Chris explained how he would perform the work. His helpers arrived on time and finished earlier than estimated. Price seemed a bit much, paying nearly $150/hr.

Larry is very personable, and listens to your needs and concerns. His showed up on time and cleaned up each day before leaving. He was very conscious of not allowing dust to travel into other rooms. The finished work was professional and came in under his bid. I will use Hang time Drywall in the future and recommend him.

Larry and his helper were on time, professional, responsive, courteous and friendly. They got the work done on time and under the estimate. I felt comfortable leaving my house to go to work while they worked one day and also didn't feel weird about having them around while I was there at other times (i haven't always felt this way about workers we've used). Our rooms look great and we would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: We had walls and ceiling of an entire room replaced. Larry also put a skim coat on the huge ceiling in another room.

Larry quoted the best price of the three people we had come look. He was the only one who answered his phone immediately and got back quickly, as he said he would. He showed up on time and did a very thorough assessment and asked a lot of specific questions that we hadn't thought about. He did all the work himself (with one helper to hang the drywall) and all the mudding by hand. He was neat and left the house clean and trash-free. He did a wonderful job and was very patient with everything. It seemed too good to be true, but he's just an honest, hard-working guy. I would recommend him to anyone. He was pretty booked and we had to wait about a month and a half, but for us, it was worth it.

Larry is undoubtedly the best drywaller you can hire. He came out to give an estimate to drywall 3 large walk in closets and the scope of work was later expanded to patching many, many ceiling and wall holes. His work is flawless and he is the most wonderful man to deal with. His pricing is beyond reasonable. The work was done in phases and he did his best to fit us into his schedule. All of the other workers who worked on our house complimented his work and his ability to work with them. I cannot say enough about what a wonderful experience it has been to have Larry on our team. He cleans up after himself (and unfortunately after other workers), and he hauls away his leftovers. He is the ultimate professional and is extremely courteous. Angies List users should absolutely look no further if they have drywall needs. My Angie's List membership was worth it just for leading us to Larry.
Description of Work: Larry installed drywall in 3 large unfinished hall closets and patched many, many holes in drywall throughout a 5700 square foot house after we had significant electrical work, plumbing work , and fireplace refurbishing done in our home.

Larry is THE BEST provider I've used off of Angie's List! We live in a Deltec home, and if you don't know this type of house, it is a round house. Larry arrived on time for an estimate, spent quite a bit of time inspecting our water damaged ceiling, and he actully cut away a small piece of the ceiling to inspect the insulation and wood to look for any mold or structual damage, gave us a decient quote that we could live with, then he came up with a date that he could begin the job, which gave us time to save up the money for the job and clean out the area's that he needed to work in. When Larry arrived to start the job, he was prepared as was the area he needed to work in, and got right to work, as he was working he talked to us and gave us suggestions on how he thought the finish of the ceiling would get the best results, which we went with, because we trusted him. Not only did he do a great job, he went above and beyond and fixed other things that he found, at the end of every day, he swept the floors and moped them! When the job was completed, he actually came in under budget and told us to give it a few days, and if we did'nt like something, he would come back and correct anything, on his own time and not charge us! What an awesome guy! We plan to have him come back and remove the rest of our popcorn ceilings in the rest of the house. Just can't say enough about how happy we are to have met Larry, and to have experienced such an honest and true professional!

Very professional! Excellent work. Job estimate was a and quot;not to exceedand quot; amount and our job came in under estimate which we found exceptional in today's work environment. We would have been fine paying the full estimate amount because of the scope of this job. Mr. McDowell and crew were on time every morning and worked full days. We found this company completely trustworthy in our home and do not hesitate to recommend and quot;Hang-Timeand quot; 100% to all who are looking for exceptional drywall work including new construction.

I have a 1920's house in West Asheville. The ceilings were popcorn/cottage cheese in living room, dining room, and kitchen and had stains from rain damage. Two bedrooms and hallway were old plaster that had been swirled and pulled into little ridges and peaks. The plaster ceilings had cracks and one bedroom actually had about a 1/4and quot;x 24and quot; crack where rain had come through and about 4and quot; x 18and quot; of plaster/paint had fallen off. I had the roof replaced in February and in May I called various contractors (from Angie's List) for the ceilings. The first scheduled contractor showed up on time. He could not give me a price and said he would call me with price and time but never called me back. He made the work sound very complicated and expensive and did not think it could be done without completely removing most ceiling drywall, etc. Larry was the second contractor to look at the ceilings. He arrived at the scheduled time. He observed all the issues, measured, and gave me an estimate of price and time for when he could do the work. He was able to actually give me a price for and quot;repairsand quot; for my insurance company and additional price for redoing all the ceilings to make them smooth. His original price did not include painting and I said that was o.k. as I would paint after he was finished. Larry was very knowledgeable and confident as to what he could do and he also advised me of potential problems that he would not know of until he actually got into the work (unable to verify certain conditions until the old ceilings were removed, etc.). We arranged a start day in first week of June (I needed to have the work completed before the third week of June as I was required to go to Washington state and would not be back for two or more months). Larry began on the arranged start date. He worked diligently every day (long hard hours) until the job was completed by end of second week of June. He covered walls and furniture. He cleaned up dust and debris, damp mopped floors and wiped the walls where they met the ceilings. A few days into the project he let me know that after he had removed the popcorn, the underneath was much smoother than he had expected and would not have to work as long on sanding it, so he said he would go ahead and paint the ceilings after he plastered. Except for the cost of the paint, the estimate did not change. The cracked old plaster ceilings had issues with the drywall pulling away -- he was able replace what was necessary and re-screw all sagging/loose drywall. He sanded the old plaster, taped and recoated with two smooth skin coats and new plaster AND he painted those ceilings too. Throughout the entire work, Larry was very professional and competent. Bottom line, my ceilings look wonderful AND final price was actually slightly less than original estimate!
Description of Work: Repaired rain damaged cracked, missing plaster; removed popcorn/cottage cheese and replastered smooth finish; sanded, taped cracks, skin coated and replastered old bumpy plaster ceilings.

You'll never find a more conscientious, honest and hard working guy than Larry. He did great work and called back a few times to see if everything looked OK. He even called me and offered to come see me on his day off. I didn't need him to because everything looked great. Look no further, this guy is the one you should use. Tom
Description of Work: Larry did all the drywall on my apartment renovation. Although it was small, it had a vaulted ceiling which added complexity and I needed a 2 hour firewall on the ceiling of the garage below. The structure was built in 1925 so othing was flush or plum. He spent a lot of time trying to make it look good.

Awesome experience. Larry was wonderful to work with. I have already recommended him to other people. He was done ahead of schedule and under his estimate. He passed those savings on to us, and could have inflated his price to get what he quoted us. However he is very professional and charged us based on hours put in and materials. His final bill had all the hours for each day by himself and his employee. His work is flawless, very well done, extremely well priced. He did three rooms and the walks are seamless and smooth. We had one wall that was tricky with half the wall brick and we had the whole thing drywalled over and he knew exactly how to do it with the right materials and it came out perfectly. He is so polite and easy to work with. I can't say enough about our positive experience with Larry. He is a hard worker, showed up at the same time each day and worked hard.

Larry started and finished the work when he said he would and we were very pleased with the results. The ceiling/wall joints match the existing ceiling and walls perfectly and I can't tell where the existing surfaces end and Larry's work begins. The same can be said of the patches. Larry is a perfectionist and it shows in his work. But even though he is a perfectionist that doesn't mean he doesn't get the job done. He is very reliable and starts and finishes on time. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Larry fixed separated ceiling/wall joints that had a semi rough textured ceiling attaching to a smooth wall. The joint required re-taping and matching to the smooth wall and rougher texture ceiling. He also filled in various holes in the walls ranging from a few inches to one that measured about a foot across.

Larry arrived at approximately 3:00 p.m. on 9/12/2012 to provide an estimate. We accepted his estimate and he actually began work at 3:30 p.m. that very day. The following 2 days he completed the job...on time and on budget. Larry was very consciencious about his work, and repeatedly asked us to let him know if we saw anything that we were not happy with. His work is exemplary, and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for drywall/plaster work. You couldn't ask for a more honest or pleasant human being.

Larry is amazing. His work ethic, quality of craftsmanship, promptness, attitude, and personality were all outstanding. We simply could not have hired anyone better. We hired him to hang drywall on three ceilings (room size each 8 x 16), skim one wall (8 x 16). The original quote was just under $1,000 plus materials. While on the job we added 2 more jobs to our wish list ( skim corners in one room, patch the plaster ceiling in the living room ceiling (very large area), which he willingly took on with a "no problem" attitude. The job started on Monday was completed on Friday, mostly because the high humidity kept the walls from drying properly, otherwise he would have been done on Thursday. After the added work we asked him to do he still came in $150 dollars under the original quote, and that included materials. You can tell from all of the work Larry did that he takes pride in his work and will not take any short cuts. He also thoroughly cleaned every area where he worked and left the house looking much better than it did when he arrived. We can not tell you how happy we are with his services. We will definitely be hiring him for our next job.

Larry was very prompt, courteous and did an outstanding job. With our work schedules it was very helpful that Larry was willing and able to start and finish the entire job over a weekend. The cost for the job was very fair and the work was completed in a very timely manner. I would highly recommend Larry to anyone who is need of dry wall installation or repair. Larry was also nice enough to recommend an individual who sprayed the "popcorn" texture on our ceiling to complete the job and we were very pleased with the final appearance of our down stairs ceiling when it was completely repaired. If we should ever need any type of dry wall service/repair in the future we will not hesitate to call Hang Time Drywall! Thanks so much!

Larry is awesome: super knowledgeable, hardworking, thorough, and friendly. The drywall patches are smooth and pristine. Once we paint it, you won't be able to tell we had any work done. One of the most impressive things about Larry is how well he cleaned up. Our house was already pretty dusty from the work done by the other contractors, and we were expecting the drywall patching to be the messiest part. Instead, Larry left the house cleaner than he found it! He even vacuumed the walls! And his price was extremely reasonable considering the time he spent and the quality of the work. I wish every contractor were this good!

Larry McDowell is a wonderful personality, soft spoken, helpful, kind, and trustworthy. When the previous handyman I had hired didn't work out at the last minute, Larry attempted to find me someone else for that week because he was performing at Leaf Fest and was unavailable. Although he was unable to find a substitute, his attempt to go out of his way to help me out of a stressful situation was a "sign" to rearrange my timeline and wait for him to do the job the following week. I'm so glad I did and feel fortunate to have known his acquaintance. I will not hesitate to hire him again for any future projects and highly recommend him and his talent!
Description of Work: Larry finished mudding my bathroom drywall project that a previous handyman had begun, but could not complete as promised. Larry showed up on time for an estimate and an evaluation of the initial coat of mud. He noted it had been applied too thick and not feathered, but he would try to smooth it out with sanding and subsequent coats of mud to get the desired smooth finish I wanted. He arrived on the first work day as promised and got to work. Larry mixed his own mud rather than using the premixed compound the previous handyman had applied. It was obvious that Larry is a real professional drywaller...he is swift, exacting, and cleaned up the area when finished. He came back the following day and completed the job perfectly and much to my satisfaction. The total job took 6.5 hrs the first day and 3.5 hrs the next day and he was right on estimate. I was extremely pleased with his work, it's quality, and his professionalism.

Larry gave a clear explanation of the work that needed to be done with a detailed written estimate. He offered the estimate as the outside cost limit and let me know that if he was able to get the job done in less time, as long as he earned his hourly rate, he would charge me less. He also let me know that while he had a lot of experience with knockdown finishing, he had a carpenter colleague who was more experienced and proficient in the type of popcorn finish on our ceiling and he'd call upon him to do that part of the job. I felt very at ease with Larry's articulate explanation of the job, his calm, easygoing nature and he appeared to have the integrity, professionalism and confidence in the work to be done that I was looking for. He came out three times to replace the drywall and finish the seams and Paul completed the popcorn finish on the fourth visit. Larry's work was impeccable. The joints were smooth and we found the work and quot;outstanding.and quot; I wasn't sure about the popcorn finish at first while it was still wet as the texture was larger at that point. After it dried, the popcorn-finish repair area was seamless to the rest of the ceiling and truly isn't noticeable at all. The work couldn't have been done better and came in under the estimate of $350. Both men worked very cleanly which we appreciated as well.
