Description of Work: I had estimates from several companies, but wasn't sure they were up to the task. I have been in building and construction of all types for 40 years, I know good contractors and I can tell a not so good contractor. Matthew of MK is an excellent contractor. He restated things about my foundation that I argued with my architect about, he knows how to build quality, which is what I was searching for. Our house foundation is not your ordinary footers and walls, it is complex. There are several elevation changes and steel supported decks of all stamped concrete, not everyone can do a job like this, plus a long driveway with cast iron drainage grates. I had a face to face meeting with Matthew and my initial impressions of his high standards of quality came shining through. Our lot was just cleared today and in a few weeks Matthew will begin his magic building me a high quality foundation that will last several lifetimes. Being in the industry I am building to commercial grade standards and Matthew was the only concrete contractor that made me feel I wouldn't have to worry about the execution or quality.

+ 1 moreMr. Krommel, owner and operator of MK Construction, may be the hardest working man I have ever met. He arrived early with his crew and machinery. He is extremely personable and strives to give you exactly what you want, even if you're not quite sure what it is. He personally designed our stamped and colored, kidney "swimming pool" shaped patio. When the concrete arrived he supervised and worked alongside his crew to pour, spread, stamp, and personally colored the concrete. At one point we had to wait for another cement truck to arrive. He did not take this opportunity to rest, but continued to lay forms and do whatever work he could possibly do, while waiting. He works like a Man on a Mission, who has no time to waste. He is an absolute Perfectionist! My family could not have been happier with the results! That afternoon our neighbor came by and was completely stunned at the color and beauty. She even asked if they were real flagstones! Her father was with her, and he was equally impressed. My neighbor, who was so impressed, screamed, "Daddy, I want one!". After 6 years, not a single crack has appeared at any point in the entirety of the work. It looks just as beautiful, with the rose colored, stamped flagstones, as the day they were poured. I could not give a Higher Recommendation to any contractor I have ever worked with, including our Home builder, with whom we were very pleased. Simply put, I think Matthew Krommel, of MK Construction, is the BEST!
Description of Work: Mr. Krommel, owner and operator of MK Construction, supervised and worked alongside his men, to pour and spread a concrete parking pad of 20'x20'x6". He attached a concrete pad of 12'x15'x6" at a right angle for my workshop shed. He then ran a sidewalk 12'x3'x6", again perpendicular and attached to the parking pad/basketball court to my front porch. The sidewalk was stamped and colored to look like flagstones. He then poured a 70'x3'x6" sidewalk from the rear of the parking pad, in a large curve to the steps of my back deck. The sidewalk continued another 15" to a 18'x10'x6" kidney shaped patio . All of this work was done as stamped and colored concrete, except for the concrete parking pad and workshop pad.
