I had been hearing a whining noise in our refrigerator. I called to have the coils cleaned and spoke with Mr. Talley Thursday morning. He responded that he could come out later that afternoon and clean the coils, and added that if he had time, he would also clean our dryer vent in the same hour of work I would be paying for. Once he arrived, he diagnosed a larger problem with our freezer that was causing the whining noise. A thermostat had gone bad. He cleaned the refrigerator coils, removed all the food from the freezer, and replaced the thermostat with one he had on his truck. He put everything back in the freezer when finished and cleaned up. The fridge runs great now and no noise. Although he did not have time to clean the dryer vent, he did show me how I could do it myself, or he would come back and do it at a later time. He was held up one hour from our appointment from a job he was on before ours, so that was the reason he was not punctual, but overall I am extremely happy with the service provided and the price. I would definitely hire him again.

Never got the chance. See above.
Description of Work: Overextended? I initially chose (left phone message) was a bit slow, but not terrible; we spoke over the phone about possible solutions to my washing machine problems (he was very polite and attentive) and after checking on something we discussed, promised to call me back later........but the call did not come back that day, as I had been led to believe it would. I called and left a message the following day; after several hours, I went to a scheduled appointment, where I can't have my phone with me; upon finishing the appointment, noticed he had called back (no message left) so I called back, explained why I had missed his call, and asked for a call-back. No response. It was time to move on. I can understand that a small vendor may run into scheduling problems; I would have been satisfied if he had informed me that he couldn't accommodate me at the time, but that wasn't what I got as an answer. As a result, I wasted 2-3 days. He may be a great service provider, based on what I read, but I will never know, based on my experience.

We called and he was able to schedule us the next day. Even though he did not arrive at the time originally specified, I graded as an A for punctuality. He called to let us know that the repair he attended before ours took longer than expected so he was running late. He was thorough in checking out the problems and cleaned up totally after work was done.

We used Patrick last year (12.2011) and since we had such a positive experience, I wanted to make sure that we fixed our previous omission and gave him a well-deserved positive review. We had the dreaded Whirlpool F35 error on our front-load washer and after pre-troubleshooting all the known easy/minor fixes, I suspected it was the pressure switch and contacted Patrick. His pricing was very competitive and he was a pleasure to work with. He was very flexible with handling the difficult position of our units and everything has worked perfectly since the work. Given the nature of what he repairs, I hope not to see him again too soon, but he will be the first person we call if anything comes up with our appliances.

Description of Work: Many good prior reviews, so must know their stuff and do it well. They must be very busy, or on vacation, though because I emailed from Angie's list Monday eve, and followed with a phone call the next day; however, I have not heard back and it's Wednesday morning. I need the broken clothes dryer diagnosed as laundry is building at home. Listing says they respond within a day of contact - not correct :( ... don't wait for them to. Sorry, but get an answering service or something or reviews like this will continue. As of yesterday I have scheduled a competitor for today (Capitol) that ansered the phone when I called and got me a lunch-time tech scheduled.

We were very impressed with Patrick. He is experienced, knowledgeable, and very honest. He took the time he needed to diagnose the problem with our washing machine. He will tell you whether it's worth fixing your machine or if you should buy a new one. In our case, he was able to fix our washing machine for a reasonable price. He told us the cost of the parts and had them in his van, so he was able to fix the washing machine right on the spot. He provided excellent service and the machine is working well. We would certainly call him again if we need help with any of our major appliances. He seems to know how to fix all brands and models of all large appliances. He was very responsive to our email inquiry and responded promptly, even though he was on vacation at the time. I think it's worth $59 to have someone knowledgeable, experienced, and honest come out and find out what is wrong with your appliance, instead of just wondering how much it would cost to have it fixed or, alternatively, going out and buying a new one.
Description of Work: Took apart the washing machine and diagnosed the problem causing our washing machine to not spin. Replaced a couple of parts and lubricated the brake system. Made sure the machine was working properly before leaving.

Dryer repair; a part was needed and it was identified immediately. The part was on the truck, so immediately installed. Made sure all was clean around the area, checked lint (all was fine). Then noticed that the plug showed signs of getting too hot; and replaced this for us as well. All worked beautifully and has now for a couple of months. Extremely pleased with the punctuality, the immediate and complete repaid. Work and service was excellent and most definitely will use Talley's again.

The diagnostic went great. Patrick had the entire washing machine dissassembled in under 30 minutes. He was very curtious. He went through all my options for repair and explained what he thought the best option would be. Which in my case was not to repair the unit. He reassebled the unit and suggested which brands of washing machines to buy for the quality.

We had gotten an estimate to fix our washing machine from Sears. It needed a new motor board. Cost $400. I decided to check on Angie's list and compare prices. Patrick from Talley Appliance repaired it for almost half the price! He was so friendly, helpful and efficient! I would highly recommend him!

Patrick Talley, the company owner, was on-time, professional, easy to work with, and got the job done as he described.
Description of Work: The dishwasher in the house I just purchased was not anchored. Patrick expoxy-glued nuts to the bottom of the granite counter top, then used bolts to attach the dishwasher using the mounting brackets that are standard on the Bosch dishwasher. Use of nuts (instead of drilling the granite) eliminated the risk of cracking/chipping the granite. Other contractors who I spoke with did not suggest this solution, so I was pleased to learn of it.

I had two other repair companies come in to look for the cause of a small leak in our washing machine. He took the time to thoroughly look over everything and make an educated guess as to the cause. It turned he was wrong and when I called him to let him know the issue was not repaired, he scheduled a time to come back out and kept with it until we discovered and repaired the problem.

Patrick responded promptly to our call, and came out the next day. At the end of the cycle our washer was leaving clothes sopping wet. After looking at our washer, Patrick said that the good news was that it was an easy and fairly cheap fix. He replaced the belt and lubricated the bearings. He said it was due to transmission bearing locking up from leaky tub seal and right into bearing. While he was here, I also had him examine our dryer which was not performing very well. My husband and I had just cleaned out most of it, but Patrick found a lot of lint in the wall vent which we were unable to reach. He also replaced some minor pieces in the dryer that had been causing it to squeak a little. He was pleasant, and seemed very trustworthy. I was excited to tackle my much piled up laundry as soon as he left. Ran the wash and NO improvement. The only difference is that now on top of the sopping wet clothes, we had a burning oil smell. Patrick came back today at no charge, to see what the problem would be. He diagnosed that it was a and quot;transmissionand quot; problem, or really a clutch issue. I don't have the expertise to know whether he should have been able to tell us this on the first meeting, or not. I just feel frustrated that I paid $169 for a and quot;fixedand quot; washer, that never was fixed, and now we need to replace, unless we decide to give another repair person a chance, and risk throwing more money away. Our washer is only 7 1/2 years old, so I really feel like the problem should be pretty easy to fix. Perhaps this was just a bad first working experience with Talley's appliances, and we were just unlucky with a bad machine, but felt like I should do this review. Update: Patrick contacted me and felt badly about our frustrations. He has integrity in his work, and wanted 100% satisfaction. He refunded 100% of our cost, which I believe is unheard of in today's times. I feel better about the situation and realize that this was an isolated unsuccessful repair, and would recommend Patrick to others' due to his honesty and commitment to his customers.

Please disregard last response from me with this customer. Talked to customer today and I have just decided to refund her the full amount of the total bill even for other services performed in good will. We had a great conversation and I believe everything is resolved. My rebuttal to the report is still my version of what happened I just want my customers happy and satisfied. I always want to maintain my A+ rating here on Angie's list and my integrity means everything to me so I just want all my customers to be happy and willing to refer me to others. Patrick Talley is the best service repair person I have used in years. My dryer was not drying well and was making a rattling sound. I called Patrick, described the problems and he came out the next morning. He spent 1 1/2 hours cleaning and checking the dryer, replacing the vent and belt. All the while, he was friendly, happy and hard-working. He clearly knows his business and provides it with in a professional, compentent way. I immediately felt I could trust his advice and work. Because the machine was 20 years old, I asked about whether I needed a new dryer. He offered to guide me in this decision if further problems occured, referencing aconsumer's guide formula designed to help make this decision. I will definitiely call him again for appliance needs. and I highly recommend him ! Thanks Patrick.

Response from TALLEY'S APPLIANCE REPAIR SERVICE
Let me 1st say I love all my customers and have always maintained an A+ rating for over 2 years on Angie list and just received my 2nd superior service award for maintaining that A+ rating for each year. I want all my customers to be 100% happy with my service but I know you can't please everyone as a lot of us know. I went to do this job and my service call fee is only $59 to come out & diagnose the problem which does not include any repair. The washer would not spin and I found that the drive belt was severely burned up and rubber shavings all over the bottom of the washer. I cleaned all the pulleys and replaced the drive belt. I then filled the tub with water and ran a cycle. The washer worked great and was spinning great. I also lubricated the loud roaring bearing noise on the spin bearing to quiet it. I informed the customer this bearing problem was caused by a leaking tub seal which has dripped onto the bearing which is on the transmission and that it was failing. I also informed her and stated on my invoice that what I did was a temporary fix and would not really solve the issue. The repair would cost as much as a new washer and advised her to be looking to replace it soon. I spent a bit of time as well discussing what appliances were better than others and what I see wrong with some models. I thought I was being helpful. I was called the next day and she said it still wasn't spinning out the clothes. I immediately scheduled into my day to come back that afternoon and look at it again. After looking at the Machine again I found that just the belt was not going to fix it and the transmission clutch was not working when under the weight of clothes. This is very common for a GE washer at 7 years old or older. I see many with this problem but I was just trying to help this customer salvage this washer and buy her some time to look for another machine. Obviously that did not matter to the customer but I have offered to refund the charge of the belt $13.96 plus tax that was changed since it did not help after learning the transmission was bad and the $25 labor charge to work on the washer. As for my service call and diagnosis of $59 the customer understood this is a charge to come out and diagnose and not for any parts or labor. As far as price rating (c) Really! There is no one cheaper than my company in this area so I don't know whats the deal there. I am always professional, kind, and extra friendly with all my customers everyday so the (c) rating on professionalism has me really bothered. All others charges for this customer were for dryer cleaning and repair that I was asked to do by the customer while I was there. I did not have time to work on both appliances before I had to get going to another call but I did anyway. I also did not charge the usual fee of $25 per additional appliance if I work on more than 1 appliance nor did I even tell the customer about it. I was just trying to be nice and not charge them that fee since they were 1st time customers. Again obviously not appreciated! I feel I gave this customer excellent service, friendly advice, and just want them to be happy and maintain my A+ rating for life. I am more than happy to serve them again and have no hard feelings toward them. I am just hurt by the negative review received. For all those reading this a lot of you know me and can speak up for me just look at all my good reports and don't let just 1 person fool you. Thanks to all my loyal customers I really appreciate your business and will continue to serve you with great integrity which is more important to me than anything in life and business which isn't very common in today's world. Again, Thank You!! I have tried to contact this customer but have not heard back from them yet but have offered to refund the cost of labor $25 & $13.96 plus tax for part. All other cost of others repairs are justified. Waiting to hear back from customer and hopefully make them happy. Sincerely, Patrick A. Talley (Owner)

My wife called me at work and said our washing machine wasn't draining water. She had been saying that the clothes weren't getting as dry on the spin cycle for a few weeks now. She initially called Sears and was given a quote of $60 then $120, then $400. There was not any way I was going to pay the kind of money that Sears quoted. I am one to do work myself but decided to use my Angie's List subscription for the first time I searched Angie's list, found and decided to have my wife call Talley's Appliances. She called, left a message and Patrick Talley returned her call promptly and scheduled to come out the next morning. He was on time, performed the repair for a reasonable cost and was very pleasant to my wife. He also took the time to look at our dishwasher that my wife had questions about. I would recommend Talley's Appliances and will use Patrick's services again when needed.
Description of Work: Washing machine pump was clogged. During inspection found oil under the machine and sprayed inside the machine from a leaking transmission. Patrick Talley was great! I called him the night before Thanksgiving, and though he couldn't come out then, he returned my call and asked questions about the problem over the phone. He also got model information so he would make sure to have the parts when he arrived. He came out, as planned, after the holiday, and did a great job diagnosing and fixing the problem. He also recommended some good products and had some good suggestions for preventing future problems. He was extememely nice and friendly, as well as professional. I would definitely recommend him and call him again if another problem arises with any of my large appliances.
