Description of Work: Convenient Appliances handled a warranty repair of my double oven. Jeremy, the employee who handled our job was first-rate. He made sure the job was done correctly, no matter how much time it took. And he was very nice to deal with, as well. I would recommend this company.

We have lived in our house for 3 years and were told that it we vacant before that time so we were the first to use our appliances. I had some sparks shoot up through the knobs of our range. I contacted this company. A technician came out and thought that the igniters should be replaced. He asked me to provide the deed to our house to prove we have only been here as long as we told him and I did provide a copy of the deed to his surprise. Ryan called and claimed that he had talked to kitchen aide and that the parts were not going to be covered so I could order them from him to get my range fixed in a timely manner for hundreds of dollars or call kitchen aide to battle it out. I called kitchen aide and they claimed that they had no record of him even calling about my range which he had claimed to have done an hour before. Then, after speaking with kitchen aide, they agreed to send the igniters along with rewriting the unit and replacement knobs for the parts that were melted due to the flames. So, we wait a week or so, the technician comes out only with the igniters and said that he was only told to replace those by Ryan. He did not have the knobs, covers and was not going to rewire as kitchen aide suggested. The guy got done, I called Ryan and told him that I wanted to pay when they brought me all of the parts. Ryan then threatened to place a lien on my house for the $75 service call. I live in a half million dollar house and my husband and I are professionals. I was pregnant and he was threatening a pregnant woman and he knew that I was upset about them not doing what kitchen aide told me they needed to do and I was worried that my range was going to continue to emit fire balls. I called kitchen aide to report Ryan's misconduct. Ryan made a big deal hat he was going to meet my husband to hand deliver the knobs when they came in after my husband got involved due to ryan's threats. My husband took off work to wait for the weasel and he never rang our doorbell, but threw a bag of parts on our entryway. Maybe the technician gave Ryan a heads up that my husband is 6 foot 5 and looks like a AMA fighter! And, when you ask Ryan to speak to the owner, he claims to be the owner. Apparently, Ryan is involved with the owner's daughter, but he is not the owner. FAST FORWARD: A few months later, my range is now exploding when more than three burners are running. Flames coming up through the knobs again. I call kitchen aide and tell them that I don't want Convenient Appliance. We agree on another company. They come out and fix the issue. NO CHARGE!!! Also, it was not the ignitors at all, it was the valves and when convenient appliance put my range back together after replacing the valves, they left some of the gas lines loose. The could have been a major explosion. I also told found out from the new repair guy that Ryan has never so much as serviced a bicycle. He has a terrible reputation and this new company has been called to fix his mess ups. I had heard enough. I called Ryan back and asked to speak to the owner. He told me that he would not give me that information unless I identified myself, which I did. Then, again, he claimed to be the owner. I told him that I knew that not to be the truth. He told me that I had to tell him what I was calling about and I told him it was him. He told me that he noted in my file that I did not want to pay my bill, so they will not provide me any service. I told him that I did not want his service and I was going to give him one more opportunity to give me the owners info. He finally did. I called the REAL owner. He has a 336 area code and is not in the Raleigh office. He seems like a good man and did not know all of this was going on. No wonder, when you have Ryan claiming to be the owner. The bottom line is that I would not hire Ryan and his cronies to pick up feces out of my yard. Ryan lies, he's unethical, he has no experience in this line of work and who wants to be threatened to have a lien placed on your property for a measly service call when the technicians forgot half of the items that they were supposed to bring. I expect Ryan will drive these Raleigh location into the ground very soon, it's only been here for a few years anyway as a offshoot of the other locations in Winston Salem -Greensboro area.

Response from Convenient Appliance Service Inc
[member name removed] contacted our office on 6/21/12 with a problem on her gas cook top. [member name removed] stated at that time that she was cleaning the unit and sparks shot up from igniter area when using the machine. We scheduled her for the next day to go out and diagnose the problem. On 6/22/12, [member name removed] was scheduled for a 1-3 appointment w/ Brandon Gill. Brandon arrived at 1:43 and diagnosed that the customer had shorted out a switch assembly on her cooktop when cleaning the unit. Brandon explained to [member name removed] that we did not have the switch assembly needed to complete the repair and that he would contact the customer with the price of the repair along with an ETA of parts needed. That afternoon, Brandon contacted the customer with the estimate for the repair and [member name removed] was upset with the cost. [member name removed] claimed, at that point, that she should be under warranty for the repair. I explained that I showed she had bought the cooktop on 6/05/09 from Sears. I explained that this cooktop came with a 1 year warranty but covered certain components for five years. Components that were covered for five years unfortunately were not needed for the repair. The only way to override her purchase date would be to come up with a closing document showing that she had purchased the home within the last 12 months. [member name removed] was unable to do so, so I explained that she was outside of her warranty but suggested that she call Kitchenaid and explain her situation and see if they would help her out on her repair. Kitchenaid was kind enough to extend a part concession for functional parts associated with the repair. I would like to note that [member name removed] knobs on her cooktop were not melted and there were never any flames associated with the repair. Knobs are considered a cosmetic part and were not covered under Kitchenaid's part concession. I spoke with [member name removed] after getting the part concession and explained that after Kitchenaid paying for the parts her repair would cost $175.00. $76.00 for trip and diagnostic and $99.00 for the labor. She agreed with the cost and we moved forward with ordering the parts. On 6/27/12, Convenient Appliance Service received all parts needed for the repair and contacted [member name removed] to reschedule the cooktop for service. Reschedule date was set for 6/29/12 between 1-3. Brandon Gill arrived at 1:06pm to repair unit. After repairing and testing the unit [member name removed] refused to pay us for the service call. She first tried to claim that she was under warranty again for the repair. Brandon again explained that she was not under warranty unless she could come up with a closing document for her home showing that she had purchased the home within 12 months. At that point she provided a closing document that showed she purchased her home in 2009. We explained again that she was out of warranty. She still refused to pay for service and said that she didn't live in the house for the first 3 years and just had moved in recently. At that point my technician left the house and turned the call over to me. When I contacted [member name removed] she was very rude and very difficult to deal with. At that point she said she would not pay until she received new knobs for her cooktop. I explained again that the knobs were not considered a functional part and that Kitchenaid would not pay for. Admittedly, at this point I had lost patience with [member name removed]. I told [member name removed] that CAS would provide her with new knobs but she must pay for the service immediately. She still refused to pay. At that point I told [member name removed] that I would put a lien on her home if she would not pay. This might seem somewhat drastic but I found [member name removed] inability to comprehend or outright refusal to pay somewhat drastic in it's own right. [member name removed] finally complied and paid for the service that she approved in the beginning. At that point I complied with getting her the knobs that she bartered for. Now, as to the personal attacks against me, our business and the "cronies" that I have working for me. At no point, ever, do I take anything personal associated with our business. 99.999% of the time, the customer is always right. .001% of the time, you find customers are out to get something for nothing. [member name removed] would find herself in that small percentage. All of our technicians are trained and certified and go through extensive hours to qualify to work for our company. Convenient Appliance Service is a "Right Tech" servicer which is the highest standard to meet in this industry. CAS is also nationally recognized as being one of the best customer service companies in the nation. As to dropping off [member name removed] knobs. I sent the knobs with the technician as I recall. I never spoke to a [member name removed]. I certainly could care less as to what size her husband is or how he looks? I never felt threatened by [member name removed] or anyone else but after reading this maybe I should have. FAST FORWARD: 10 months later [member name removed] calls out of the blue. She asked to speak to the owner. I asked what I could help her with. She continued to ask for the owner at which time I told her I would give her that info once she told me who she was and what the problem is. She did and I gladly gave her the info she needed. Wished her good luck and told her to have a nice day. [member name removed] contacted the owner and seemed to give only details that made her a victim of sorts. She left out the fact that the repair that was provided back in June 2012 was of no consequence to what she was dealing with in April 2013. We never serviced the valves on her cooktop in 2012. The repair provided in 2012 was actually a consequence of getting cleaner or water in an area that shorted out electronic switches. The bottom line is that dealing with [member name removed] provided some challenges. Because of the refusal to pay we instructed her in June 2012 that Convenient Appliance Service would not service her again.

Ryan and the other employees of Convenience were wonderful. After diagnosing the problem, they made several trips to my home attempting to repair my range, but without success. I fully expected to be charged for the service calls but they told me that since they were unable to repair the range that there would be no charge. They were professional and extremely knowledgeable re high-end appliances. I would definiy recommend Convenience Applianc

Touch pad on JennAir Wall electric overn stopped activating oven selecitons. Could not turn oven on. Called JennAir who recommended Convenient Appliance Service in Raleigh. Appointment promptly set by JennAir with Convenient Appliance for few days later. Technician Bradnon Gill was most knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. Brandon determined that oven relay panel had become defective. He also determined that oven clock and touch pad were damaged by defective relay penel. Brandon had to solve a number of complicated electrical problems. We was patient and had the expertise to be successful in fully restoring use of our oven (12 years old) for us. During the repair process he fully explained what was needed, disclosing costs and prompt in obtaining the needed replacement parts. We were very pleased with the service and highly recommend it.

The guys at Convenient Appliance are wonderful, Ryan in particular. Our refrigerator was not cooling properly so we contacted our landlord. She contacted Ryan at Convenient Appliance. Since the repair would be done at our rental property Ryan contacted me immediately to set up an appointment for as soon as possible. When I told him that our refrigerator was only just over a year old he recommended that we contact the manufacturer to see if they would cover part of the cost of repairs or parts for us. When we had a bit of a problem with the manufacturer, Ryan contacted them on our behalf to straighten out the issue. The gentleman who actually repaired our refrigerator was able to arrive early (he did call to make sure that was okay). His repair went fairly quickly, and he took the time to explain exactly what the problem was. I'm definitely happy with the service provided by this company, and would recommend them to anyone!

Shortly before Christmas this year, my new dishwasher stopped running. Panic and hand dishwashing ensued! I called Ryan at Convenient Appliance Repair and explained my situation - hosting a Christmas party with no working dishwasher 3 days before Christmas! He answered my call, worked us into their already full schedule and ordered a new control panel which he was able to get in a couple of days. The technician was highly professional, prompt, and took extra care not to mar the floors- And - came over at 7 am the day of the party to install and make sure we had a working dishwasher. Follow up calls to make sure everything was ok. No cost, everything was under warrenty! Perfect! Convenient Appliance Repair saved me lots of dishwashing and stress this Christmas. I can not say enough good things but they are tops on my list and so glad to have them in our community. I will use them whenever I need appliance repair and highly recommend this company. Professional, prompt responses, careful service and solutions!

Company came and replaced the defective place. However, afterward the dishwasher made a grinding noise and the tech was called back. He said he was already at his next job and couldn't come back. I had to make an appointment via the main office and scheduled them to come back. They came back and attempted to fix the grinding noise and claimed it was our fault and not the tech's fault. They then charged us $87.00 for their service when it was not authorized. The company at no time informed us that they may charge us if it was not the tech's work that caused the problem. The customer called the manager and the owner and both were unresponsive. In addition, the owner was not honest in his response suggesting that I was "not making a smart choice." The owner refused to refund my money even though he said he "understood my point of view." Bottom Line: The customer service is terrible. The owner was not willing to help me resolve this problem and in the process made rude comments such as "what do you want me to do, bring my tech back, put the broken parts back in, and give you a broken dishwasher? Would that make you happy?".

Our company was contacted by Maytag to preform a rework on the member's dishwasher. On 5/21/11 the technician went out and installed the new part in the dishwasher. This part is a heating element, nothing to do with the pump or motor area. The customer did call back at which time I checked with the existing route and time left in the day and advised the customer that we would be glad to come back out but would have to reschedule for a different day. I also advised the customer that if it was something to to with the rework that we would be responsible. On Tuesday, May 24th, we went back out on this unit. The technician went out and did hear the grinding noise that the customer made reference to. Upon further inspection, we found the cause of the noise and we pulled these items out of the unit. A watch battery was found in the sump area of the dishwasher along with a rusty washer and a bread tie. We showed the member the items that come out of the unit and he agreed that it wasn't anything that was involved in the repair listed and was glad to write a check. At no point did we pull any screws out of this dishwasher. The washer that was pulled out of the unit had to of been there longer than 3 days due to the corrosion and rust that had eaten thru the metal. The watch style battery found in the unit, also corroded, had nothing to do with our service to replace the heater. And finally, the large bread tie that was pulled out of the unit again had nothing to do with the repair proformed for the customer. I spoke to the member on 5/25/11. She suggested that if what we found in the dishwasher had nothing to do with the initial rework, that we shouldn't have fixed the unit. I explained that in this type of complaint that pulling the trash out of the sump area was the diagnosis as well as the repair. I explained that I couldn't throw the items back in the unit. To resolve this matter we did give the member back her $87.00. But I do stand behind the fact that this was customer neglect and not quality of service or lack there of.
