+ -1 moreThe entire process (initial meeting, measuring, installation) went well. They showed us a good variety of window blinds/coverings. The installer was very good - working very quickly. The only snags that happened were that one window was missed. It wasn't included on the proposal/quote and we didn't catch it ahead of time. The installer had an old one that we used until the new one came in. And one blind was manufactured with the pull on the wrong side. It had to be reordered. They also provided all the necessary info so we could get rebates on some of the blinds.

+ -1 moreWe have three large windows that are very high and cannot be reached without a ladder. The sun comes in those windows at different times of the day, depending on the season, and beats down on anything in its path. In addition to the heat that is created, anything in its path is ripe for fading. Jamie, from Blinds and Designs came out and measured for remote control blinds that we can lower just when needed, allowing the natural light to come in the rest of the day. She provided plenty of options and the prices were reasonable. From her visit to our home to measure and give us our options, we had the blinds installed and ready to go a week later! We are new to the area and contacted a friend who is in the business in the town we moved from, an hour and a half away. He not only said it was a fair price, he spoke very highly of the owners and staff at Blinds and Designs, saying they were honest, used the best materials and would do a good job. Everyone we dealt with at Blinds and Designs was pleasant, professional and attentive to our needs. I would definitely use them again!

+ -1 moreI serched for other Hunter Douglas representative and found one in Hendersonville, Carolina Blinds Outlet. They came immediately and did an excellent job . He showed up on the agreed time to take measuments and sent the quote the next day. I placed the order. Curtains were installed with outmost care and precision. I cannot say enough good things about Carolina Blinds Outlet. They were terrific. Blinds and Design, watch out!
Description of Work: Visited the showroom twice and they were attentive. The second time, I scheduled an appointment for measurements and they did not show up. When I called, they said I had the wrong date, no apologies. I had been very specific with date and time since I was traveling out of town the day after the scheduled appointment. Upon my return to Asheville, I tried again to schedule another appointment but this time they could not come since "they would be away in a Hunter Dougla meeting".

A very professional young man came out to install the blinds and he did so quite quickly. He then took the time to show me how to use and maintain the blinds. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. I have recommended them to neighbors who also used them and had a similar experience. I would use them again.

She has a great eye for fabric choices to coordiante with our interior and spent time helping us pick the perfect fabric and style for our rooms. I could not be happier. The window coverings are beautiful and finish off our rooms perfectly. I would highly recomend Blinds and Us.
Description of Work: Karen came to our home to take measurements and discuss options for window coverings in the great room and master bedroom. She returned with suggestions for fabric options that would coordiante with our furnishings and wall color. Once the selections were made the order was placed. After approximately 6 weeks she returned with Carl to install window coverings.

+ -1 moreWent to the storefront and told them that we wanted to order mini-blinds. The clerk did a rough estimate of about $600 for what we wanted installed then set up an appointment for a measurement. The owner came out and persuaded us to go with faux wood blinds as they are more up to date and would be about the same price as the mini-blinds. She then sent us a quote for about $1,260 that was presented as a discounted price. When we questioned how that equated to the mini-blind price, she came back with a budget product that does not allow the configuration we wanted nor the lifetime warranty. That prompted us to go to the internet for product/pricing. We found many brands that offered exactly what we wanted at a fraction of the cost: $480 versus the $1,261 Hunter Douglas price. So unless you are completely sold on the Hunter Douglas brand, we suggest searching elsewhere for an equivalent product.

+ -1 moreWe finally made the decision to replace the blinds in our 1920s era home. We shopped around...Lowe, Home Depot, several window treatment stores and even on line. We found the best quality product at a fair price and a good "comfort level" with Jamie at Blinds and Us. Jamie was very helpful in selecting a style that fit our particular home with the options we wanted. We ended up with Hunter Douglas Top down/ bottom up cellular shades that had (for a limited time)a cordless lift system at no extra charge. At installation time, our installer discovered that some of the blinds did not have the top down feature. It was determined that the order went in correctly and a mistake was made at the factory. Hunter Douglas was apologetic and quickly remade the blinds and sent them out. The final installation went perfectly. We would defiantly use Blinds and Us again!

+ -1 moreOverall, we were very pleased with our choices and with Blinds and Us. We will use them again if the need arises, and are glad to recommend them to others. We also liked doing business with a business that is locally owned and operated, but also deals with a nationally known product.
Description of Work: We moved into a newly constructed house at the end of December 2011, and needed coverings for 22 windows. After making a trip to the showroom to look at available products, I made an appointment for them to come to my home, take measurements and provide an estimate. When the representative arrived, she brought samples so we were able to get an idea of how each type of blind would look in our windows. My husband and I make our choices together, and an estimate was provided that night. Unfortunately it was too high, but we made some changes the following day and accepted the second estimate which was within our price range. The order was placed within 3 days of the original visit to our house, and the coverings were ready for installation in just over two weeks. the installers were efficient and skilled. The sales rep was very knowledgeable of our area, having done many homes in Biltmore Lake so she had an excellent idea of what would work and what would not. Because our house is set in the middle of a wooded lot, we wanted coverings that are very unobtrusive across the back so that we can experience the full impact of the woods. We chose pleated shades which become almost invisible in the day when they are raised, but give us privacy in addition to providing good insulation after dark. In addition, some of the shades can be raised from the bottom so that we can have privacy, but still see out over them, particularly important in our bedroom. We did the rest of the house in wooden blinds which are effective in controlling light in the day, and at night, block light from a street light located directly in front of our house. We were interested in buying Hunter Douglas products due to the choices available, the quality of the product, and the guarantee backing them. For that reason, we did not get bids from other companies.

+ -1 moreWe had a really good experience with them. We spoke with them about our options, and eventually decided to purchase 2 inch blinds throughout the house. They did a very good job, and the owner discussed all of the of possible styles and took measurements. They placed the order, and installed them very efficiently when they came in. The owner was very courteous and prompt, and sent us a letter after the job was done to thank us and to make us aware that she offers additional window treatment services as well as blinds, which we appreciated. We did not compare the price (the above price includes tax) but we were more interested in the quality of the service than the cost. They provided wonderful service, we were very happy with her work, and I would certainly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We went to them because we did not have any window coverings in our new home. We had blinds put in 21 windows of varying sizes, including two full length glass doors.

+ -1 moreFantastic. We found Blinds and Us in Angie's List, met a representative at a local home show, visited the showroom, and then had Karen come out for the consultation/quote. Everything was perfectly smooth, no problems with the order or installation at all. Blinds and Us has a good financial program as well that we are taking advantage of.
Description of Work: Selected, measured, ordered and installed Hunter Douglas cellular shades and mini-blinds throughout our new house. Karen was fantastic in suggesting colors and designs and in helping us minimize cost while maximizing value. Some of the shades are Top-Down Bottom-Up (you can drop down the top to see outside while keeping the lower part of the window blocked AND/OR can raise the bottom of the shade independently). Some of the windows were multiple windows and Karen suggested just the right answer for them based on our needs. The installation was PERFECT and very efficient. Their installer is great, knows what he's doing, and just gets it done.
