The work they did was good. Took much longer than it should with large periods of time with no work being performed and no communication from Chris at all. I paid him in full towards the end of the project with one remaining job left to be performed and a promise and time frame to return. Haven’t heard from him since with no return calls or responses.

Chris started strong. We liked him and his design really captured our vision. The crew was nice and everyone worked hard and kept our yard in good shape during the project. But shortly into the work, "things" started to pop up. There were days when no one was working. Chris had multiple family emergencies that pulled him out of town. The project drug on for months past the original end date. Once the project was almost done except for some last details like installing the last few shrubs and correcting some lighting, Chris couldn't be found. When we experienced some issues with the lights he installed, same issue. He was always going to come by in a few days, but then he never came. When we would finally chase him down, it was after weeks of calling and texting. Very frustrating. His excuse was always the same - family matters or problems with the crew. It grew old. Sadly, we grew so frustrated with Chris that we just quit calling and have turned to other venders to come and fix the problems. It's a shame to think that something that started out so positive, exciting and fun could turn into such a frustrating, expensive mess. I would think twice before I used Chris or Green Art for a project at my home!
Description of Work: Chris designed our backyard entertainment area. His crew removed bushes, trees, graded the earth, put in drains and built a rock wall and patio area complete with a grilling and bar area. They also installed outdoor lighting in both the front and back yard and in the wall itself. They then landscaped the entire back area.

Description of Work: We had hard scape including 30 x 30 patio with seat wall, sunken fire pit, and waterfall installed. We also had extensive landscaping. The project was supposed to take a month....began in beginning of July and it was completed end of Sept. 2012. His workers were very professional and friendly. We were very pleased with the results until a month later. Parts of the hard scape had to be repaired and the waterfall began leaking leaving our entire yard waterlogged which effected the zoysia grass and killed two trees next to the waterfall. The large pine tree and poplar had to be removed at our own added expense. After numerous phone calls and emails, six months later the hard scape was repaired. The waterfall was refoamed, but leaked worse than before. Many, many, many phone messages and emails were sent. We were given the following excuses: terminally ill grandfather, too cold to repair, do not have workers to come since we are on another job somewhere else, will come at the end of our current job. Since we felt we had become friends, we kept giving him time to deal with his grandfather. In summer of 2013, we had him improve and add on to our sidewalk in hopes that he would repair the waterfall at the same time. He repaired the waterfall by removing rocks and resealing with foam. He stated,"I promise you it will not leak this time." At the time of payment for the completion of the sidewalk job, we withheld $500. We told Chris that if it does not leak after two weeks, we will give you the $500. In less than a week, it leaked so badly that we could only run it thirty minutes at a time. We have only been able to enjoy the waterfall one total month in three years and it cost $4000. Chris no longer returns our calls. If not for the waterfall, we would have given Chris higher scores in most areas. We love our yard and hard scape, but are heartsick that our main feature has never worked. We also felt disgusted and disappointed that a person we felt had become a friend did not back his warranty. We understand he may be losing money repairing it, but it never worked properly from the first installation. $4000 is a large amount of money to invest on an item that does not work. It is embarrassing to have functions at our home and have to explain the nonworking water feature. We have tried numerous companies to have it repaired, set up appointments, and have no one show or give us outlandish quotes. We would be more than happy to change our rating and give Chris the $500 if the waterfall was reinstalled correctly with a full one year warranty. Could you please recommend what to do to rectify this situation? We spent our nest egg for this project and are heart sick every time we walk out our back door. Thank you so much for your help in this matter.

They did a fabulous job and were much cheaper than a lot of others. They did a fabulous job. The workers were very nice. They were punctual. The owner was also very nice and very punctual. It went a little longer than expected because he had people quit on him and they had multiple jobs going, but we were fine with that. He did a phenomenal amount of work for the money. We're going to have him come out here in the Spring to do other work.
Description of Work: They put in a beautiful, two-tiered, six foot high, 60 feet long wall put in. They extended and filled the back yard, so it wasn't at a slant. He dug up all the plants and redid the whole back yard.

We give Green Art a C rating due to Chris Myrick’s habitual lack of responsiveness to our inquiries and requests for additional services. Chris repeatedly breaks scheduled meetings. Chris always has a reason for not making our scheduled appointments. We finally decided there are too many good landscaping companies in the area that will make the effort to arrive for scheduled appointments to continue the relationship. We feel comfortable with the quality of Green Art’s finished product and the staff doing the work. We are interviewing other landscaping firms due to this disappointing situation.
Description of Work: We initially engage Green Art to replace our 700 SF deck with a lower maintenance patio. Green Art demolished and removed our old deck. Green Art designed and built our patio including built-in gas grill, gas fire pit and gas-lanterns. Green Art also built new entry sidewalks using paver product. Green Art guided us with selection of landscaping materials for yard. We subsequently engaged Green Art to replace part of our driveway with paver product due to root damage.

Chris Myrick and his team did a fantastic job at a reasonable price. The crew was always polite, respectful and kept their work area as tidy as possible. Chris closely supervised his team and also worked directly with them whenever possible, providing updates and answering questions throughout the process. Green Art neutralized my weedy backyard, re-graded as necessary, buried downspout drains and installed new zoysia sod. They also installed a retaining wall along my front lawn, backfilled and installed new zoysia sod in the front.

A wonderful experience. The job was completed in a timely manner with great attention to detail and quality. Very responsive to any questions or requests. Great clean up at completion of the job. Seed and straw on bare spots producing thick grass. Nothing but raves from family, friends and neighbors. Already planning our next project for Chris.
Description of Work: 1. Brick underpinning for large sunroom 2. New brick porch 3. Large paver patio incorporating fire pit, seating wall, lighting columns and retaining walls for adjoining plant beds. 4. Large new plant bed with retaining wall in severely sloped area.

Both of my experiences with Chris of Green Art have been nothing but excellent. When I first met Chris for the installation of my retaining wall in 2009, he was one of 5-10 vendors that I had quote for the project. I checked references on all of them. Chris' references were excellent and his pricing was very competitive and a lot lower than several of the other contractors. Chris explained all of the details of the project beforehand and during the project. The crew was great and kept everything neat and clean. The project was done in the timeframe he projected. During the end of the project, Chris added about 50-100 sq feet of retaining wall at pricing well below the original quote (basically at cost) as I wanted to expand the wall from what I originally planned. He not only stayed within budget but accommodated my additional requests as the project progressed. Overall, the experience I had with Chris and his crew was nothing but excellent. I had Chris come back and quote additional projects to complete my backyard (items listed above). Again, I cannot say enough of my interactions with Chris and his crew (which was the same crew that he had in '09 which says a lot). He was professional, extremely fair pricing relative to other quotes I received, his crew was great and cleaned up after each day of work, timely, and went above and beyond our expectations. There are a couple more projects I have in mind a couple years down the road and I know who I will be using. Others in my neighborhood have used Chris and Green Art with similar experiences. I will try and post pictures if that is possible.
Description of Work: This is the second time I have used Chris with Green Art. The first time he constructed a retaining wall about 80 feet in length with an average height of 4 feet. This was done in 2009. More recently (September 2012), Chris just completed about 700 square feet of paver patio, landscape design, plant installation, downspout/irrigation installation, 3000 square feet of sodding, and about 40 square feet of stone wall.

Chris helped turn our design and concept into reality. He was very collaborative and very easy to work with. Once we had agreed the design the team set to work. Having his own excavator for a job of this size was essential as it was used 70% of the time. The correct methods were applied for the retaining walls and patio areas and the deck passed inspection. Chris was very flexible and sensible with regards scope changes and was often open to reaching a fair compromise regarding scope change costs. Often additional items were performed at little or no cost. The overall result was achieved over 4 weeks with a few final touches completed within 6 weeks. The team worked very hard and achieved a great result.
Description of Work: Chris at Green Art was hired to landscape our back yard. The yard was mainly grass and sloped from left to right dropping by about 4 feet. Chris helped with our initial design which was created to re-claim much of our space and turn it into a sociable usable area. This included excavation of 900 sq feet, 120 sq feet of retaining wall, entrance pillars with iron gate, deck extension with mountings and space for a hot tub, re-sod of turf area, 800 sq feet of patio, fire pit, lighting, water feature, mulch and landscape planing. We spent a few months planning this ourselves and looking at ideas on houzz.com (great resource for getting ideas). We thought about doing this in stages, however once the work starts it is best to get it all done.

We utilized Green art (Chris Myrick) to “redo” our backyard and fence. They built a large patio out of paver and a large retaining wall throughout the backyard. The project had an original estimate of 3 weeks (in total they were there for closer to 7 weeks). In the process of building the patio they connected one of the houses down spouts into the crawl space drain, which resulted in the flooding the crawl space after the first hard rain. They corrected the down spout, but never “fixed” the crawl space. As a result, I am having to pay another company to dry out the crawlspace and redo the plastic as to stop the mold growth. We also had Chris install landscape lighting throughout the back yard. After the first week we started losing bulbs. There appears to be a short somewhere within the line, because we have to replace almost all of the bulbsevery month. We have been in repeat contact with Chris over the last 9 months and he has stated a several times that he would be over to correct the problems. He has yet to live up to his word, so at this point we will behiring other contractors to complete\fix his work and we will pursue legal action.
Description of Work: We had Chris Myrick and Crew do the following: A lrage 6 ft Fence around our back yard. A large patio(pavers). Stone firepit and bench (pavers) 2 large retaining walls Plants, trees etc through out the property
