We hired Vortex Drainage to install our flagstone path/french drain and because it was such a pleasure to work with them, we had no doubt that they were the best team to install our patio..... hands down. Honestly, I didn't know just how much experience they had in installing patios (since they are a drainage company) but having gotten to know their extensive attention to detail, their love of their job, and their amazing thoughtfulness in EVERY STEP OF THE PROJECT, I KNEW that even IF they hadn't had a lot of experience in installing patios that they'd do an amazing job. And I was RIGHT!!! Each step of the process was carefully executed and attention to detail was given down to every last inch. Each stone was perfectly seated and fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. Every stone was leveled to the other with a very very slight drop for drainage. The retaining wall looks amazing and it is also perfectly level and finished to a T! The fire pit looks amazing too and has a drain in the bottom for easy cleaning and rain drainage. It all looks incredibly amazing! I couldn't be happier! I wish I could post a picture on here but I don't see a way to upload it. Lastly, they were by far the least expensive of all the quotes I received. I'd definitely recommend the Vortex team. They ALWAYS had a GREAT attitude, even while working in a 100 degree heat index. They love their job. And there's a LOT to be said for that. It shows in their work. Everyone who has seen our patio and the french drain/pathway they did for us is blown away with how beautiful it looks, how well it is done and the great price we received. You won't regret hiring the Vortex team: Kevin, Chris, Dannon and Jimmy. They're good men.

Kevin and crew dug a trench drain across my driveway and installed a drainage system to my front downspout to route water away from the front of my house. He was knowledgeable, punctual, polite, hard working and very professional and did good work. He even thew in some extra work that wasn't originally discussed at no cost. He was concerned that the customer be totally satisfied and didn't hesitate to go the extra mile. I would recommend Vortex to anyone requiring drainage work.

Kevin and his team did an excellent job on my property. We were having major water issues on our property due to lack of proper drainage mechanism. Kevin was very knowledgeable and told us exactly what needs to be done to permanently fix the drainage problem. His team also showed up on time and did an amazing job to say the least. They answered all the questions we had upfront and walked us through different phases of work while it was being done to ensure 110% customer satisfaction. Vortex Drainage Solutions did an EXCELLENT job and provided the service at a VERY competitive price. They scheduled and performed the job just 3 days after I awarded them the job. The cement pad is perfectly level with my drive way and designed in a way that is aesthetically pleasing and fits with my landscape. And the water drainage problem has been fix. The crew did a thorough job of cleaning up after themselves. Kevin (the owner) was professional, responsive to my needs and patient with my many, many questions. Kevin's professionalism and patience was a huge selling point for me as I am a very picky customer and admittedly very demanding when it comes to engaging contractors. I felt as though I could trust Kevin and he did not disappointment me. Kevin offered to send me pictures of their progress as they worked throughout the day and he followed-up with me after I arrived home to give me a detailed description of their work and to see if I was pleased. Vortex Drainage Solutions went the extra mile and I highly recommend them for your contracting needs.

The work was performed on a rental property in Chatham County. It's an old cinderblock home built originally in the 1950's. I purchased and extensively renovated the property, which is now rented to a young family. Renters complained of a mold problem, primarily on one side of the house that is exposed to rainwater run-off from a neighboring property. I contacted three companies purporting to deal with basement/crawlspace dampness and after some discussion with each of them on-site, I chose Vortex, who gave the lower estimate and because the owner, Kevin, was more willing to discuss and explain the pros and cons of different approaches to dealing with basement dampness. Vortex completed the work over a 2.5-day period, leaving no mess or debris. Kevin was very responsive and kept in touch with me by phone throughout the job, and met me on-site after completion to explain everything that was done. I though he was particularly conscientious and professional, and emphasized more than once that he wanted us to be completely satisfied with the job. Although it is too early to determine how successful the solution will be long-term, so far the drainage system and moisture barrier appear to be doing their job well - there have been a couple of heavy rains since the installation, and the tenants reports are very positive. Based on our experience, I would certainly recommend this Company.

Kevin analyzed an old drainage scheme which was not working at all at our house. He presented a clear diagram and explanation of his plan for replacing and improving the old homemade system and even showed me how some work I had thought we needed was unnecessary. His quote was detailed in material and labor charges and came in at exactly what we had imagined it would be. Our feeling was that it was very fair. Work began the following Monday and was completed that Friday. Not only did they complete the drainage work but also replaced a section of concrete walkway which had been undermined by water flowing beneath it. The site was left perfectly clean after the job was completed. We found Kevin easy and friendly to work with and he and his guys were always happy to answer any questions I had about what they were doing. I can recommend Kevin Harrington and Vortex Drainage Systems without reservation.

Was experiencing problem with water seeping into basement during heavy rains for approx 3 months. This problem would require us to have to put down towels to help absorb excess water as well as suction water during these times to help prevent flooding into other areas of fully furnished basement. Mother sought out bids from various vendors using Angie's List resulting in approx 4-5 estimates. Kevin's service provided the most detailed solution and provided best explanation as to how to solve my parent's problem therefore he was their vendor of choice. My mother reports that what was most impressive about Kevin Harrington, the Owner, was that he really listened to her explanation of their problem. He was most knowledgeable about how to correct the problem and very consultative in his approach. In performing their workmanship, the workers were very was cautious in how they handled and maneuvered the landscape --- allowing for minimal disruption of the soil and overall grounds. Kevin and his team used top quality materials and kept the landscape intact. The end results were marvelous.

After suffering drainage issues and lawn erosion for some years, the 2013 rain nearly did us in and we ended up with damp in our crawl space. It took us a lot of searching to find a company willing to work with our difficult, heavily landscaped lot using high quality PVC instead of cheap corrugated black pipe, which just collapses or clogs up with silt and roots. (The last jackleg job we paid for failed after 18 months, so don’t kid yourself.) Our job was further complicated by the fact that we have a great deal of irrigation and drip line, much of which lay in the path of the route we needed the drainage to run. Worse still, all our utilities, including the gas line, ran through the same narrow strip of turf. Vortex was the first company that did not run away screaming. They were very sure they could manage it—and they did. My irrigation guy bet me $50 they couldn’t do it without cutting something. He lost. We now have downspouts carefully piped underground—with screw-top clean-outs, no less—that will last the lifetime of our home. In most areas, you can’t even tell the turf was cut and dug beneath. They tunneled under shrubs, tree roots, turf, utilities, pipes, and even our sidewalk. We also have a carefully drawn site plan of where the drains lie, as well as a photographic map of it, too. In the future, we will know what is where, and how it works. If it doesn’t work, we will be able to fix it without digging up our lawn. Kevin Harrington, the company owner, has a long track record at this sort of work. He is an earnest and knowledgeable young man with great patience, a good grasp of what is possible, and a willingness to work hard. Vortex did a truly professional job and the entire team was a pleasure to have on site. Sadly, it is always true -- you get what you pay for. You just do. Vortex may not come cheap, but the best never does.

His price for waterproofing the crawl space was in the middle. I had 5 estimates, and some were $3200 higher than Kevin's. The reason I went with another provider was this business was not in existence very long and there was no warranty. I also had emailed him back with a couple of questions, with one being about warranty and he never got back to me, so I know I made the correct decision.
