Refusing to fix issues they caused.
Description of Work: THIS IS YOUR WARNING. SUCCESS RATE FOR THIS BUSINESS IS 60%. IF YOU'RE WILLING TO TAKE THAT RISK THEN CALL THEM UP AND TAKE YOUR ROLL AT THE DICE. I had 5 jobs done at my house in March 2014. 1.New back french doors - water comes in the bottom, wood rotting and MOLDING and carpet getting wet and molding. REFUSES TO ACTUALLY REPAIR THE ISSUE THAT THEY CREATED. It was not like this, leaking and rotting before. 2.New entry put in wall - aesthetically displeasing - not getting repaired. Looks horrible and my children trip over it and fall almost daily. 3. New roof on house - Discovered they put shingle paper over a hole with no particle board first. - Came and fixed that. Let's just hope the rest of the roof that I can't see looks ok. 4. All New windows in the home. - No problems thus far. 5. New front glass storm door - No issues Paid them CASH $18,500+ without delay.... Now that I have issues, they're picking and choosing what they're willing to repair. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!! Update on 2/20/16: I just wanted to update everyone ... I posted a review January 7, 2016. The owner of this company sent a professional inspector out to my house, that he paid for. The inspector was John Watkins and his company name is Home Inspector From H***. He checked out the French doors and said that they were installed improperly. That took place about 3 weeks ago. The owner of the company knows this is his fault, still refuses to speak with me on the phone, and is still refusing to help me get this issue fixed. I paid him around $1,000-1,500 for this job and I'm going to have to spend close to that AGAIN to fix this problem. BE WARE!!! This could be you if you roll the dice with this company!

Contacted Home Exteriors in late August or early September 2014. Sales rep very responsive and professional. Job delayed approximately one week due to shipping problem. Workers came in September and installed everything in one day and did a good clean-up job. I was told to expect someone to come the next day to do a walk-through. No one came. I discovered a slight tear in one of the screens so I called the office. Over the next few weeks I talked to the secretary, general manager and the sales representative and got the run around. Only when the president of the company answered the phone was I able to get the screen replaced. In April I cleaned the windows for the first time by pulling them forward. All windows performed well except for one. It appeared to be misaligned. Since the windows were still under warranty I called the company. The president came out and said that the window was not misaligned but that I was not closing it properly. He asked to borrow a screw driver and did something to some of the hardware (pivot pin?). I continued to have problems with this window each time I pulled it forward to clean. The window became disengaged from some of its hardware on June 24. We called the president who said he would come out but never showed. I made a follow-up call and he said his staff was on vacation. I called again on July 22 and was told by the president the he would come in the morning the next day. He never called or showed. I called him this morning (July 24) and he came. He said that the window had been properly installed and that we must have damaged it. I insisted that I had been very careful with all of the windows, had no problems with any of the other windows and that this window appeared to be faulty in some way. He insisted that that could not be and that we must have "abused" it. He said for that reason he could not repair it without charge. The conversation began to escalate into an argument at which point I ended it and he left. I am generally happy with the new windows but I never dreamed that I would have such trouble having a problem resolved from a local, well-establish business. The president behaved as if he did not want to correct the problem. He could be disagreeable and tended to interrupt me when I was trying to explain the problem. It was quite inappropriate of him to tell us we had "abused or "done something" to the window. In the end it was obvious that he would not move on his opinion and we decided to have no more dealings with this company.
Description of Work: Installed 8 Soft-Lite vinyl windows.

The roof is leaking so I called my insurance company, an inspector came out to inspect. The insurance company would not cover roof leaking because of poor workmanship. I called home exterior explaining to them what the insurance company reported so they could see for themselve. They refuse to come out without me paying a service charge. They also said I am responsible for paying for repairs. They told me my warranty has expired. But the inspector found the shingles were cut all away through with a razor blade and some of them were torn

THE ESTIMATE AND CONTRACT SIGNING WAS EASY. THE WORK WAS DELAYED BY A COUPLE WEEKS DUE TO WEATHER, WHICH IS UNDERSTANDABLE, BUT THEN THE PROBLEMS STARTED. I CONTINUALLY HAD TO CALL AND LEAVE VOICE MESSAGES FOR THE GENERAL MANAGER, JIM ZACCONE, BECAUSE A PROJECT MANAGER WAS NEVER ASSIGNED TO HANDLE AND OVERSEE MY CONTRACT. JIM WAS ALWAYS EXTREMELY HARD TO GET IN CONTACT WITH AND PREFERRED TEXTING RATHER THAN CALLING ME BACK. THE ROOFERS LEFT AN ABSOLUTE MESS AT MY HOUSE AT THE COMPLETION OF THE FIRST DAYS' WORK WITH LOOSE NAILS, SHINGLES, TOOLS, AND GARBAGE BEING LEFT ON MY ROOF CAUSING A HAZARD IF A STORM HAD COME IN, GARBAGE AROUND MY YARD, TWO LADDERS LEFT UP AROUND MY HOUSE INCLUDING ONE IN FRONT OF MY GARAGE SO I COULDN'T PULL MY CAR IN. THE ROOFERS CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY AND FAILED TO INSTALL THE RIDGE VENT THAT WAS IN THE CONTRACT AND AGAIN LEFT A MESS WHICH I HAD TO CLEAN UP. THE CONCRETE SUB-CONTRACTOR THEY HIRED WAS ALSO ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. THE FIRST TIME HE CAME OUT HE DIDN'T EXCAVATE FOR THE CONCRETE PAD PROPERLY AND, IN THE PROCESS, CUT TWO 4" DRAIN TILE PIPES RUNNING THROUGH MY YARD WHICH ARE USED TO PROPERLY DRAIN RAIN WATER FROM MY DOWNSPOUTS ON THE UPPER END OF MY YARD. AFTER I IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM WITH THE EXCAVATION IT TOOK 4 DAYS FOR PETE TO COME OUT TO MY HOUSE WITH THE CONCRETE SUB-CONTRACTOR AND GO OVER THE PROBLEMS WITH THE WORK THAT HAD BEEN COMPLETED. ONCE WE HAD STRAIGHTENED OUT THE ISSUES, IT TOOK ANOTHER 12 DAYS FOR THE SUB-CONTRACTOR TO COME BACK OUT AND RE-EXCAVATE ACCORDING TO WHAT WE HAD DISCUSSED. DURING THIS VISIT, THE SUB-CONTRACTOR TOOK THE DRAIN TILE PIPING I HAD BOUGHT TO CONNECT TO ANOTHER DOWNSPOUT AND USED IT TO FIX THE PIPING HE HAD CUT ON HIS PREVIOUS VISIT. WHAT THE SUB-CONTRACTOR FAILED TO DO WAS FULLY CONNECT THE PIPING AT THE SECOND PLACE HE HAD CUT IT SO I STILL HAVE THE DRAIN PIPING STICKING OUT OF MY YARD AND WASHING AWAY THE SAND HE HAD SPREAD AND GRADED. I AGAIN IDENTIFIED PROBLEMS WITH HIS WORK AND HOW HE HAD BUILT THE RETAINING WALL FORM WHICH MADE IT LOOK LIKE IT WASN'T GOING TO BE A SOLID THICKNESS THROUGHOUT THE POOR AS WELL AS NO FOOTERS BEING DUG SINCE THE DECK THAT WAS TO BE BUILT ABOVE THE PAD WAS GOING TO HAVE ITS SUPPORTS PLACED ON THE CONCRETE. I ALSO ASKED WHEN THE BUILDING INSPECTOR WAS GOING TO COME OUT AND INSPECT THE WORK BEFORE THE CONCRETE POOR AND NEITHER JIM NOR PETE HAD AN ANSWER FOR ME. I CALLED THE PINEHURST BUILDING PERMIT OFFICE MYSELF AND LEARNED THEY HAD NOT EVEN SUBMITTED AN APPLICATION FOR A BUILDING PERMIT FOR THE WORK THEY WERE CONTRACTED TO PERFORM. IT TOOK ANOTHER 3 DAYS FOR THEM TO SUBMIT A BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION TO THE VILLAGE BUT BECAUSE THEY HAD NOT FAMILIARIZED THEMSELVES WITH THE PINEHURST REQUIREMENTS, THEY RAN INTO SEVERAL ISSUES. FINALLY JIM CAME BACK TO ME AND OFFERED TO AMEND THE CONTRACT TO ONLY THE ROOF, BASICALLY SAYING THAT THEY GAVE UP ON MY PROJECT AND WEREN'T INTERESTED IN COMPLETING THE WORK ANYMORE. THIS WAS AN ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE BY UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESSMEN WHO HAVE SEEMINGLY NO PRIDE IN THE WORK THEY PERFORM AND PUT VERY MINIMAL EFFORT, IF ANY AT ALL, INTO CORRECTING ANY KIND OF MISTAKES OR ADDRESSING GRIEVANCES THAT A CUSTOMER BRINGS UP. **Update** I went to their offices to sign the amended contract during which time they tried to say I owed them another $2500. I told them I would not sign the amended contract or pay them anymore money until I received an itemized invoice detailing every expense they were billing me for above and beyond my $6,000 money up front. A month after asking for the invoice and not hearing anything, I received a small claims court summons from them. I hired a lawyer and filed a counter-claim for breach of contract since they had not finished all work hired to perform as per the contract. They showed up to court without a lawyer or even a copy of the contract we had signed. Their claim was dismissed because they couldn't prove they had entered into a binding contract with me and the magistrate awarded me $2,500 for the breach of contract counter-suit in December 2013. As of mid-May 2014, they still have not paid the judgement against them. I have had to file a Writ of Execution with the Sheriff's office in order to try to get payment from them and recoup at least a little of the money I've had to spend during this whole ordeal.
Description of Work: **Date of Last Contact is when I submitted for a Writ of Execution through the Cumberland County Sheriff in order to collect the judgement against them by the Moore County Small Claims Court, in December 2013, in which they were ordered to reimburse me $2500** This post is to follow up on my previous post below with the pictures. PROVIDER ONLY FINISHED 1 OF 3 PROJECTS HIRED TO DO ON MY HOME WHICH WAS TO RE-SHINGLE THE ROOF. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO ALSO BUILD TWO DECKS IN MY BACK YARD AND CONVERT MY SCREEN PORCH INTO A CAROLINA ROOM BUT NEVER COMPLETED THE PROJECTS.

On April 17th I called and requested an estimate for vinyl siding. I provided all the information and gave permission to enter my property when I was not there. On April 30th I called back to check on the status and was told someone would get back in touch with me. It's now May 13th and I've received no estimate or phone call from this company. I won't be doing business with them.

I am in the Military and was deployed at the time that I contacted Home Exterior of Fayetteville (HEF) to work at my home. I was concern that my wife was home alone, and I wanted some extra exterior protection work to be completed so that I could have some peace of mind while I was out of the country. My wife signed an agreement with HEF on 30 OCT 2012 after I had explained my concern to them. I felt that they understood my concern and would do a good job. HEF informed me that the work would start the following week in November. Moreover, when asked how long will it take to complete the work, I was ensured that all work would be completed during the first week of November and once the work had started, it would be completed within one day. November rolled around and they showed up, as promised, with contractors to do the work, however; nothing was really complete! They came, looked around my home and ended up leaving because they never brought the right equipment with them. They cancel their appointments that they had scheduled with my wife a total of about four times. My wife is a full-time student, and her time is very valuable. They changed their time-line and promised to have the doors completed before Thanksgiving. That did not happen! The first door was installed after Christmas, and it took until January 2012 to install three security doors and they never replaced my inside door that leads into the garage. This was an embarrassment! I did not want to pay this company, but I did anyway because I was just over the whole d*** thing!
Description of Work: Home Exteriors of Fayetteville, NC was contracted to install three exterior security screen doors on my home as well as replace an inner door including the frame for the door inside of my home that lead into the garage. The three exterior security doors were install as promised and the inside door was not replace at all!

We arrived at the [removed member name] home within two hours of their phone call. They called us because their house had been burglarized. We installed one door on the same day. The front door with two side-lites and two other special order storm doors were not in stock. We had to wait until the special-order doors arrived. Also the door that [removed member name] refers to that leads into his garage was not part of the contract/agreement. Thank you

Had five companies come and provide estimates. Home Exteriors was not the least expensive, however, I was impressed that the actual roofer came out several times to a**** the roof whereas others did a quick look from the ground, or only a salesman came out. They did the work quickly, cleaned up well and everything looked good, however, a month later the roof started leaking around the chimney. They came out and repaired it. It started leaking again a couple of months later. It took 5 or 6 calls to get them to come back out. The repair only lasted a few weeks. I had them come out a third time, again after several calls, and they tried to fix it again and said the problem was with the chimney. I went on the roof myself and stopped the leak with some asphalt caulk and it has held for well over a month (without the chimney being repaired). This week I had the chimney rebuilt. During the rebuild the chimney repair folks told me that some of the flashing was done in a manner that it directed water under the roof shingles - the problem all along. I have another roofer coming this week (once the mortar on the chimney is set) to install proper copper step and soldered counter flashing to ensure this does not happen again. If they would have done the flashing right to begin with, or at least corrected it instead of just trying to patch over it when it leaked, I would have given them an A, but poor flashing makes a leaky roof and a leaky roof means a poor roofing job.

At the time of the roof replacement, was advised that he needed a new chimney, however he did not contract with us to build a new, brick chimney. We will note that he has had another contractor do the work, as we are no longer responsible for work done on the home once another contractor has been involved. This is per our contract. Thank you.

Description of Work: Pete came out and gave us a great deal and estimate. No complaints with the subcontrator with the dilligence and efficiency of placing the siding on our home. However when the construction part came to pass... we removed 2 windows and a single door and replaced with an 8 foot sliding glass door, they came at 6p at night to remove and replace. they didn't have all the materials required and for the job and for several hours there was a huge gaping hole in our living room while they had to go and get the new header. The installation was smooth but very late in the evening. They gave the reason as they were all busy doing a BIG job on Fort Bragg. This was irritating to say the least that we weren't a priority for our "small job" Finishing touches of molding and drywall took several more days and only after several calls did they come back out for the staining of the new molding. Even after this experience we decided to use them again. Several years later we had our windows replaced. This process went much more smoothly. With this improvement we also decided to modify our breakfast nook and shorten the total length of the windows. They completed the job to satisfactory level and were very punctual and professional during this remodel and window replacement. We will be contacting them again shortly to get a bid on a new roof for our primary residence and also a rental property. We will be getting several comparibles for this job, but we will still give them an opportunity to present their services. We have been extremely satisfied with the quality of the siding and windows itself. Please remember if anything goes wrong with the windows they are willing to stand by the warranty but We had to call them and go pick up the window ourselves. They will not come out and fix without an additional fee.
