This will be long but I think if you are seriously wanting to use this team you should know what happened to me. I had scheduled Chasen Concrete to install concrete decking around my new pool. The initial interaction with sales person Baird was great! The came highly recommended so I was excited. The first day the project was to start there were issues. There was a problem with the estimate and the amount of dirt that was needed for the grading. The site manager asked where in the yard he could take dirt from. I explained that if I had know I would have had dirt ready for them from the pool build and that we did not have any dirt available in the yard. I asked for options which he hesitantly provided. I asked how much dirt was needed and if they could start with the framework and if it was not much they could pull it from a certain area. That area was by the septic system. The site manager came back and said he would not use the Bobcat to get dirt from there. I asked what other way could we get the dirt then. Depending on how much you need, can if be done manually? The site manager replied "That is what the machine is for" so I asked again, then what are our options. To which he replied "Are you going to help us?" This was when the tides turned. Of course I was defensive over this because it is their job and this was not an inexpensive project. I stated with a smile, hoping that he was joking "I'm not sure that's something I'll be doing". Maybe I should just talk to Corey, the company owner. The site manager replied fine I'll just back up and leave. This is when I realized it was bigger issue. I replied to him that is fine I need to get things figured out so they could pack up and leave. The site manager calls Corey with no answer and then calls Corey's partner in the company, John. The site manager speaks to him on speaker phone, telling him that I was being unreasonable, that I did not want them to dig, and was preventing them from continuing. Kept quiet as I figured my turn was coming to speak my piece and then on the phone John says yeah you do not need to deal with that "**** ****", to which the site manager replied, yeah it's Friday and this is "**** ****". John ends of calling me. Admittedly I'm pretty upset. I let him know that he was on speaker phone and heard his complete lack of unprofessionalism. I start walking him through my side of the story. When I told him I was not expecting them to need more dirt, John asked me "What did I expect?" I replied back that I did not think you would need more dirt because it was not mentioned. To which he replied it's "common sense". I argued back that this was their profession and not mine that in order for me to make a good decision I need information and continued with my story. I got to the part where the site manager asked if I was going to be out there helping them dig. John at this point admitted that it "sounded like" the site manager was "lippy". I corrected him, admittedly still pretty mad, telling him this was "*******" unprofessional. John pointed out that I was cussing at him and that I was just escalating the issue. I agreed and simply asked Okay, what are you going to do to fix this then" He asked me how much dirt was needed, I replied it did not look like much to me but the site manager said about four bobcat scoops worth. John said to me well the site manager is the expert so he probably knows and that he would call me back shortly. He called back the site manager and then called me back after. Reported that the team was going to go and start the framework while the site manager went and grabbed gravel since we did not want to dig. Which is fine. I asked can we discuss the cost of the gravel. John's reply was that it would be "minimal", and "will not be that much". I said that did not sit will with and needed an accurate estimate of how much it will cost. John sighed at this point and said "Jesus". Again I'm confused. Why is asking the price a problem. John stated that since I'm spending so much money on a pool an extra couple hundred bucks wouldn't be a problem and that I am just be argumentative. I explained I just want to know what I am paying for and that perhaps our discussion was over and I needed to talk to Corey. John promptly hung up with out saying anything. Corey called. I first started the conversation explaining that it's all in the past and perhaps it was just a bad day, that my goal is to find a way to make this work. I explained the situation for him. He insinuated that this was the first time he has ever dealt with an issue like this. That tone made a mountain out of a molehill. I agreed and also pointed out I had nothing to gain from this. I had everything to lose by cancelling this. I was not looking for a handout. I was not looking for free anything. Having a yard of clay around our pool is very frustrating and I wanted this done. He said he needed to call me later after researching the scheduling piece of this. He called me back and told me that I was not a good fit for them and they were turning down my customer request. After more discussions it was pointed out to me that concrete business is booming so they really don't care about the customer. Just getting the job done so they can move to the next person.

Chasen Concrete was recommended by my pool contractor. We met with Cory Bowen to map out ideas and discuss color. We walked around the pool area and he painted what would be the perimeter of the pool deck. Cory was great about answering our questions (and my husband always has A LOT of questions). He told us we'd get a formal quote later that evening with the options for colored concrete and stamping line itemed. I received the quote that evening as promised and was shocked at how low it was. Given the price, we decided to add some additional concrete to the deck, beyond our initial plans. I emailed Cory and let him know that we wanted to add on, and we set up a time for him to come back and redraw the outlines. Cory's crew was at my house a few days later to begin the forming based on our initial plans. I was concerned because we'd talked about adding more concrete and I hated to cause his crew to do more work than they needed to, but Cory assured me that adjusting the forms wasn't a big deal. Cory came out on the 4th of July to redraw the perimeter of the pool deck and rework the quote. We agreed on a color for both the pool deck and the coping. We decided to save some money by going with a broomed finish on the larger sections of the pool deck and save the stamping for the coping. He adjusted the quote while at my house and I gave him my deposit. After the 4th, we had a tremendous amount of rain which delayed the project. Since Cory can't control the weather, I can't blame the delays on him. He was in touch frequently and came out during a few breaks in the rain to check on the status of the ground. I know he was a bit frustrated with the weather, and I was antsy to have concrete, but I definitely deferred to his expertise knowing that if he felt the ground was dry enough and there was a long enough window of dry weather to pour, he'd pour. When the rainy spell finally ended, after about a week and a half, his crews returned to adjust the forms. They were all set to pour on Wednesday, July 17. I was a pain of a customer because I had them adjust one more section of the form. That morning, Cory mentioned that he had a design idea. Our tanning ledge is an elevated section above the main pool with a step up. There's not a tremendous amount of concrete around the edges of the ledge, so he suggested that we stamp the entire area around the tanning ledge, and felt that it would look amazing. He did that for us without increasing the quote, and he was right. It really does look incredible. I couldn't be more thrilled with the work that Cory and his crew did. Cory was constantly in touch, quick to return calls, pleasant to deal with even with all the adjustments I wanted, and showed a genuine desire to make my project beautiful. I'm going to have him come back out later this year and add an extension to my driveway!

Description of Work: We contracted with Chasen concrete to do a stamped pool deck around our newly installed 36x41 pool with an adjacent patio. The pool perimeter was done in a tinted, stamped & scored type finish and did come out wonderfully. We were very pleased with this portion of the job. The adjacent patio was another matter altogether. We intended this area to be done in a broom finish, in a color complementary to the brownish/red tinted pool deck. We did this to better differentiate between the pool deck/lounger area and the patio area. We did pay the extra costs to have this concrete tinted. Our only stipulation with this area was to have it any color but gray, as we didn't want it to look like a big gray concrete driveway. Guess what color we got? If you guesed grey, your right! We're not fussy people, and when Cory explained to us about 'the natural variations in color & no absolutes' I knew exactly what he was talking about, as this wasn't my first home project. We even went darker on the tint than we had wanted, thinking it would likely dry lighter. We would have been happy with any variation of brown / red / tan....but we got the grey. When we contacted Cory about this (as he wasn't on site too much) he initally denied it, but after 'negotiating' he agreed that it was indeed grey. It was hard to deny, as there is a grey plastic electrical conduit box coming out of the pool deck (for future outdoor bar) and the grey conduit box was an exact match! However, Cory did do the right thing in the end by adjusting the bill down for a fair, agreed upon amount. This will about cover the cost of having resurfacing done in the spring. He was also responsive to my phone calls and usually returned them in a reasonable amount of time. Another gripe I had in working with him was that he was seldom on site. His lead crewman had a pretty good understanding of english, but there remained a substancial language barrier. I thought that this was a large enough project that he should have been present with his crew for at least most of the day to ensure things went smoothly.

We contracted Chasen Concrete out to work at our home on a project where we discussed ALL elements of the job, all the details and of course the pricing. The job was due to start at a certain time but 14 days later (and NO reason was ever given for the tardiness) Corey Bowen arrived with his crew to start work at our home, we rarely saw Mr. Bowen after this meeting except when we demanded his presences. This job (which took almost 2 months to complete due to poor work & in ability to reach Mr Bowen when errors in his teams work occured) was mistake after mistake after mistake by the Chasen Concrete team with no one able to make it right. In discussing this with our family, we all agreed to give Mr Bowen & Chasen Concrete their FINAL payment and try and find someone in the CONCRETE business that were able to guarantee their work & deliver the finished product we expected. We have since found MANY errors & MISTAKES by Mr. Bowen's team at Chasen Concrete and have since had to hire another concrete company to correct these mistakes made by Chasen Concrete.
Description of Work: We contracted Mr Bowen & Chasen Concrete to remove, pour, stain and decorate concrete at our home on a project we were working on. We met several times and each party agreed on the job descriptions & cost of project and a down payment was made before the project could start.
