D.H. Construction Company is dedicated to providing you with quality products and services at fair prices! We are factory certified installers. D.H. Construction Company is not a “sell all do all” kind of company. We are dedicated to providing you with all the facts to make the right decision regardless of who you choose to do it. We offer our home improvement products and services to all residents in NC.
We hired DH Construction about 2.5 years ago to reside the entire house, new roof, trim work etc. Since that time we have had DH Construction out a couple of times to address minor issues. One that was created by HVAC service and Brian's guys came out replaced the siding and a couple small pieces of trim at no cost to us! The latest was to repair some water damage above the garage door created by a piece of flashing not positioned correctly. I contacted Brian and emailed a few pictures showing the issue. We scheduled a date and time that Brian and his team would meet with us. After seeing the issue and the cause his team went to work resolving the problem at no cost to us. The problem is now resolved and looks like it did when the job was completed 2.5 ago. The service we have received from DH Construction has been excellent from day one and still now 2.5 years later. This type of service confirms our first impression of Brian that he is an honorable and trust worthy man that I highly recommend.

Brian Howell came to my home, was on time and after assessing the condition of the masonite, provided me with a very thorough estimate. I was very impressed with Brian's commitment to doing the replacement right and not having to return for any workmanship failures in the future. I decided to paint the masonite for now as I had undertaken other major upgrades and did not want to stretch my home budget at the time. I would definitely contact Brian again.

We just had our 3 story house resided with hardiplank by DHConstruction. Brian Howell was the person who we interacted with and who you want to make sure to deal with. He was excellent, carefully explaining everything, identifying additional problems found, and making the pricing and payment easy to understand. He was in constant contact so we always knew what was happening and being planned. DH Construction was not the lowest bid we received. However, it was easily the best choice given the excellent job they did. They use superior materials, including paint and wrapping the house in rainguard to let the house breathe while keeping moisture out. The work was top notch and the house looks great. We found the usual facia that needs to be replaced and a rotten window frame and base sill of the house. All taken care of by Brian and his crew (at extra cost of course). We didn't have to call any other contractors, including people to replace the gutters. They even blind nailed the siding where ever we didn't have 2x4 crowning problems due to the house's original construction. If you want to go with the lowest bid somewhere else, watch out for one layer of inexpensive paint, little prep and priming, schedule delays, extra cost for electrical connections, confusing billing, face nailing everything, not wrapping the house in rainguard, higher cost to replace rotten wood, poor workmanship and shoddy cleanup. You get what you pay for. We highly recommend Brian Howell and D H Construction.

We ended up interviewing 8 siding companies and narrowed our choices to DH Construction and another company. Since my husband and I had differing opinions on who we needed to hire we invited the final two back out for a final discussion. After hearing the two proposals again, my husband and I felt like DH Construction was not going to rush through, would remove all the wood rot (others wanted to cover-up the rot on the fascia boards), and give us the quality workmanship that we both wanted. We felt like Brian was a very honest person and wanted to give us the best product possible. As the job started my husband and I were very nervous with the amount of money the project would cost and we knew that there was a high probability of damage that we couldn't see. However, our nerves began to subside and we began to see that Brian and his team were dedicated to doing a quality job while providing the most information to us as possible. They uncovered termite damage at the garage, rot on a sil joist, and rot around our window, however, they always took the time to explain the problem, possible solutions and discussed the costs of replacing with us prior to proceeding. His team was very quick to respond to any concerns that we had and when we asked Brian to come out and discuss one of the repairs he was at our house at 7 am the next day so we could discuss it. He was quick to return any phone calls and always wanted to make sure as a customer we were satisfied with the outcome. His team was very flexible and completed additional work that we added on to the original quote such as replacing our soffits, covering our vented gables (due to a new vented roof), and painting our shed. All which he quickly agreed to complete without any hesitation. All of his crews that came to the house to work were fantastic, they are experts at their job and worked hard the whole time they were here. We have had several complements on the house since it was complete and my husband keeps stating that house is more structurally sound today than it was 17 years ago when he bought it. We are more than happy with the quality and service that DH Construction provided. Brian constantly stated throughout the process that he wanted us to be completely satisfied with the final product and we couldn't be more happy. Brian's commitment to quality and reassuring words made us feel like our satisfaction was the highest priority throughout the entire process. The absolute best thing about this entire process was the way Brian treated us throughout the job. We started out looking for a contractor but truly believe that we have found a friend.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review for us! As we discussed, a lot of times it is the rot that causes headaches, allergies, etc. due to the particulates in the air from the rot. Now that it has been extracted and properly repaired, your home is now better than new and the air quality should be superb! We enjoyed working for you and thank you for choosing us! Provider did not make any attempts to call or reschedule, even when another job took precedence (6 weeks after initial call). The last thing I'd want from a no show provider is free advice.
Description of Work: Oct 3, 2013-I emailed them & described what I needed> replacement/repair vinyl siding on my house. I left my contact information and Brian Howell agreed to come out, even emailing back pics for clarity of the job required. Nov 6, 2013- I checked back because I had not heard from them. He said they had left a message/prices on my front door & for me to call when I got back into town, but there was nothing on my door. Nov 7,2013-Brian H & I agreed on a new time to meet, Nov 21, but he also offered to come the week of Nov 11th to get an estimate quicker if I wanted him to. I agreed. Nov 21, 2013- No one came during the week of Nov 11, nor on Nov 21. I simply did not hear from them. Nov 29, 2013- Cleaning off my desk of unfinished business before the holidays, I sent this email to Brian Howell."My guess is that Nov 21 did not work for you". His response >"No it didn't. We had a house that had all the siding removed and rain was in the forecast so it took priority as it would have had we been on your home. I do oppoligize. I would like to refer Rain Go Inc to you. Their number is: 919-369-7067. They can possibly get you taken care of quicker than we can. If you need any free advice, please feel free to email me. I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving!

This customers first message to us was: I need my vinyl siding replaced on 3 sides of the house, due to a remodeling job, a tornado and a contractor that would not come back and finish the job. I am going out of town on Sat Oct 5th and will return Wed Oct 16. Hope you can fit an estimate in, Thank you! The next message she sent said that she wanted to take vinyl off of part of her home and move it to another part. We normally will not take old material off of a home and move it to another because its asking for problems sooner than later. With that said, we sent our estimator out to her home to evaluate it. He called me and stated theres no way to reuse her old siding and do it correctly. I told him to quote for all three sides and leave the estimate on her front door and leave a note for her to call when she got back, which he did. We have a copy of the estimate that was left for her. We tried several times to offer times we could meet her, none of which worked for her. She did email me asking about the 21st of November in which I respond, it depends on what time. We had all the siding removed from a home November 21st and made that customers home priority to get it dried in before the rain. The 10+ estimates we had scheduled for that day understood completely and were rescheduled with no problems. Any customer/home we are working for takes precedence when it comes to weather. I don't know what we could have done for this customer over and above the time/gas we spent doing the initial quote as well as the attempts we made to meet/talk with her. I truly believe theres a reason why the other contractor wouldn't come back to finish her job. We responded to her on Thanksgiving day (the email she posted above), offered her free advice if needed as well as referred her to another company that possibly could meet her "needs". We specialize in doing quality work and customer service. Unfortunately you can't please everybody (even though we try) as is the case here, although I truly wish we could. I don't know what else we could have done. I sincerely hope she finds a contractor thats a good fit for her. -Brian Howell

We used Angie?s List to find Brian Howell and DH Construction. We needed to replace large segments of our Masonite siding and discussed options with Brian. We decided to replace all the siding with Hardiplank. Brian?s team r emoved the old siding, wrapped the house and installed the Hardiplank siding. Our chimney had some some unforeseen problems which they fixed. They painted the trim and new siding. A little over a year later, we needed to replace our roof. Again, we called on Brian. He provided a quote and as of the end of October, 2013 we have a new roof. We went with Landmark shingles. Bottom line we are extremely happy with the new roof and siding. Brian and his team were very professional. They answered our questions, explained options and even did a great job cleaning up after the job was done.
Description of Work: Siding $29,900 (Spring, 2012) and Roofing $14,400 (Fall, 2013): Replaced siding and one exterior door. Painted the house. The following year we replaced the roof.

I got a quote from Brian Howell last summer and it took a few months to decide to move forward with the project; after I contacted Brian with the go ahead, it took a few more months before his crew could get to me, but I understood then (and better understand now after having them around for ten weeks) that they focus all of their attention on the house they're working on, rather than rushing to get it done in a set amount of time so they can go on to the next job. I had many problems with my house because the builder was more interested in building as many houses as they could as quickly as possible, so I greatly appreciate Brian's emphasis on quality. Once the crew started, in mid-May, they started with a bang. They started removing the old, rotting wood siding and had every bit of it down within just a couple of days. The sub fascia was in bad shape and they ended up having to replace a large section of the porch roof and one of the porch posts due to rotted wood. After the repairs, they started on the siding, which went up in just a few days. Next came the windows; I chose a sash replacement system, and they were able to replace nearly all of the windows in a single day. After that I settled on colors and details (exterior lights, new door locks) and they started painting. I made a late decision to replace the back door, so they had to do extra work, but they were great about it and Brian gave me a fair price on the labor. I was impressed with the crew and with Brian?s business practices throughout the process, and I am thrilled with the final result. Yes, there were costs that I was not expecting, but Brian told me what they were before they did the work and I approved every dime. He was more than fair on costs and made sure I was happy at every step in the project. The foreman, John, kept me updated on what was happening and took care of every little detail; I was so thankful to have him on the job. The crew moved quickly, but the work was done well, and I no longer worry about my house falling down around me. After my experience with DH Construction, I won?t even consider another contractor for a job that Brian?s crew can handle. I highly recommend this company; you won?t be disappointed.

Working with Brian, John, & the crew was a great experience from start to finish! Brian was responsive & communicative, from the initial estimate to keeping us informed about scheduling & any issues that came up as the project went on. The decision to add new windows was not part of the initial plan/estimate, so I appreciated Brian's flexibility and quick response to the addition and in providing us options & estimates. John did an excellent job of supervising & coordinating all of the sub-projects; I felt confident in the work that he and his team were doing as I saw the ways in which he double-checked work ( e.g.measurements for the windows' placement) but also provided feedback. The paint job is *amazing* and we have gotten many compliments from our neighbors. We feel like we have a new house! I would definitely recommend DH Construction & use them for future projects.

We can't say enough good things about this company and the job they did. They were careful and took their time to ensure a quality job. Top quality materials were used for everything. They didn't just slap new shingles over the old, although they could have. When they found problems not covered in the contract (bad wood, mainly) they always informed us before undertaking a repair. Brian actually did more than the contract called for because he felt it would look better. His workers were always friendly and cleaned up pretty well on a daily basis. Our house looks great and we'll never have to do this again. Thanks Brian.

Everything went smoothly. This is the type of company I like doing business with and would not hesitate to use them in the future if I needed their services, or to recommend them to neighbors. Two thumbs up to DH Construction!!!
Description of Work: I had two pieces of vinyl siding that came off my house. I needed someone to put it back on the house. I called DH Construction because they were located close to my part of the county. Brian was very accomodating and he told me that the job was small, and although they were busy, he would take care of it because he lived close by. He also said that he wouldn't charge me because it wasn't "a big deal." He called me when he was going to come by and when I got home from work that day, the repair was done. My house looked happy again!

Went well. Everyone was skilled, friendly, responsive and professional. The entire project took several weeks which was a reasonable time given the work involved. Final cost was very high, but also very reasonable given the amount work done. The final product has received nothing but rave reviews from everyone who sees it - including all our neighbors. Brian is an excellent communicator and was very willing to entertain any and all questions. Excellent warranty on the products and the work. Other than routine painting, I'm confident that we won't have to worry about the siding again as long as we live in this house.
Description of Work: Very, very extensive work. Re-sided entire house in Certainteed cement fiber siding. Significant structural repairs to chimney, bay window area, nearly all facia and sub-facia boards and nearly all exterior window trim. Replaced entire front porch railing. Replaced all gutters (subbed out but also excellent work).

Thank you for writing such a nice testimonial Member! I remember when you first contacted me about this home right before you purchased it and the "deal" the seller was willing to give you on the house. We found out why, didn't we! Its better than new now and you will not have to worry about the exterior. As with all jobs we do, it was done correctly! We look forward to building the deck and sunroom for you in the future! Thanks again! Sincerely, Brian
During the initial correspondence with Brian by e-mail, he listened to what I wanted and made suggestions to fill those needs. I then talked to him on the telephone on a couple of occasions to answer any questions he might have, and to advise of other work I'd like to have done. Brian told me that since I was working out of town that he would take photos of the progress as it was being completed and send them to me, to make it seem as though I were there in person to see the work completed. Brian took several photos after the job was started and continued to do so until the job was finished. The overall costs exceeded the contract price that DH Construction quoted and received. These additional costs could not have been avoided. I am highly satisfied with the quality of work I received from DH Construction. I am also highly satisfied with the communication from Brian and the workmanship provided by his Angies List crew. These men worked long hard hours to finish the job to my satisfaction and I could not be happier. I was extremely impressed with the fact that Brian and his crew were not trying to meet a deadline, so they could rush to the next job. This work was professional, orderly and planned out on a daily basis. The overall job was finished when I was satisfied. Photos of the finished product to follow.
Description of Work: While searching Angie's List for a suitable siding contractor, I found one just down the street from my own home with excellent customer reviews. I contacted Brian Howell at DH Construction Company initially by e-mail in mid February 2012. After he responded to my first e-mail, then several more e-mails were exchanged due to the fact that I was working out of town. I was unsure what type of siding to install on my home since I wanted something durable, that would add value or retain my homes current value. I knew vinyl siding was not going to be an option. Brian went to my home to complete an estimate and suggested that one of the best sidings on the market is Certainteed Weatherboards. He sent me a quote for the work to be accomplished and I accepted. Unfortunately at the time I was number five on the list due to other projects that were lined up before me, but this worked out to my advantage. DH Construction completed the following work on my home. Removed 3400 sq. ft. of Masonite siding and vertical trim boards from home and inspected underlying structure for damage.Wrapped home in premium Rain Drop home wrap with built in rain screen. Taped all seams. Taped all windows using UV barrier/flashing tape. Install Miratec vertical trim boards. Capped all applicable windows and doors with custom aluminum flashing made on site to fit the home. Installed Certainteed Weatherboards (Cedarlap) with 7 inch exposure. Remove all fascia boards and soffits. Installed Miratec fascias and Certainteed fiber cement soffits, vented and solid. Caulked all applicable areas using Shermax caulking. Painted the exterior of home to a color of my choice using Sherman Williams Duration Paint. Since I found DH Construction on Angies List, I was given an Angies List premium of having 100 feet of rotten cosmetic wood replaced at no charge and all work was completed by the Angies List Crew. This crew only does work for their Angies List customers. Work started on Monday, May 14, 2012 approximately one week before I returned home and was completed by June 28, 2012. By Monday, May 21st, my old siding was removed and the house was completely wrapped with Rain Drop wrap. I met Brian and his crew for the first time on this same day. Brian walked me around the house, explained the work and advised me of the problem areas he and his crew had identified while removing the old siding. This damage consisted of some areas of rotten wood and such that would need to be repaired before the new siding could be installed. The additional work ran approximately $10-15K in addition to the contract price given above by DH Construction. Actually I had expected the additional costs. A Bay Window frame was deteriorated and the window was sagging. There were several areas of rotten wood on the home and extensive damage underneath the deck and the porch on back of the house. Footings were installed under the back deck due to the fact the previous home owners neglected to do so, and the whole porch was sinking. New columnns were installed on the front porch, back deck and side porch and then painted. This work was completed by a crew who was also recommended to me. All the old siding and rubbish were removed from my property by DH Construction.

Excellent. The first words Brian said when we informed him that he got the job was ?you will not regret this decision?. This provider consistently communicated what was going on and how they were taking care of us. The crew was very professional and kept the yard area picked up. Eddie and John went out of their way to show us places where the wood had rotted behind the Masonite that we had removed. Much of our roof underlayment was rotted too, so there was a lot of extra work. Excellent professionalism, excellent work, the crew was very friendly and professional themselves and if we had any concerns at all, they immediately addressed them to our compete satisfaction. This provider constantly made us feel comfortable about the work being done and that they would ensure our satisfaction. We are very happy with the results; we feel that we truly have a new home!

An honest professional! David came out to look at a house we recently purchased even though it was outside of his normal service area. He looked at the exterior of the house and explained what needed to be done and what wasn't necessary. He even went into detail about how I could make the repairs myself! He probably saved us a few thousand dollars since I was convinced by another contractor that we needed to replace all of our siding! I was very impressed and would not hesitate to hire David.

Our crews are 4 man+ per crew. Due to the size of this customers job, sending out our 4 man crew would have been overkill and more expensive for such a simple repair. To save the customer money we suggested that they contact a handyman.
Brian and his crew just finished a huge job on our 2300 sq ft home and we couldn't be more pleased that not only did we get what we expected from his detailed description of work to be preformed but that Brian and his team EXCEEDED our expectations in craftsmanship, professionalism, and constant communication with us on every aspect as the job proceeded. The job we hired Brian to do seemed daunting to us but Brian was confident and well prepared and kept us up to date with every detail and answered all questions as comprehensively as possible. Brian stressed to us that he wanted us to be happy with the work being done and was available within moments to answer our questions at every turn. Our house was built in 1996 with Masonite siding that we had been replacing little by little as it rotted. As we started to notice more and more siding rot and the roof showed signs of distress we knew it was time to protect our property value and have the job done right! We had seven companies evaluate the job and provide estimates. Brian impressed us from the get-go and his quote was complete with comprehensive details and information on every aspect of the job including the materials to be used. Brian discussed with us the most cost effective way to replace our roof, siding, windows and Entryway system while using higher quality materials than originally used when the house was built. Brian was able to point out areas of rot and told us there could be other areas that were not visible. His lead carpenter Eddie showed us and photographed all rotten areas as the old siding was being removed. It was shocking to see how wet some of the wood was under the siding even though we had the house painted and caulked 2 additional times since it was built. The roof was replaced in the first stage of the job and Brian used high grade felt and high quality roof shingles. Eddie and team took great care to cover all exposed areas while the work was under way to keep the house weather proofed during the roof and siding installations. When the siding was removed each section of the house was covered with Raindrop, a protective barrier between siding and structure, which protects our house from any possible future water damage. Brian?s crew used thick tape around every window. We noticed at this stage of construction that our house was less drafty than it was when the old siding was up and the new siding hadn?t even been installed yet! It turned out that the original builder neglected to tape around ANY of our windows or use any type of barrier between siding and structure to keep the house air and water tight. Then the Hardiplank siding, window repair, trim work, extra architectural interests, and new front door system were installed. The pride Brian, Eddie, and crew have in their work was evident when the job was done. The craftsmanship is fantastic from the carpentry work and recommended material down to the paint job (recommended by Brian and done by Hercules Paint Company) with Sherwin Williams Duration paint. Our house is now air and water tight with great curb appeal! We?ve had several neighbors comment on the great job Brian did on the house! We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Brian and won?t consider anyone else with any future remodeling projects. Brian kept us WELL informed at ALL times and was never more that a moment away. Brian Howell is THE guy to go to! Thanks for a great job Brian!

I have very bad rot damage to the siding of our house. As well as the rot around the large window on the 2nd story. I called DH Construction to schedule an appointment and left a message. Brian called back immediately and was in the area and was able to drop by my house immediately to give an estimate. I spoke with Brian and he was very professional very knowledgeable in explaining to me the damage involved with the rot and under the rot with the siding. His construction advise was also about doing a thorough job instead of a quick fix band aid repair as we have had from the past dealing with other handymen. Brian was very helpful, he even offered that if we could not afford anything to fix that he would happily cover the window with a tarp to prevent any more water damage, cause we were afraid any more damage the window would fall out. Brian also offered that if we go with someone else that he would be available to answer any questions we may come across dealing with someone else. I appreciate the extreme professionalism and knowledge that Brian has in his line of work. The damage was just so bad my budget was limited and if any other damage showed beneath the rot I would not be able to afford it. But I would highly recommend DH Construction to anyone looking to have siding repair.
Description of Work: We have a very large picture window near the second floor to which the wood frame around the window was so bad with rot we were worried it would fall out. We also have that cheap plank siding that had alot of water damage. We were looking to have replaced with Hardi Plank. The section to be repaired was half of the back of the house to include the picture window and chimney.

Our 1800 sq ft home was built in 1986 in the N. Raleigh Area. It was sided with Masonite. My wife, son and I, have lived here for 5 years, and plan on another 4 - 5. We needed to spice up our curb appeal, repair some significantly damaged siding, and increase our resale value (without pricing ourselves out of the neighborhood). Let me start by saying that since websites like Angie's List and Service Magic have been created, the homeowner is given some great tools to get their specific projects done. The ability to reach out to many contractors/companies for free estimates is simply amazing... it can also be a bit overwhelming. I had at least 10 different contractors/companies come out to give me estimates on 2 very specific items: 1) Repair existing damaged Masonite siding and repaint 2) remove all siding and reside using fiber cement (HardiPlank and CertainTeed). Each contractor gave me a different price, recommendation, and feeling (it's important). Once I had seen them all, I had narrowed it down to my top 3. Brian wouldn't even quote me on the first item -- he felt it was a disservice to me if we spent the money on repairs, only to have to continually repair and paint as time went on. From the get-go I felt like Brian and DH were the right fit, but I'm not one to make a hasty decision. As my wife and I discussed our options we had questions, changes in scope, and concerns. As we reached out to the 3 different construction teams, Brian made a special visit for almost every call I made. He brought samples, introduced me to references, walked the house (probably on 5 different occasions), explained everything I needed to know (I had more questions than you can count). The other contractors/companies would simply answer my questions via phone (which isn't necessarily bad), but if I am going to part with a large sum of money, I need to be 100% confident I am getting what I pay for. Needless to say (after all that), we decided to go with DH Construction. It took a few weeks for us to get on the schedule (things where apparently busy this fall- I now know why!) and we were kept in the loop on start dates, who would be coming, and times. All of Brian's guys are a pleasure to work with. They were personable, respectful, laser-focused, and dedicated to remodeling our house like it was there own.... Brian's team is simply top notch. The lead guy EDDIE was an absolute master carpenter. Everything from demo and repairs to siding installation was done with precision and with care. I work from home, so I watched them work very closely (I have about 1000 pictures). They allowed me to watch and ask questions, asked for my approval along the way (before proceeding) and immediately alerted me when additional rot or damage was found. Brian, Eddie, and team will not install or paint over rotten or faulty infrastructure... they documented anything/everything that needed to be addressed before installation so that nothing went unnoticed or questioned. Brian was also on site at least 2 times each week to check on progress and check in with us... it really kept us sane. Really long story short: We could not have been happier with Brian, his team, his work, product, and price. It was a pleasurable experience from start to finish (it's rare these days) and I am thankful for DH Construction and what they have done for our family. The project wrapped up right before the holidays, so we were able to show it off during our Christmas gatherings. The responses were inredible -- we certainly have the nicest looking house on the cul de sac... it is also inspiring a few other neighbors to start looking at siding options as well (let's bring up that property value!). They already have Brian's details and I'm sure you'll see their comments here this year. Awesome business, awesome guys, awesome work, and they are honest... I know have a go-to Construction team for life. I really can't sum it up any better. Thanks DH Construction!
Description of Work: DH fully resided our 1800 sq ft home with CertainTeed fiber cement Weatherboards in cedar lap, remediated all rot and water damage, and rebuilt 2 small porches (see below for more detail): We had DH remove all existing Masonite and repair some extensive water damage that had been "lurking" behind the Masonite (we didn't know it was that bad until after the Masonite was removed). Brian saw a few tell-tale signs during our initial meetings, so it wasn't a total surprise. New Raindrop House wrapping We had 3 windows removed, re-framed, and re-installed (due to water damage issues). We had a side door replaced (it was just old). We had small front and side entranceway porches rebuilt (posts, handrails, and pickets). We had the house painted (doors, trim, porches, siding) in 2 coats of Sherwin-Williams Duration paint (it is gorgeous!) Installed 2 outdoor speakers in soffit

Brian came out and looked at the house and gave me two estimates. First estimate was for the work I wanted to do. Second estimate was for a more comprehensive repair. We went with the second option, and I'm glad we did. From start to finish, we were never at the house when the crew was there, but they did a good job. I was out of town, but got good info on progress. Area was cleaned up well when work was finished.
Description of Work: Replaced vinyl siding on one end of our house.

Brian came to our house shortly after my call. He walked around the house with me and explained everything involved with the repair at each location and the possible condition of framing behind the trim. When it came to replacing the drip ledge over the garage door, Brian convinced me to replace the Masonite siding on both sides and just above the door with house wrap and Hardy plank. His reasoning being that when we do eventually get the rest of the house siding replaced, non of the work his crew does will have to be replaced.Later that same day Brian sent me the quote. Although his price was slightly high than another quote I received, I felt more comfortable DH Construction do the work. When I let Brian know I wanted DH to do the work, he appaulogized for not being able to fit us into their schedule for several weeks, but gave me the option of having his crew come the next Saturday for no extra cost. Done. That Saturday, Brian and his crew showed up on time and ready to go. After Brian walked around the house with me and his foreman to explain everything, DH Construction got right to work. While the carpenter was removing the trim and siding around the garage door, he brought to my attention that the framing holding up the header on one end of the garage door opening had rotted to a point that it was no longer holding up anything. The add for repairing the framing was $120. For the labor to take more trim apart and put back together as well as the framing, $120 was a very good price. That was the only problem found beyond what the estimate covered. As they finished each area, they would seal and prime everything before putting two coats of paint on by the end of day. When they finished, the foreman walked around with me to make sure everything was the way I wanted it. After they they finished cleaning up all of debris from their work and left our house looking much better than how they found it. The next Monday I found one seam they had overlooked while sealing. I called Brian, and within an hour someone came out and took care of it.
Description of Work: Replace the trim at 3 locations on our house that had become rotten from water penetratioin. Replace Masonite siding around garage door with Hardy plank. Remove and replace grout between the brick chimney and 3 stories of exterior wall.

We have not yet hired anyone for the job (have not gotten that far) but want to let others know how impressed we were so far with DH.
Description of Work: The owner of DH provided us with a free estimate to have Hardiplank siding replaced and a window installed. He arrived on time and was very professional. He emailed us the estimate within the stated time. We were very pleased with his detailed estimate and professionalism. We certainly are considering him for the job. Thanks!

In late August, I invited four different companies to give me quotes on exterior siding replacement and roofing. The companies I invited were from Angie's List. DH Construction (Brian) came out and surveyed my house. We walked around and he told me what he saw that needed repair and what he recommended I do. I asked him to prepare an estimate as i did with the other three. Most estimates came in about the same price range. Brian was the most forthright in how he planned to do the job, what materials he recommended, the cost of repairs outside the scope of his estimate, etc. He said that he most strongly recommended Hardiplank and primed only. He told me the type of paint he would use, the warranty he provides with painting, and discussed the other materials he uses on the job. I selected DH Construction based on his openness and the good reviews on Angie's List. Also, he told me that it was a family business and how he had pride in the quality of workmanship they do. Since I was also putting a new roof on the house, we discussed who should come first. It was concluded that siding goes up first. We scheduled the job and he arrived on that day. The job took approximately four weeks, with rain in between. We found some structural damage under the siding. He quoted me a price to repair the two areas. Since the estimate was slightly higher than actual work, Brian offered to complete other wish list items for the difference. That showed high integrity and openness. Overall, the new siding, the repairs of the structures, new window sills and fascia boards plus the exterior painting were of the highest quality. Where ever I found some slight: "missed" spots, they corrected everything. And the job came in on budget. Finally, the painters were excellent and most concerned about their quality of work. I used a contractor they recommended for new gutters and downspouts, and they were excellent. Two recommendations I made to Brian: 1) Start earlier than 8:30am; Take advantage of available daylight. I don't mind. and, 2) Really cleanup each day and especially when they finish work right before the weekend. When I brought to their attention, they were over right away and cleaned up any materials left in the yard. I found the workmen to be courteous, trustworthy and concerned about what I thought of the job. And, when I texted Brian, he always got back to me right away.
Description of Work: Replaced all masonite siding, which was approximately 20 years old, with hardiplank. I used hardiplank that was primed only. I wanted it to be painted rather than have a factory finished paint. Replaced all damaged window sills (6). Repaired some structural beams, near garage, that were water damaged. Replaced fascia boards that had similar water damaged. Painted the entire "exterior" of the house including windows, porch banisters and gates. Cleaned and stained wood deck. Replaced all rain gutters and downspouts, by their recommended contractor.
