room...two full baths..an entry hall ...and a partial bedroom hall. Had it been a smaller job, and only a couple of installers, I think it would have been a more satisfactory job. There were at least 5 Mexican installers....all working in different areas and some were very young (teenagers?) and inexperienced. I have always been VERY particular about caring for my woodwork and it was in perfect condition. Immediately, the 17 door casings were trimmed....too high and with a lot of splitting and chipping to the casings. There is NO solution to this problem...you cannot add the wood back on! Many pieces of long, perfect pieces of flooring were installed in a back, walk in closet where they will never be seen. Small sections could have been used there. Meanwhile, they ran out of wood in the office and we had to purchase more. This flooring was glued AND nailed, yet, we still get a sticking-release kind of sound when we walk throught the kitchen doorway. Several split and damaged pieces were installed....always in a section that is never covered by furniture, of course. A lot of this flooring joints are spaced about 1/8 inch joint apart. Some of the flooring has a rippled appearance down the side joints, even though I was told they had a special machine to prevent that. The butterfly paneling in the office was damaged by being hit with the end of flooring boards, as were several places on the walls of the den and kitchen. When I complained of the damage, I was told they felt it was "minimal".....I found it extensive and unacceptable. I deducted several hundred dollars from the bill to cover it. The installers put some kind on filler in a lot of the chipped places...but it was very unsatisfactory. Much of my woodwork was wood stained...the filler was white! The threshholds are fitted only to the doorstops...not the door casings. Looking across the expanse of a floor...the wood is often tipped up at a joint.Spots of glue were every where on top of the flooring . Three years later and I am still finding glue spots. At 65 years old I do not enjoy crawling around on my hands and knees and cleaning these spot s. By the front door the flooring does not even go under the casing...there is a gap. Last year we discovered we had water damage to the flooring around one of the toilets. The installers had not seated the toilet properly on the screws. Frank, the owner of the business, refused to stand behind his job because it had been two years. Water damage takes a long time to show up in a seldom used bathroom at the far end of the house. We had to hire a private contractor to repair the wood floor and install the toilet properly. Three years...and this installation still botters me. I wish I had never put in hardwood floors......... I love the way the rooms "flow" but I see a lot of problem areas that could have been avoided.
Description of Work: We purchased hardwood flooring from this company, and hired them to install it.This job was probably more than 2000 square feet of flooring...I do not have the exact footage in front of me. It involved: a large den...large kitchen....a home office...laundry
