University Lights

I just loved this store and the people who worked there. Sydney greeted me as soon as I walked in and listened to what I had in mind for lighting. She sat down with me and went through books and was so patient. She sent me home with a number of catalogs to look through. University Lights is a family-owned/family-run store that has been in operation since 1971. I love that they are locally owned. Sydney's grandfather opened the store and now she, her brother, and uncle work there. With the online retailers getting most business these days, I think it's so important to support local stores like this one - especially when they are so kind and helpful!

The salesperson helped us determine what lighting we needed. When I saw a light I liked but said I wanted a slightly different shape, the salesperson immediately said the lights did come in other shapes and showed me the catalog. It was exactly what I had been looking for and I couldn't believe how affordable they were. I had seen similar lights at other stores (including Lowe's and Home Depot) for two to five times the cost. It was a great experience overall and will definitely go back for more lighting. Their selection is fantastic and their staff very nice.

Fantastic. I am a first-time homeowner trying to get some work done on my new house, and University Lights has been the one shining bright point in an otherwise very painful learning experience. The salesperson we worked with was patient with us while we decided on our fixtures, and made some helpful and useful suggestions. One of the light fixtures we ordered was not what we expected, and they took it back with no questions asked. Another developed problems after installation, and they came out to my house and repaired it, no questions asked. Their prices were by and large cheaper than on line, too! The one slight problem is that they have hours that make it difficult for 9-5ers to stop by during the week.
