We initially contacted Larry to give us an estimate for drywalling over a badly cracked 50yo ceiling during a bed/bath remodeling project. He assured us that he could repair the cracks, rather than drywall over them, at significantly less cost and comparable durability. He provided as much information as we needed re: the materials/method he would use and why such a repair would be reliable. Since he was there we also had him estimate costs for some common stress cracks, which typically I would have done on my own, and decided to have him do those as well. Larry was true to his word, the ceiling repairs were flawless and the final outcome was pristine. As a result, I decided to also have him do the joint seams and final skim coat on the new walls I constructed for a closet. I'm a fairly decent self taught handyman and had planned on doing it myself. But at his very reasonable rates and superb work - it was well worth the $$ and the peace of mind knowing it would be done efficiently and right, not to mention saving me the time and hassle. Once again his work was excellent. Then things got interesting. While Larry was on the job our electrician managed to cut holes where they didn't belong... or to cut new outlet holes too large, resulting in gaps showing around the cover plates. And since we were moving several outlets, there we also the old cutouts to be repaired. And our contractor managed during his demolition phase to both punch holes and create new cracks in the adjoining walls. Larry took care of them all and left them completely restored. Then it got really, really, interesting as the contractor 'finished' the bath remodel, which included some new wall construction, new corner/ceiling joints, some fudging into non-plumb old structure, filling in move wall heaters... on and on. Upshot is the drywalling and finish coat was #%^and #*$ bad. I mean, bringing my lady to tears bad. We turned to Larry for help once again, and he earned 'knight in shining armor' status in our books. He gave us an honest assessment (which basically was 'this guy should never be allowed to do drywalland quot;.) He didn't over-promise that he could make it perfect, but said he could make it better. He made adjustments in his schedule to help us out ASAP (since he knew we were now way behind deadlines.) And the bottom line is he turned a heartbreaking situation into a very passable outcome. I recommend Larry without any reservation whatsoever. If you're concerned about him being a one man shop... or showing up in a beater pickup and looking like he should be banging a drum on Pack Square (which he also does, btw) instead of in your living room --- put your concerns aside. Larry conducted all of his interactions with us with the highest level of personal integrity, genuine friendliness, and consideration of our needs. He did all of his work within the ongoing chaos created by the contractor, which made Larry's work unnecessarily more difficult; but he maintained a very cheerful, cooperative, and flexible attitude throughout. Larry is a rare find in today's world. He brings a genuine artisan's skill set to his work, truly likes what he does, and clearly takes both personal pride and personal responsibility for doing his work well. He demonstrated the spirit of 'old school' reciprocity in his business dealing with us... a fair exchange between honorable people where everyone benefits. When my lady and I reflect upon the disruptions, frustrations, delays, re-dos, and general chaos of our remodeling venture, it always ends with, and quot;except for Larry... thank goodness for Larry.and quot;
