About us

Poole's Plumbing, Inc. is a fully licensed and insured residential and commercial Raleigh plumbing contracting company that was created in 1999 by Robert K. Poole. With two men, a truck, and a dream he had aspirations that one day his company would be one of the top plumbing contractors in the area. He started this journey by doing repair and renovation work in 1999. However due to the triangle area boom that we have seen over the past 10 years, repair and renovation work quickly escalated to residential and light commercial new construction. With plenty of blood, sweat, and tears along the way, Bob Poole accomplished his original goal and by 2007 Poole's Plumbing had 60+ employees and all the work it could handle. However, as many people know due to the on-going economic crisis, the triangle area construction industry has experienced a significant down turn since 2008 as the current housing crisis grows deeper. Currently, Poole's Plumbing, Inc. maintains a client portfolio that includes some of the largest national tract home building companies as well as some of the most well respected custom and semi-custom home builders in the triangle area. Although we are not operating on 2007 numbers, we continue to maintain a solid client portfolio and continue to produce a high quality product. The moral or ethical position of Poole's Plumbing, Inc. is to create an environment of Honesty, Integrity, and to maintain a high level of service without compromising quality or craftsmanship. While using the very best materials available in today's marketplace, Poole's Plumbing will never cut corners to save money. Our desired public image is to do every job right the first time at the best possible cost. We look at every job as if we were doing that job in our own home. Simply put, we want the call the next time you need us! Our Code of Ethics: - Always answer your phone - Accurately document any applicable information - Make the customer feel important and appreciated whenev

They fixed my well. Lighting hit my well. They were very good. They were fast and prompt. They knew what they were doing. They were middle of the road in relation to expense. I liked their knowledge. They just repaired it.

. They came as early as possible and were very professional, making sure I understood everything they were doing. When I realized that I forgot to mention the Angie's List coupon, they sent me a check. I hope I don't need to, but I will call them again if I need a plumber.
Description of Work: We were getting a new washing machine and needed to replace our medieval hookup. They did a great job of tracking down where the pipes were and replacing everything.

All of Poole's team members, from the estimate providers - to executing the job - to the operations on the inspection day, were professional, punctual, diligent and respectful of my property. Installation was done quickly and efficiently. System worked when they left. The company also was very cooperative on meeting my tight scheduling timeline due to my schedule restrictions. Their estimate was far less than another one I had received and also I preferred their design for the project. I found the estimate fair, and did not feel like I was being ripped off. Township inspection passed without issue. I will call them for any/all plumbing work in the future.

They came out when they said they would and did the job they said they would do. They did it under estimate and they did a great job.
Description of Work: My gas water heater failed in he middle of the night and I needed help. I found Pooles in my Angie's List magazine and called them at 5:30 in the morning. They got to me right away and did the job for under the estimate. They did a fantastic job and everyone from the over night guy to the scheduler to the men who came out to do the work were unfailingly kind and the work was absolutely top notch. I would absolutely use them again.

These guys were prompt, polite, professional and willing to help explain things. I'd use them again anyday.
Description of Work: Poole's Plumbing was hired to replace or repair the outside faucet handlewhich had broken off (house 12 years old). The two men who came out first tried to replace just the handle but of course 12 years later the faucent handles are bigger and wouldn't fit. They had to cut off the pipe and replace with entire new faucet pipe and handle component set. I then asked them about the cleanout drain which they quickly checked and said it was clear. Then asked them to check under the bathroom sinks as there was a wierd smell and no matter how much cleaning the smell remained. They took a look and explained it was the vent caps had gone bad. Just take one off and go to Home Depot or Lowes, you can get one for $11.00. They are easy to replace. I them asked them to please explain where the heck I was supposed to drain the hot water heater. My husband and I had looked all over and couldn't find any spigot. Even they were stumped for a minute but found it under the front cover which protects so near the pilot light. All that effort, no complaints from them that they were in a hurry and they only charged me $110.00. These guys were great!!!

Poole team arrived when they said they would. Installation was done quickly and efficiently. System worked when they left-but they did not check the time that it took for the water to get hot at the faucets. County inspection passed without issue. When hooking up the hot water system I paid to have a direct extension to the kitchen - after they left it was apparent that the time that it took to get the water to the kitchen was excessive...nearly two minutes. After reviewing their work I called Poole's and talked to them about the issue - they came out the next morning and reviewed the installation and concluded that my analysis was right. First they had put a crossover between the direct line to the kitchen and to the other hot water line that went to the washer and dryer on that side of the house. That caused all of the cold water in both lines to have to be flushed before hot water would arrive at either side of the piping. Secondly they used a 3/4 inch pipe for the by pass to the kitchen...that causes and excessive amount of cold water to have to be forced through the system before the hot water could arrive at the kitchen sink. They sent one of their plumbers out that day to remedy the problem that they had caused- they eliminated the crossover and installed a 1/2 inch bypass instead of the 3/4 inch. I was pleased with their response to my call. A little more planning and checking by the supervisor of the installation crew would have avoided the problems that they had to come back to fix. They were responsive, admitted that they needed to fix the problems, and fixed the problems promptly thus I give them very high marks for the work that they did for me. I would use them again.

In general, the work they did was excellent. 4 folks working all day, 8:30am till 7:30pm. Tough, long day, lots of work. They consistently worked quickly, carefully, respectfully. Miguel in particular did an excellent job trying to figure out how to run new pex throughout the house, almost always accurately mapping out the structural intricacies of the house. There was some variation in experience level. Some damage was caused to a fiberglass shower, but Poole's quickly sent someone out to repair it. There were some stains left on the carpet where some folks hadn't removed shoes despite being asked. But that cleaned up pretty well. There were a few unexpected drywall cuts that will be expensive to repair, but I can't fault them as I couldn't see a better alternative. Some holes drilled in joists could have been better placed (more centered). Overall, they did good work at a fair price.
Description of Work: Have used them several times in the recent past. Had a plumbing leak in polybutylene pipe. Had many estimates for repipe of the entire house. All the estimates were close in price, but Poole's came in a little less and I had been happy with their prior work. Repiping a whole house is tough because it involves cutting into drywall attempting to route new pipe throughout a finished house. In our case, we had a manifold system with lots and lots of pipes criss crossing the house.

I've met Bob Poole at a Carolina Hurricanes game of all places. He has seats near me. A very nice man with his personality clearly imprinted onto his employees. Said differently, he sets an example of professionalism & integrity which is emulated by all of his employees. His employees were all terrific--caring & concerned about making us happy . From the receptionist who took the call to the 2 plumbers who came out, everything was great. They were on time(2 different days), cleaned up after themselves, did the job that our homebuilder (Toll Brothers) never would fix/correct. While they came out to fix my sump pump (they had to replace it and recommended a higher power unit than the builder was telling us we needed) and were very fair in their pricing. On their 'way out" I mentioned a leak on my pool filter when they asked if there was anything else they could do and while I was just asking them if they had an "O ring" which I knew would do the trick, they instead upon not just giving me the ring but also fixed the filter for me AT NO CHARGE!!! Good people, good service and highly recommended by me. Mr. Poole is a class act and it was obvious his employees like him very much and are happy in their jobs. RC

After replacing 4 shut-off valves for my toilets, Poole's recommended that I spend additional hundreds of dollars to replace 15 more shut-off valves in my home. After Poole's left, I talked with two other licensed plumbers and they both were confused about what Poole's had done. One told me to just go around and tighten the packing nuts on the remaining 15 or so valves that Poole's recommended changing. I did what he said and it took me 5 mins to fix the rest of the valves (only two needed to be tightened). The second licensed plumber physically inspected a couple of the toilet valves that had been discarded (I retrieved them from the trash cans where Poole's workers had put them) and said that they were in perfectly good condition. The last thing I want to explain is a little complicated, but I feel I should include it because it is why Poole's workers recommended replacing all of the rest of my shut-off valves. After Poole's finished replacing my 4 shut-off valves and the main water shut-off valve to my home had been turned back on, one of Poole's workers showed me a small flood in one of my bathrooms. He said it was due to a bad valve and it showed that all of the rest of my valves needed to be replaced. I showed the second licensed plumber the bathroom and the valves. I told him that all of the packing nuts on the valves were tight when I checked them and only one valve leaked a couple of dropes when it was turned on and off. The second plumber checked that valve, smiled, scratched his head and said that maybe the packing nut was loose when the bathroom flooded and Poole's worker tightened it. He said that the valve was still good and that he could not understand why Poole's worker had recommeded changing it and all the other valves. He explained that plumbing companies only have to have one licensed plumber. The rest of the workers do not have to be licensed. And maybe the people who worked on my house did not have much experience.

Response from Poole's Plumbing
My name is Tim carlin, I’m the service supervisor at Pooles Plumbing. I first would like to say that Pooles Plumbing by no means would ever try to take advantage of a homeowner by selling them something that they don’t need. Our service techs get paid hourly and there would be no benefit to them upselling to the customer. We stress this with the guys every Thursday during our weekly safety meeting. In regards to the concern that we send inexperienced service techs out into the field, our Techs go through a series of training courses on different aspects of plumbing. They do courses on tank less water heaters as well as standard tank type water heaters . they also get training in the different fixtures that are available on the market today, as well as general knowledge training by myself or the other field supervisor. The call in question had drips on multiple water cutoffs for the commodes. My service tech then tried to tighten down the packing nuts on each stop and was unsuccessful at stopping the leaks. He called to advise me of the situation. I advised my tech to quote the customer a price for changing out the valves. The way I look at a situation like this, its better to be proactive and put new materials in when dealing with water and especially cpvc water pipe. I advised the customer that this should be done, not to rip the customer off, but to protect their investment , and to protect pooles plumbing from getting a phone call down the road saying that we are responsible for flooding somebody’s home. When a homeowner calls Pooles Plumbing for a repair, that homeowner is trusting us to do the right thing, which we try to do in all situations. Let’s not forget that we never said that the customer had to have the extra work done, simply suggested it and gave a quote for the work. It’s not like we refused to do the call if he didn’t accept our recommendation. In the future I would hope that if there are issues with our service that the customer would at least give us a call to try to make the situation agreeable for the them. After all we are a service company and rely on our customers to survive. We take any kind of feedback very serious.

Poole's Plumbing provided a quick and detailed estimate of work to be performed in a water heater replacement estimate. Their followup was thorough as well as very professional and the only issue for not using their services was pricing. We would in the future not hesitate to call on them for another estimate if needed for future services.

Found through ServiceMagic. We had a water heater with a pilot light out. Poole's called the next morning and were extremely professional and courteous in lining up a plumber to come to our house that day to perform the repair. They quoted a range of cost (with and without parts if needed). The plumber arrived at the expected time and was able to repair the water heater without parts (clean out was all that was required). He also cleaned out our second water heater at no extra cost. Total was $110. Great experience, would definitely use again.
