Service provided by All About Detail Flooring is unacceptable and unprofessional. Over $2700 paid to the business and not completed after 70 days. Initial contracted stated a 5 day process to begin 13 December 2010. Crew sickness, weather, moisture were all excuses for delays. Several times, the owner lied about progress (said staining had begun, but no proof of staining 3 months later). I request a full refund of $2,763.69. After receiving the letter from All About Detail Flooring, I hired another company to complete the services, which they did in 5 days and at a cost of $2500. I paid over $1800 to All About Detail Flooring through PayPal in advance. Resurfacing of my hardwood floors was to begin on the 13th of Dec 2010 originally. However the owner contacted me on the 14th and said because too many of her workers had the flu they would not be able to start the work until the 20th. I told her I already had a renter who had a young daughter that wanted to move in on the 20th, before Christmas. On the 19th she contacted me to let me know prep work was to begin that evening. On the 22nd of December, my realtor drove by the house and told me nothing had been started on the house. I called her about this and her excuse was that the poor weather and moisture in the air would cause a problem for the work. I told her this was unacceptable and that I expected updates on the project in a timely manner. I shouldn’t have to call her to track down the reason for the delay. The owner then told me that the work won't be done until starting the 3rd of January, due to weather, crew sickness and the holidays. She then told me that the stain would cost $800 more and that payment was required before work could be finished. During communications, the owner kept referring to the contract and how they will get the work done when they can. I could not refer to the contract because I left it in the home for my realtor to pick up. When the owner of AADF came to pick up a washer and dryer she bought from me, she took my only copy of the contract. She stated she intended to mail it to me out of curtosy, however, not until I sought legal counsel did the owner fax a copy of the signed contract to the Fort Lee, VA legal office in January 2011. AADF had sole access to the house from December 13th 2010 until February 22, 2011. The windows to my home were left unlocked on at least two occasions that I checked on the home. AADF was notified and said it was an oversight, but not an emergency and could not come secure the home. On February 21, 2011, the owner texted me that due to molding they would continue to wait until the moisture subsided or continue with potential for the stain not to take to the moist wood around the edging. Another option was for me to replace my subflooring and wood floor, which she recommended on February 22, 2011. On Febrary 24th 2011 I informed the owner that until I got the house inspected she no longer had permission to enter my home. My realtor had the house inspected and there were no moisture issues. I received a letter from the owner stating that I was charged for no access and had a credit of $450, however a charge of $125 a day was assessed for no entry. The owner wrote that “this constitutes a contract breach and fee assessment daily. There will be no refund applied for services we are attempting to complete on your account, when not permitted to complete the agreed services.”
Description of Work: Service paid for: resurfacing of hard wood floors. Sand, stain and refinish 720 square feet . Contract anticipated start date was 13 December 2010. Owner stated it was a 5-7 day process. After 70 days, service was not complete, only sanding was done unprofessionally: big gouges in flooring, which were corrected when a new company was hired.
