good investment. He also inspected the smoke and CO alarms, and recommended that I put one downstairs near the kitchen, which I did. I also bought two fire extinguishers, one for the upstairs and one for the kitchen. (I was planning to do that anyway) Very professional and knowledgeable- I highly recommend them, if for no other reason, than for the inspection. It's money well spent. I have to give a shout out to Maytag for putting a vent flow sensor on their dryer's- we had just bought a new dryer to replace the old one, which had died,- no doubt because the vent was clogged and had been for some time. We are very fortunate that there was not a fire. I will be using Smoke Alert to inspect and clean the dryer vent next year!

This was my first time buying a deal straight from Angie's List and there was some confusion about what area was offering the deal. I had just relocated and had two houses to deal with. It was a hectic time and I might have just forgotten about the deal purchase, but Smoke Alert was great. They contacted me to let me know when they were in the area of my rental house and set up an appt. It worked out perfect. They made it very easy re. scheduling with my tenant, reporting their findings, getting their work done and invoicing me. I got peace of mind that my rental house is up to code, and I didn't have to travel there or miss any time at my job. I just noticed that they do chimney sweeping too so I will be using this company again.

That turned out wonderful. One employee came out and it took him about an hour to an hour and a half. He was very thorough, polite and helpful with any questions I had. They work with the fire department so they know what to work for. He also gave me money saving tips.
