+ -1 moreI purchased all of my appliances from them 18 years ago and was very satisfied. My refrigerator "died" last week so I went straight back to them. I really try to purchase locally. Well, they are as good as I remembered. They found a perfect replacement for me at a great price. The delivery personnel were wonderful. Why would anyone buy from a "big box" store when such a great local company is here in Durham?

+ 0 moreOur 17 year old dishwasher broke down and we decided to replace it since it had been repaired a couple of times. I called The Appliance Center and researched what they had over the Internet because I am disabled. I had purchased all my appliances from them in 1999 when I remodeled my kitchen and had been pleased. I also felt I would want to replace the dishwasher with another Bosch since I liked the old one so much. They were willing to match a slightly lower price I found online and took my credit card information over the phone. Next day they promptly delivered and installed my wonderful new dishwasher. As always, I'm very pleased with them. Two weeks later, our 17 year old refrigerator broke down and they were accommodating enough to deliver us a new one the very next day also!

+ -1 moreStaff were helpful. The machine was delivered and installed as promised. The machine works well and I am well satisfied. I would definitely buy from them again. Their prices are more expensive than the big box stores, but the quality and service is much better than what you find in chain stores.

+ -1 moreAfter reading other reviews, I expected that it would take a long time, but it was ready in 10 days as they said. It worked in the shop, but next day the switch stuck again. I took it back and they repaired it. We've had no more problems with it. By the look of the shop they are quite busy. I appreciate that they made good on their work with no problems, and would definitely take an appliance to them again.

+ 0 moreOur kitchen contractor suggested the Appliance Center and it was a great experience. The sales staff was very knowledgeable. Unlike the big box stores, they actually know their product lines. We worked with Mr. Ovenden who didn't up-sell or over-sell, and who was able to answer all our questions with great patience. Everything was in stock, and the prices quoted were comparable to the big boxes. They worked seamlessly with our contractor, showed up when they said they would, helped us get our rebates, and called to follow up when one item got delivered early. While we don't usually shop in Durham, this company will be our go-to when we next need appliances.

Description of Work: My husband and I went to The Appliance Center to replace our WOLF gas oven. An installer was to come to our home to determine if we could replace our older model with the new model. Finally, after several weeks, the installer did come out on March 2, 2012. He measured the area; however, he needed to gather more information in order to know if the installation of the new WOLF oven was going to be possible in the existing space. He said that he would get back to us that week. When, we did not hear from him, after several weeks, I called the salesman who was going to sell us the oven to find out what was going on. He said that he would call the installer and get back to us. It has been manyl weeks, and, I have not heard a word. This has been a very unpleasant and frustrating experience. Very poor service.

We liked that they were willing to match the price from any other retailers and that they did not try to sell us anything that we were not looking for. + -1 moreThis was a replacement for a second, basement refrigerator. I needed a basic model without bells and whistles. They had a compatible model on the floor, and arrangements were quick and easy. I would have preferred immediate delivery, but the truck had just departed with today's deliveries, and because of the holidays, was delayed until the following week. Salesman was knowledgeable and helpful.
Description of Work: This company has been in the Durham area for decades, and we have bought appliances of all types from them during this whole time span. They have a representative stock of items on their showroom floor, but may not have a specific model or item. They have always been prompt and helpful, and pricing has been comparable to big box stores in the area. They also work closely with design and decorating companies in the area. Our recent purchase was a refrigerator.

The Appliance Center offers the following services: We offer a showroom stocked with a wide selection of appliances from over 50 major brands. We provide specialized pricing and programs for builders and professional designers, and work with clients to provide delivery, installation, and hauling services.
We are NOT a retailer, we are a builder distributorship; this means that we don't stock all of our products in-house, we order products as needed. This being said, we do carry a limited stock of our most popular products for retail customers. We also don't offer gas installations, we deliver gas products, and set in place, but a third party will be required to hook up. We no longer offer in house repairs, but will be glad to put our clients in contact with one of our many preferred technicians.
