We found water damage last October under our kitchen floor from a broken icemaker water line, We had a difficult time finding a contractor because everyone was in southeastern NC fixing flood damage from Hurricane Florence. Finally got Emerg-NC to come over and hired them to help us get the damage repaired. Josh and Fred were excellent in the assistance they provided us. Josh was our primary contact throughout the process, and he was always prompt in calling us back when we had questions. After a few weeks, the damage was repaired and we are back to normal. They were excellent, and I would definitely hire them again if the need arises.

It started well when an experienced and professional team arrived and, sensing our state of mind (panic), began with the reassurance that "we're here now and everything will be OK". And it was. They worked hard, fast, and efficiently and prevented the damage from being worse than it had become before they got there. Throughout the process they were focused on us and our needs. Interestingly, the Insurance Adjuster elected to use the data from the Emerg+NC Project Estimator rather than take the time to investigate and evaluate the situation himself. I thought this showed the Insurance Adjuster had a high level of confidence in Emerg+NC's competency and integrity. Everything went well with the repair work - wallboard, baseboard, painting, tile flooring, carpet reinstall and new insulation in the crawl space. Emerg+NC filled the role of General Contractor and used sub-contractors for most of the work. We were very impressed with the individual who did the wallboard and painting work so ended up hiring him for two other big jobs we had need for (not related to the water damage). Both had A+ results. Then, on the theory that Emerg+NC is very selective on which sub-contractors they use, we asked for their recommendation on someone for a bathroom remodeling (again, nothing to do with the water damage). They referred us to Razon Contracting and we have started the project with them. It is going very well and we are quire excited with the design and plans.
Description of Work: Responded quickly to water flow leak, opened walls and ceiling as necessary, lifted carpet, removed wet pad, removed tile bathroom floor that had been ruined, suctioned carpet, closed off areas affected (so they could be heated), put in service fans and dehumidifiers, documented all the damage, worked with insurance adjuster and either performed restoration or subcontracted. Also, prepared detailed reports for insurance in format approved by insurance company and billed industry standard prices that were accepted by the insurance company with no revisions.

I had several recommendations on how to proceed from various contractors. Suggestions ranged from cheap repair with good chance of recurrence to full-scale demolition and replacement. Emerg-NC talked me through the various pros and cons of each possibility with a focus on eliminating the chances of a recurrence (leaky seal on improperly installed toilet). They proposed a fix to the design flaw and took a risk mitigation approach to fixing my issue. This simplified the decision process. Did I mention that their cost estimate was very competitive? Their estimate was spot-on, no surprises at the end. I would use again!
Description of Work: 1. Dried out subfloor using dehumidifier with tenting. 2. Treated for mold prevention. 3. Fixed leaking toilet. Solved long-term issue with original construction. 4. Drywall and painting.

I flooded my house while I was pregnant. I left a sink on upstairs for several hours. This caused my entire downstairs to flood. I called several companies to come and help. It was after 5:00pm on a Friday, and Kevin was the first one to call back. One guy called back a few hours later, by that time Kevin's crew was already there cleaning up. The stayed several hours on a Friday night to make sure everything was good. When it cam time to rebuild everything, they took care of everything. They dealt with my insurance company to make sure everything they could get covered was covered. Their workers showed up on time everyday and were very professional. After a little over a month, my house was put back together even better than it was before. I would definitely recommend Kevin and his team to everyone. They are very responsive. Kevin answered my call every time I rang. Thank you guys.

Our office had a leak from a washer go onto the hardwood floors, They were able to get the insurance company to cover all of the costs associated with the damage. It took a little bit of back and forth between the insurance company and Emerg-NC, in order to make sure I did not incur the costs. The staff had everything worked out, and I did not have to worry about anything. They worked around our office hours, worked on the weekend, and did a great job cleaning up. The office looks great, and I am very pleased with the open line of communication.
Description of Work: They responded within an hour to my office and had their equipment set up immediately.

Hiring EMERG NC was an expensive mistake. We had water damage from an overflowing washing machine, and the mitigation process was prompt. However, the restoration process was a nightmare almost from the beginning. We were actually told at least twice that our job (over $30,000) was "small" and "nothing" and they had bigger, more expensive projects to focus on. During our initial consult, the contractor did not write anything down, which began repeated miscommunication and unsatisfactory work - for example, we asked for our flood-damaged floor cabinets to be rebuilt 1.5 inches taller, but the contractor ?forgot? and had to add height post-installation, which is obvious and looks awful. The cabinets will need to be replaced yet again. From the very beginning, we asked for tile under the dishwasher, but they also forgot to add that into their calculations and tried to talk us into vinyl to make their job less complicated. We asked for a wood or marble floor transition, and they tried to install aluminum. And so on. There were multiple times we would schedule a meeting with the contractor or subcontractor at our home and they would not show, or came hours late with no notice until we contacted them. The contractor incorrectly measured both the carpet and countertop space, causing delays and a countertopthat is already separating from the wall. The latter will need to be replaced before we can think about putting our house on the market in the future. Additionally, the tile floor they installed in the bathroom started cracking down the center of the floor within a month of installation. A contractor we hired after EMERG+NC stated they did not consider the extra weight on the foundation, which is a problem that could have been prevented by a more experienced professional. Their workers also neglected to put down floor protection on our hardwoods, only adding it when we pointed out gauges from their equipment. EMERG+NC originally quoted us 3-5 weeks to completion, but it instead took them over 3 months and the job still is not done, as they abandoned the project after a series of problems that were a direct result of their incorrect measuring and poor communication. We are paying other professionals significant amounts of money to repair and complete what they were either unable or unwilling to do, yet we were charged the full amount for EMERG+NC?s inadequate services. The contractors we have recently met with for repairs have even remarked about the poor workmanship. An insurance adjuster who visited our home stated they had also heard negative comments from customers and would not recommend EMERG+NC. We asked for a meeting with the president and our contractor to address our concerns early in the process. The president told us EMERG+NC was a ?young company? that was ?still learning?. We received empty assurances and ultimately nothing changed as a result of our conversation. We sincerely invited him to our home to verify our claims, but we were met with condescension and an unprofessional attitude. The bottom line is EMERG+NC took advantage of us and our insurance company during a difficult time. Their communication and workmanship were subpar, especially considering their high prices for services. Their focus seems to be on profit over quality and customer service, and we want to share our experience wherever we can to prevent others from losing hard-earned money with this company.

Response from EMERG+NC Property Rescuers
This review has taken us completely by surprise coming now 5 months after the work was completed & 3.5 months since the customer agreed to pay our documented credit adjusted & mutually negotiated bill in full. We have not had any direct communications with the customer since the completion of the projects on 4/16/15 when we requested that they provide us a list of items they wished to have credited, & then we responded in turn with a long written list of itemized credits for things we agreed they were owed totaling: $2,566.62 on 6/2/15. On 6/3/15 the customer agreed to pay their then credit adjusted balance in full. During the preceding 1.5 months when we first submitted our bills, & they submitted their responses, the customer had ample time to communicate with us further as needed to allow us to further address their concerns. The fact is, that they agreed to pay our credit-adjusted bill during that 1.5 months period. Regardless, we are now reaching out to this customer & are completely willing to open up the subject & appropriately review any matters that have surfaced or even previously considered matters in a fair & equitable business-like manner. They will be receiving a written communication from us soon. Summary: we were authorized in writing by the customer on 1/ 17/15. The customer’s projects were neither small nor simple nor did the tasks fall under the category of get it done inexpensively by a friend in nature. The services we provided were actually 5 projects, 3 of which were covered by standard insurance reimbursements to include: 1 insurance covered water damage mitigation project. 1 uncovered water damage mitigation project. 1 insurance covered asbestos abatement project. 1 insurance covered dwelling restoration project. One kitchen upgrade project that was done in association with the other projects. We found them to be very challenging customers to communicate with, as they did not communicate very well with each other related to decisions made while the other party was not present. This daily indecisiveness, resulted in multiple change orders all requiring building material re-orders, cost overruns & complicated managing of subcontractors. Because we work in the insurance claim industry, all of the prices for our service are standardized & nothing we do is speculative or based on non-objective opinions. On April 16, all 5 projects were itemized, accounted for & submitted to the customer for their feedback. Their response yielded a long list of “measurable credits” that were issued to the customer without any argument from us. We even added a general “unspecified credit line item” just in case something was missed. The customer then paid their fully credit-reduced bill one day after our final detailed credit summary report was submitted . We are a regimented business, completely unlike the services typically obtained from non-insurance claim handyman-type businesses. The projects that were covered by an insurance (not their personal funds) were accepted without a single comment or mention of dissatisfaction. The projects that were out of their own personal pocket were picked apart unmercifully, even though the same individuals worked on both the claim covered & non-claim covered aspects of all 5 projects. This customer had unrealistic expectations & impractical requests; an example of one of their complaints, some saw dust fell onto a stack of firewood on their back porch & they stated it could not be burnt in that condition. We offered to remove the dust with high pressure air. They wanted us to pay them for their loss of use? We did our very best to communicate on multiple occasions & we even met with the husband & wife at our office. This 2 hours Q&A meeting was both 2-sided & cordial with them appearing to be smiling & visibly satisfied as they left our office. This customer has provided many 1-sided, incorrect & mistaken assertions in this blind-sided review/complaint. Mitigation & repairs of a single project “standard/average insurance claim” by nature are not quick turn-around projects because of the auditing of details & costs needed when third party insurance companies are paying the bills. We are happy to clarify anything requested of us from any representing party in writing for the sake of avoiding future erroneous interpretations of the actual facts related to any of the projects & services we provided both fairly & reasonably under the conditions we were hired to work under.

the team was very professional and thorough. They came back to the house probably 4 or 5 times to check on the moisture levels and ensure that everything was dried out properly. They also emailed photos of the source of the water leak to my home builder so that the original leak could be rectified. They were very responsive and explained everything in detail and answered questions. They also checked for moisture in the floor above and below the water damaged area. I cannot comment on their pricing as my home builder paid the cost for this service directly to this provider.

The Emerg+NC Team was absolutely phenomenal. Their attention to detail, courteous manner and expertise made my entire experience much more manageable. They went above and beyond during every facet of the job. My main point of contact, Steve, made himself available at all times and took the time necessary to listen to our concerns so that he could provide a few different options that were most suitable for my situation. His guidance/advice was a difference maker when it came to decision making time for me and my family. The owner, Mr. Kevin Oakley is one of the most customer centric business men I have met. His entire approach is about doing what's best for his customer. I highly recommend Emerg+NC Property Rescuers!!!

Emerg+NC Property Rescuers were a dream to work with. The customer service and quality of work is phenomenal. They made a potentially catastrophic and very stressful situation manageable. They helped us from start to finish. The team was quick to respond: WITH IN HOURS they were at my home cleaning up the mess from a broken pipe. With two small children, they took my concerns to heart and made the area safe, and above all, clean for my family to live in. Although I hope I do not need it, I have Emerg+NC's number handy just in case! I have even shared their number with a neighbor recently when he had some water damage to his home. I was very pleased with the quick response, quality of work and customer service Emerg+NC provided to my family.
