Special drill bits required to go through ceramic tile in shower to install safety bars properly. The job was well done. And, I think they went through three bits to make sure it was completed properly.
Description of Work: Needed some fixtures installed to assist family member with safety and mobility needs who had recent major surgery, removed and installed a taller toilet in MBR, bed elevated, outside handrails secured (so they would not wobble), safety bars in shower/bath.

Long and short term goals explained to contractor. Written estimates provided for prioritized work that needed to be done immediately. Ideas given to consider for future work and and failing paint job (interior peeling) from paint job done less than a year ago by another company prior to customers moving into home. Repair work took approximately four days. Work was turn key, neat, with clean-up, and old materials hauled off. Workman polite, trustworthy, required little supervision from home owner as they were closely supervised on as needed basis by company owner for starting, stopping, completing and reviewing each task. No profanity or swearing by workers on site. Definitely will use this company and its workers for future work.
Description of Work: 1) Backdoor removed and replaced with recased exterior door. 2) Closet sliding door in 2 bedrooms removed and replaced with hollow panel cased double pull door, painted, trimmed, along with door hardware and molding. 3) Fallen sheetrock in garage removed, repaired, replaced, and painted. 4) Garage exterior wall insulated, sheetrock, the same above garage door. 5) Grab bars installed in guest bath; 5) Ceiling fan with light wired and installed in great room, 6) Outlet for garage door motor

I very much wanted to be able to write a good review but can not. The company gave a great estimate, is rated highly on Angie's List, was very punctual, and seemed very professional. Now that I have finished the job they should have, here are a few of the issues: 1. They popped off aluminum wrap from the old French Door and didn't bother replacing it (we mentioned it during the estimate and were told it wouldn't be an issue re-using it). We have had numerous window and door replacements in the past and the workers have ALWAYS been able to replace the wrap. Not only did they not replace the old wrap, they left the nails that held it on sticking out of the wood and simply painted over them. They also said they would put us in touch with their wrap guy to get it replaced. I only assume they wouldn't pay for it but they never bothered to do it anyway so we'll never know. Bottom line, now we have ONE door that isn't trimmed out like EVERY other door and window on the house. 2. The front porch railings. During the estimate, they indicated they would have to put a half height mid-post in as our porch is wide and they don't make a vinyl railing that would span the distance. No problem...except that when installed, the post was anchored so poorly that it truly created a safety hazard. Our porch is approx. ten feet up at the highest point and the mid joint was so week that a child leaning against it would cause it to fail. I would expect a professional to KNOW this in advance and tell me about it. The issue would have made the house un-insurable. That ANY contractor would find this acceptable is astonishing. The "fix" was to add full posts at an additional cost of $400.00. So, it's kinda' like this: Give estimate, create safety hazard, HOPE homeowner accepts it, if not then CHARGE to fix safety hazard. Unsatisfactory. There are MANY additional issues with the front porch work including poor trim work, poor finishing work, etc. but the safety issue is appalling. I'm not sure at what point they decided to simply "cut losses" on my home and just do shoddy work as quickly as possible in order to save a few bucks knowing full well we would NEVER call them again but it appears that is precisely what happened. They did ask us to look at the work and we simply said "fine" just to get them out of here. If they are willing to accept a safety hazard, we are NOT willing to let them continue working on our home. Good luck with this company. I hope you have a better experience should you decide to use them.
Description of Work: Replaced exterior French Door. Repaired some rotted subflooring. Removed wood railing on front porch and replaced with vinyl railing.

The floors turned out nice. There are some places where the tile is uneven. Some just a corner, some are a little raised on more than a corner. They put the backer board on the floor before they put on the tile, but was told that those places that were not even was because the floor was not level. We cleaned the grout haze that was left after installers did a quick job. But all in all very pleased with the outcome.
Description of Work: They removed and disposed of existing laminate flooring and carpeting in liivingroom office, dining room, kitchen and foyer cost $400. Purchased and installed 60 sheets of 1/4 inch hardi backer board, cost 2,700. We, the owner, provided 6x24" porceline tile approximately 900 square feet and grout. Labor, thinset and sleuter strip for top stair was $5,400.00. Contractor purchased and installed 300 linear feet of wood colored laminated 1/4 round molding for $1,200 and picked uptile from shipping company and delivered it here for $200. They moved furniture back to existing place once job was completed.

Geo is our go to guy when it comes to ANYTHING in our house. He never disappoints and is a great, honest, and personable professional. We've been using his company for almost 4 years now and never had any issues. This most recent visit he helped me fix some wiring issues I was having while installing a fan. He happened to be a block away from my house when I called for help. He came by right away, addressed my issue and headed right back to his current project. He didn't even charge me because it was a matter of swapping a few wires. That's the kind of honest and amazing service you get when you hire him. Not only did he help me but he taught me basic wiring tips for the future. Don't think twice, hire him and keep him on speed dial for any future projects that may pop up.

This is my third review for Gand C, so it goes without saying they hit it out of the park on yet another project for me. I called Geo to come take a look at the ductwork under my house because we had a major break that was essentially dumping all the air conditioned air into the crawlspace. He came by that day and took a look. Now I know he came after he was finishing up on another project that day, and if it were me Im sure I would probably want to just go home and relax. Not Geo, he comes no matter what because he would want the same service for his family if he were in my shoes. Like I was saying, he came that day and took a look at the problem. He did a temporary fix and sent me a quote to replace all the ductwork (30+ years old and damaged) and for a few miscellaneous projects I had (leaking faucets, broken disposal etc...). Geo scheduled a time to complete all the work in one day that fit perfectly into my families schedule and he finished before we even got home. The new ductwork is installed properly and it even cleared up a ton of space under my house with how he installed it. We can actually walk under the house now without climbing all over old broken ductwork! If you read my other reviews you know that we trust Gand C so much that he has his own key to our house and his own security code. If you need a personal reference or would like to speak to me directly in more detail please send Gand C a email and they can give you my contact info. Not sure if you can mail me on here, but if so you can do that any time. Go with these guys, hands down the best in the Fayetteville area.

Thank you again [member name removed] for taking the time to review our company, it's always a pleasure to be of service to you and your family. You hit the nail straight on the head, it is exactly what I would expect for my family. I understand what its like to not always be there when the military tells you to go and be there to take care of the things that need to be done. After my wife had been taken for a ride or two in the pastby contractors that took advantage of her naivity, we have made it one of our corner stones to always do the right thing, no matter what, by our customers. We feel that God will provide and our customers will call us back if we just continue doing that. God bless you and your lovely wife and baby girl. Geo Livingston

First of all I have to say the the Manager was wonderful. She was attentive and made sure that I was satisfied in the end. She went above and beyond. That being said she was in above her head. The people she contracted were poorly skilled and took advantage of her inexperience. The Plumber installed my pipes kinked in way that would have caused a leak had it not been caught when the Tiler removed the tile he hastly install with lumps and crockedly on top of drywal with insets of tile board instead of using tile board for all the tile. I suspect that the tiler who was a friend of the plumber hoped to cover up the bad plumbing before it could be discovered (which would have resulted in future work for the repair). Once the tiler was forced to removed the tile he stacked it all together with the so that it all stuck together and was very hard for the new tiler to reuse. The manager swift dismissed him and brought in a new tiler who seem to know his business but who had to be dismissed and replaced by a third tiler who also painted. He was good but extremely slow in every thing he did. I believe that had I not been there in the house while the work was being done the 'mistakes' would have cost me thousands of dollars to recover from. There were a lot of little things that irritated but in the end the Manager made sure I was happy with the job. The people who were working with us at the end of the job were very helpful and professional. I would recommend the management of the company but watch the contractors. Soon after my job the company changed their name.

Intro and general impression... Geo and his crew are the best in the business. This is the second time ive had geo do a project for me. The first time he did a complete gut and remodel of my guest bathroom. His prices professionalism timeliness and quality of work cant be beat. Background... after Geo did our bathroom remodel we had him give us quotes for miscellaneous other projects around our house at no cost of course. I had to move out of town for a school I had to attend in another state (military) and i trust Geo so much I gave him a key and our security code to the house in case i needed him to do anything. I'm glad I did because he has been a huge help. The job... I guess during the winter some time our hot water heater decided to kick the bucket. It's under the house so it's exposed to some temperature changes. It ended up failing and when I found out i was able to call Geo to have him check it out. He immediately went to my house to ensure the water was off and told me what was going on. I had him replace my water heater and insulate the plumbing. I was able to do all this via email and texts and didn't have to worry about a thing which was really nice with how stressful my school is. If it wasn't for Geo and his crew i wouldn't know what to do. Recommendation... I recommend G and C to anyone and everyone especially military. If you have any questions or need a personal reference for his business please contact me any time. Thanks again Geo!

Geo has a great personality, honest, and was available the whole time. We had to do some things insurance wise and he guided us through the whole process. He was very helpful in every aspect of the job. He even offered to come in on the weekends to take care of business if needed. Gand C Contracting is a great company and his employees were very knowledgeable, kind and always cleaned up after they were done each day. Geo made sure that my bathroom came out the way I wanted it to. He even added finishing touches not quoted to me in my estimate to make everything come together (light switches and outlets etc..). His crew is very trustworthy and I had no problem giving them a key and code to my alarm. My price may seem high, but we did an entirely tiled in shower and had tile run up to a chair rail. The price is dependent on your choices in materiel. Geo is very reasonable on his labor rate and will work with any budget. We plan on having him do work for us while we are out of town for a few months. I can see a long relationship with my family and his company and plan to use him for any of my home improvement needs and construction jobs around the house. Im not sure what the deal was with the lady that gave a bad review for them on here, but I think she must be an unreasonable customer or had unrealistic expectations. Disregard her review and go with these guys, dont let one bad apple spoil the bunch.

It was an absolute pleasure working with the [member's name removed]. It always surprising when a potential customer tells me that the other contractors they have contacted either don't show up or don't follow through after the initial estimate is given. We pride ourselves at being one of the best if not the best Home Improvement contractors in the Fayetteville area, starting from the initial contact (typically my wife answering the call for a request for a estimate) to the end when I walk the customer through their project. We try to develope long term relatioships with our customers by being fair, respectful, trustworthy, and professional, we want to be your contractor for life. I feel like we accomplished that goal wth [removed member's name] and look forward to a long term relationship and friendship. Thank you for your warm comments, it is easy to work hard for good people like you.

Being transplants from NYC, we purchased a foreclosed property which needed major renovation. Gand C did our kitchen earlier this year, and we wanted them to also do the master bath. Geo worked very closely with us to insure we got exactly what we wanted. His suggestions saved us thousands of dollars, still giving us the classic look we desired. Twelve work days later, a total renovation of our bathroom was complete, and beautiful. The best part of working with Gand C, is there are no subcontractors. The workers are expert in all fields of contracting. With reasonable rates, and expertise, Gand C gets my highest possible rating. JCS Hope Mills NC

Geo was extremely helpful throughout the planning and building process. He advised me on what to include and what was not worth including. He kept my budget in mind while still achieving my goals. Chelsea assisted me in choosing back splash, wall color, lighting, and cabinet types. I could not have done it all without her. She has an uncanny ability to envision the finished product. She has great taste and sense for appeal. The whole process was simple and I plan on utilizing Gand C in the future.

Geo came promptly for a detailed estimate Workers were prompt and polite. The kitchen was completely gutted - two walls came down making the space into an open concept. New cabinets, glass tiled back slash. Bead board was installed - and the walls, ceiling throughout were painted. Laminate flooring from kitchen into living room. High end ceiling mount exhaust fan. A 10 foot granite bi-level counted/bar, along with granite counters around a high end stainless steel farmhouse double sink. The second bathroom got crown moulding, and a laminate floor. The master bedroom got solid oak hardwood flooring.

Hired Gand C to repair the exterior of my house. They left a couple areas untouched and refused to come back to finish the job. Then the owner of the company asked for more money. They claimed the damage appeared after the work was done (2 weeks), then changed their story and said they hadn't noticed the damage. Would not recommend to friend or foe

I would like to start by saying that not only did we complete everything included in the contract that this customer signed, but we actually replaced double what we were contracted for at no additional cost to her. We recommended that the entire home be sealed and painted. The customer wanted to save money by only having the most obvious areas repaired. When we replaced twice the amount of siding/facia/etc that we were contracted for as a favor to the customer, we again informed her that the home was in serious disrepair due to the inexpensive materials and paint used by her previous contractors, as well as a serious lack of maintenance. She still opted not to have the home taken care of. Now that our areas of repair make the rest of the home stand out even more, she would like us to come and do the rest of the house for free. We have offered repeatedly to do any additional repairs for her, unfortunately she wants us to do it for at no cost to her, and we are unable to do so. We have already given her approximately $750 in free repairs during the initial work again, as a favor to her. Sadly it seems that some customers are not satisfied no matter what. I think the bad review actually stems from the fact that we had to let her know that any additional work would require payment upfront. We typically take a 50% deposit upon signing the contract and collect the remaining 50% upon completion of the job. As a courtesy to this customer who lives halfway across the country (and has not actually seen any of our work, in fact), we waited patiently for her to mail us a check which she told us was in the mail but that she never sent. Several weeks later she paid via credit card, even though it clearly stated on the contract that she signed that the final payment would be due upon completion of the job. We are a small company and are unable to finance jobs for customers, so this delay in payment put us in a bind. I don't think she was happy about the amendment to her payment terms for any additional work. In addition we have made several additional trips out to the property at her request to meet with her neighbor (who has been our point of contact since Member is so far away). In these meetings, he agreed that the areas of disrepair are areas that we were not in fact, contracted to do. He also agreed that we repaired/replaced double the amount contracted. Member has received confirmation of this as well as before and after pictures that we took of all of our work. I am 100% confident in the work that we did at the property and that we covered more than double what our (very detailed) contract with her entailed. The contract consisted of linear footage that we would replace and when you've replaced double that amount, it's impossible to argue with the numbers. We are a family-owned company and are extremely proud of our work. While there are difficulties with customers occasionally that can not seem to be satisfied, and we will always come across people who want something for nothing, I would say that 99% of our customers are amazing and we are blessed to have formed relationships with so many wonderful people in this community. In large part our business runs on word of mouth and referrals. We are always happy to provide referrals upon request for any type of work, and I think that the pictures on our website speak for themselves.
