We had two painters for a day. The two men who came from Tropical Painting arrived right on time. They were very professional, helpful, and courteous. The work they did was amazing. Damaged spots on the walls were filled in and sanded before being painted, and now they are smooth and unblemished. The paint on the walls is even and smooth. Extra care had to be taken because they were using bright and dark colors on walls next to walls that were being left white. We can't believe how beautiful our rooms look. The painters took great care to prep and clean, including vacuuming when they were done, and offering to help us move furniture back in to the room that we had moved out on our own. In an eight our work day the two painters prepped three rooms, repaired damaged walls, painted a total of four large walls and four alcove walls (different colors in different rooms) with 2-3 coats of paint, painted a small bathroom, and completely cleaned up and helped move furniture back. We will definitely use Tropical Painting for future needs.

Tropical Painting & General Construction Company employs excellent skilled professional painters. The guys arrived about 10 minutes early, asked to see the work area, brought in their supplies using the side gate to enter the porch and got busy! They worked consistently throughout the day, painting neatly inside and outside. I was pleasantly surprised when they asked if I had something else for them to do. There was time left on the 8 hour deal and rather than complete the specified job in 6 hours and leave, they did more. These were men of integrity! When they came inside to paint the door and window frames they carefully removed the blinds and hardware and painted quickly, quietly and neatly. I plan to have them back in the fall and asked Mr Michael Almestica to provide an estimate for additional painting.

Overall everything as promised.

The first man that came out was very nice and professional. He had to wait for the mud to dry so in between he would work on other cracks and nail pops. He did use a heat gun to speed things up but I had to do most of the sanding after he left because the mud would not dry fast enough due to the humidity. The second man who came out to redo the work was a very nice and professional as well. Very hard worker. He fixed all the nail pops and found more that I hadn't noticed. I had him fix them at an extra cost. He reworked the cracks in the walls and even sanded them. But they have come back as well. The only crack that hasn't come back was the biggest of all. I think the material they used on the big crack seemed to work better than just the mud they mixed up in their trays. They tried to fix these cracks twice, which are just from the house setteling (2007) I wish the cracks hadn't come back. I am going to attempt to fix myself with some materials from Lowes.

The painters showed up right on time. They said 8:30 and they were here. I have never seen such a good paint job. I'm an interior designer and have used many painters before but Tropical Painting is now my go to. I was also helped putting back art that was very high. My place was put back together the next day after the paint dried. I have absolutely no complaints with the painting or the painters who went out of their way because I am so picky about how my place looks.. Thank you Tropical Painters.

"I bought a 'big deal' through Angie?s list which was listed as '$349 for 2 Painters for a Day -- Exterior or Interior Painting.? Tropical Painting & General Construction Company sent out 2 people, one of whom was an actual painter and the other was not a painter but a painter?s helper. This second guy had only been employed as a painter by Tropical for two or three months, according to what I was told by the Owner, Mike Almestica. As a result, they were able to complete only about 70% of what I thought they could have completed with two actual painters. I personally have had experience house painting and have a reasonable assessment of what can be accomplished in a day by 2 painters. As I explained to them, my plan and been to provide support for them as painters so I took the day off from work. The lead painter was working diligently for the entire period he was at the house. However, I noticed that the second guy seemed to be less focused on the work. The two of them worked in areas throughout the first floor of our home. They did what they could do and departed our home at the end of the day. A bit after they left the house, my wife checked in her hiding place which was in a bowl in a china cabinet on the first floor of our home and learned that a significant portion of her jewelry (11 pieces of gold jewelry including her wedding band and wedding ring ? our 30th anniversary will be this August -- we believe that the jewelry had a value in excess of $20,000) were missing. These pieces were not the most expensive pieces of jewelry that you might imagine but my wife could write paragraphs about each one and the reasons for the emotional connection that she has to them. The night before as she prepared for bed, my wife took off the jewelry she had worn that day and put it in the hiding place and notice that all of her jewlery was there. No one other than the painters came into our home between the time that she put her jewelry in the bowl and the time that she checked it after their departure. We called the owner and made out a police report. We have now received the attached letter from the attorney for Tropical Paintin making treats to us for talking about this, forbidding me from talking to the owner, and asking about our insurance policies. If I were you, I?d never let any representative of Tropical Paintin into my home or onto my property. It would seem that they either participate in thefts or harbor thieves and then, rather than dealing with the matter forthrightly, they hire aggressive lawyers and try to get your insurance to cover what's been done by their employees. Beware!!!!

The painter who arrived at the house on the first day was outstanding. He was professional, courteous, and most of all wanted the job done the right way. The second day, two other workers came with him and worked hard all day. The house looks amazing, better than I would have ever expected it to look, and certainly better than anything I could have done! I would recommend this company to anyone needing a painting job.

Their communication was great. They let us know exactly when they would be here and they arrived on time. Two of the rooms that we wanted them to paint had been painted with horizontal stripes by the previous owners. It took them quite a while to sand and skim the walls but it was worth it in the end. The walls are are very smooth and the paint looks great.

Michael Almestica, the owner of Tropical Paint sent his "cabinet man" Rafael over to do the job. He was great to work with, very detail oriented, and did a fabulous job!!! I had to interview 5 cabinet refinishers before I found Tropical Paint. No one wanted to tackle my job because of the sanding involved and wallpaper next to two cabinets. Rafael took the drawer fronts and doors out to take with him to their workshop in Durham, so he only worked on the frame of the cabinets here. He covered the floors of the work area with thick plastic sheeting which he taped down. Then he made 2 plastic bubbles hanging from the ceiling and taped them shut to work within while sanding the frame and spray-painting 3 coats of paint (wearing a gas mask). He also covered the carpet with tarps where he had to walk. I have never seen a painter take such great care to leave everything pristine. He had to come back a few times since he could only apply one coat of paint at a time. Then he brought the doors/drawers back, installed them again, added new knobs I provided, and did a great job vacuuming and cleaning up. Rafael is a gem! The only down side are the paint fumes, this will need a lot of airing out! You would not want to put your clothes back in the drawers right away. If you need a great cabinet refinisher they are the company for you! They have a workshop where they can sand and spray paint much better than in your house and Rafael will do a great job.

edChris and his partner arrived early and did a great job. All the rooms were painted the same white color. They called when done and left everything clean.

Based on outstanding Angies list reviews and grade . I decided to ask this vendor to give me a quote, for some work that needed done on a timely manner. The owner who sounded quite pleasant, promised me a quotation that evening, which did not come. I called the next day, and he was all promises again. And then the next day after. I guess he might be busy, but would have appreciate him telling me upfront, than asking me to make a list and keeping me hanging.

Chris did an excellent job. Very punctual and professional. Knew exactly what should be done. Also very accommodating. Added plus was the dogs didn't bother him at all, took right to him. Could hardly tell he was here for most of the time

I purchased a deal for 3 hours of plaster repair for $99.00. 2 workers came. They were both courteous, polite and worked quickly and cleanly. I spent a bit of time chatting with Abo while he worked and learned quite a bit about how to properly prep for painting from him. I had a paint issue in one room of the house and he told me how to repair it in order to have the paint bond properly. They used drop clothes while they worked and swept the space clean when done. I would highly recommend Tropical Painting. Ask for Abo - he was great.

Paint work was thorough with proper preparation, clearly took longer than anticipated but never complained about a few unanticipated complications. The hardware install ended up requiring another member of the crew who had more carpentry experience. This, too, was done very professionally and with a great deal of care that the final result was successful. The communication by Mike was particularly professional, calling me to inform me of a 30 minute initial delay, calling me after completion to make sure I was pleased, and responding very quickly to a subsequent adjustment that had to be made involving the door handle. For a relatively small job, I was treated with the level of care I'd expect as if i had been spending thousands of dollars. Tropical Painting is a pleasure to deal with!

Went perfectly. I had used Michael and his crew a year ago to renovate my bathroom and I was so pleased with that job that there was no contest in choosing him again. The are always neat, prompted and cheerful. Their work is meticulous.

Mike and his crew were great to work with. The job took about 15 days so I got to know almost everyone on his 6-person crew at one point or another. I felt comfortable having them in the house and even left them to work alone on multiple occasions while I ran errands. They all seemed to be hard workers and arrived punctually each day; on those days when they were delayed, Mike always emailed or called to let me know what was going on. The quality of their work was excellent. I was especially impressed with their prep work. These rooms hadn't been painted in 35 years, so considerable prep was needed. They mudded, sanded, primed, painted, and always cleaned up before leaving each day. They even came back after I had paid them to do several hours of touch-up on the wainscoting in the laundry room. I liked the fact that so many of them were perfectionists and took such pride in their work. I was very pleased with the quality of their services and definitely would use them again.

Responsive and excellent work.

Abo & Joseph showed up on time at 8:30am. I told them what I needed done & where to find the paint. They did some taping around the edges and made sure that every surface that was not being painted was covered and protected. Both gentlemen were very kind, considerate and happy during the entire job. They worked pretty much non-stop. Abo was a "can do" man. He is out to make sure the customer is happy. They painted quickly and very accurately. When the job was complete, they went back and made sure that every inch was painted and nothing was missed. I am VERY pleased with the job they did. I would definitely hire them again.

We had some difficulty scheduling due to our work schedules and some unexpected snow days, and we did have to chat on the phone with the owner after a little confusion over email. When they came to do the work, it was done very well. The worker was very friendly and made sure to use protective plastic and fabric around all the areas and cleaned up after himself. Any supplies that we didn't have he purchased and they added that to the bill, no upcharge. You can't even see any variations and it blends perfectly, even though we didn't know if we had the right ceiling paint color. We paid a very fair price and really appreciated that he stayed late to finish the job that same day. We would definitely use them again, really appreciated the quality of work.

The gentleman literally showed up with just a paint brush and didn't pay much attention to detail when doing the work. I later found out that the company had hired him as a temporary worker.

Guys showed up on time. I had done a fairly good job emptying rooms, removing wall hangings, misc furniture, and the guys seemed to really appreciate my effort, going above and beyond with things like additional sanding where I had done an amateur drywall "pre-patch" job in the closet. Work done, prep, cleanup were all top notch. Guys were personable, considerate, and quick. Job was finished when the guys ended by actually vacuuming the floor (drywall dust)! Couldn't be happier.

Michael, owner, and his assistant arrived promptly to install the crown molding in the two rooms on the first day. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly when they were finished for the day. The next day his painter arrived late due to a flat tire, and due to my commitments for the day he had to return the second day to finish the painting. When the painter returned the second day, he appeared to rush through the job. He did not cleanup the bathroom and failed to complete work in the one room. I spoke with Michael, concerning the painting, clean up and also my disappointment in how two of the molding joints looking. Michael had no hesitation in returning to the job at my convenience and completing the job to my satisfaction. I believe that Michael is very concerned about the job he does, and wants to satisfy his customers.

The wall looks great and the banister attached to the wall has never been this stable!
