As far as appearance of the fence, it is minimally acceptable. Within 3 days all of the gates were dragging the ground. The fun then started in earnest. I could get no one to return my call or E-mail addresses. One of the workers came by and told me that he would fix the fence for me but not to tell his boss. I said that was not acceptable. After approximately two weeks of trying to get a response from JR, he sent a young man over to see what needed done. His boss allowed him to use steel frames on the fence gates, but the boss refused to let him do anything more to my fence. I realized that I had been taken. My neighbor urged me to join her in her lawsuit, I feel that this is a waste of time because this company had no intention of making my fence right. I showed him the gate. I had noticed that in the initial construction only 2 2x4s were used as cross pieces. Another fencing company said that there should be 3 2x4s used to mount the slats on. In the meantime, my neighbor has refused to pay the remainder of her fee to the construction company because her gates looked like they had been constructed by someone under the influence of whatever. Her fence was not straight at all. She just got a default judgement.. So for the past several weeks I have be working on my fence by replace nails with non rusting screws and putting in the third 2x4 that the company had not done. Last week I received a letter from the permits office for the City of Fayetteville telling my fence was in violation because no building permit had been obtained. I have ten days to put the fence in compliance or remove it. I met with the city last week and paid for the building permit that Russell Construction told me I did not need. As I looked at the construction of my own fence, I realized that they had simply nailed the fence slats to the cross pieces of the fence. Screws were never used to put up slats but instead they used ungalvinized nails that are rusting and falling out already. This was anything but a professional job. I could probably also get a default judgement in small claims, but filing and serving fees would just be added to the amount that it will cost me me in labor and materials to make the fence more durable . I am sure that the company has no assets to seize.
Description of Work: My next door neighbor had her privacy fence replaced and while the fencing people were there, I asked for a quote replacing my chain link fence and a small section of a wooden privacy fence. The quote initially was about $1700 but it ended up later being just under $2000. Immediately follow the completion of the neighbors' fence, the same crew started to work on my fence. Before the project ever started, I asked JR, the owner of the company, if he would be pulling the city permit for my fence. He told me just like he told my neighbor that a permit was not required since it was replacing an existing fence. I had no reason to not believe him because I am new to the Fayetteville area. The fence was completed in about a week. While the fence was not as straight as I would have liked to be, I could live with it. I needed a 12' gate on one side of the house and a standard walking gate on the other side. I asked that they make sure that the gates would not sag and they assured me that they would use a steel frame for the twelve foot gate halves. I paid them half when the contract was signed and the final payment when the job was completed. That was a huge mistake on my part. The company has several different names: JR Russell, Russell Construction, Mossy Oak Fencing and probably a few others. They apparently do not have contractors license. There is a Russell company in the Fayetteville area with a tremendous website and very positive reviews of their work.

I hired Russells Construction to install laminate flooring and tear out part of the kitchen wall in a newly purchased house. After 3 days of renovations, I conducted a walk through with one of the on-site supervisors only to find numerous issues with the work done. After pointing out the issues to the supervisor he left. I wrote emails to the owner asking him to come visit the home to view the work his employees were doing and how we could renegotiate some of the problems. The owner still has not visited the site although he did send another supervisor to the house to take pictures of everything...after which he left and hasn't been back. So, I have hired an attorney to begin a litigation process against the construction company to recoup the initial balance paid and for them to fix the issues they produced.
Description of Work: Issues:Electrical line was cut to the kitchen and now half the kitchen doesnt have power;Saw marks in the ceiling;Holes punched in the drywall and not patched;Laminate floor was installed with no staggering of the pieces and gaps between numerous boards; No support 2x10 beam was installed in the ceiling where the wall was removed so now the ceiling joists are sagging the kitchen roof; All of the vents on the floor have gaps where the laminate meets; Most of the laminate pieces against the walls have gaps larger than what the trim can conceal; They used some of my furniture to stand on and now there are holes in my furniture; They dumped the pieces from the wall removal against the house outside and now there is brick damage.
