I worked with Lori Paschall to design window treatments for my family room, living room, dining room and study. She was delightful and very knowledgeable about designs, fabrics and trims. She listened to what I had in mind and brought fabric samples that were spot on. We also used some fabrics I already had as well as recovered three seat bottoms. The entire experience was seamless, from design to installation, and enhanced by Lori's enthusiasm, attention to detail and depth of knowledge. If you ever have experienced design services that do not go well, you know how valuable it is to find someone who makes the experience a pleasure with outstanding results! Highly recommend Sew Fine II for any interior design projects on your list.

(written by my wife) I originally met with the sales person who came over with the fabric samples back in June. I explained to get exactly what I wanted which was sheer curtains on a thick wood rail that would have enough fabric to cover my entire window. After giving a 50% deposit, the sales woman effectively disappeared. At one point I had to leave her 3 or 4 voicemails in order to get her to call me back. The installation date was moved a few times both because of her rescheduling and my own. So much time would pass in between phone calls that my husband and I actually purchased another house in the same development while we waited for a set installation date. When I finally talked to a manager, I was able to set an installation date. The curtains were installed in our new home, not the one previously mentioned because we knew we weren't going to be living there much longer. However, the house was built by the same architect, and the window in question was the same size as the previous window. When they came to install the curtains, they were late. I had asked to be given a specific time because I explained to the manager that I did not currently reside at this house, and I needed to know what time to get there. When I finally saw the curtains complete, I noticed there was barely any fabric. Maybe about 4 inches worth on each side, and the fabric was pinned together making it completely immobile. I had asked for there to be enough fabric to close the curtains, I'd say I would need about another foot's worth of fabric to do so. My husband and I called and left a message voicing our concerns, we were simply told we'd get a call back tomorrow. We are not sure if the job will be fixed.
Description of Work: crafted and installed curtains.

In response to the review posted by (Member names removed), it is important that the facts regarding the order are also publicized. (Member name removed) selected a fabric, style of draperies, and drapery hardware with a designer from Sew Fine II on June 20, 2013. At that time (Member name removed) signed a contract that specified stationary drapery panels to be made in a sheer fabric and installed on a 2-inch diameter wood pole. Details as to where the ends of the pole were also specified on the contract (Member name removed) signed. Sew Fine II had the draperies and drapery hardware available to be installed on July 24, 2013. By phone, (Member name removed) told the Sew Fine II designe that in the month since she placed the order, she had purchased a new home and wanted the draperies installed in the new home. (Member name removed) told the designer she would let her know when the house was ready for the installation. Sew Fine II agreed to hold the draperies and hardware, without requesting the final payment, until (Member name removed) scheduled the installation. We have 2 saved voicemail messages from (Member name removed) in which she apologizes for the delay in the installation and referenced flooring issues in her new home as the reason for the delay in the drapery installation. (Member name removed) called the designer on September 3, 2013 requesting another delay in installation. (Member name removed) called the designer's cell phone and not our business phone number that day. The designer was on vacation and did not return the call. On September 5, 2013, (Member name removed) called the business phone to inform us the designer had not returned her call from 2 days prior and did not wish to work with this designer for the installation. We accommodated (Member name removed) request and scheduled the installation for noon on October 1, 2013. A staff member called (Member name removed) a week prior to the installation to confirm the time and date were still good for her schedule. (Member name removed) was not present at the installation. Her spouse, (Member name removed) was present. At the conclusion of the installation he expressed his satisfaction with the stationary panels and paid the balance due. I personally received the call from (Member name removed) on Oct 2, 2013 at 4:25pm. (Member name removed) told me his wife wanted draperies that would cover the window. I told (Member name removed) the notes from this order would need to be reviewed and he would get a returned call on October 3, 2013. On October 3, 2013, at 9:40am, a staff member left a message to discuss the diraperies at the phone number that (Member name removed) had given to me on the day prior. Later during the day on Oct. 3, 2013, (Member name removed) both spoke, on speaker phone, to our business manager. The manager stated the signed contract specified stationary panels. An offer was made to remove the mechanism that keeps the stationary panels from sliding unintentionally across the poles or making the pole more narrow. Neither offer was accepted by the (Member name removed), and they hung up on the business manager. Please note: In the complaint written by (Member name removed), she alleges the sheer panels are only 4" wide. The photo that she posted shows this is not the case. After the panels were dressed in place, they measure 15" wide as shown in the photo. Sew Fine II has a reputation of providing well made, custom window coverings that are ordered only after a contract is approved by the customer. In this case, we provided exactly what was stated in the contract and have offered two solutions to the (Member name removed) objections. However, we cannot proceed toward a resolution without the (Member name removed) cooperation.

It went very well. Lori was very helpful with suggestions. The drapery and roman shade are well made, work very well with the rooms, and properly installed. Very happy with the results.
Description of Work: Lori came to my house and recommended window treatments and paint colors for the dining, living, and bath rooms. We discussed paint colors for the rest of the first floor, as well as where to break colors for the open areas in the entry, family room, and kitchen. She returned at a later date with additional books of fabric and we settled on the final choices. The window treatments were made and installed a few weeks later.

I have been working with Lori and she is an absolute delight. She met me at my home while it was under construction to learn more about my family and our lifestyle so she could make appropriate recommendations. We came up with an initail game plan to order the blinds so they could be installed right after we closed on the house. She prepared a quote and it was comparable with another quote I received. I especially liked that I could work with her not just for blinds but for all of my window treatment needs. We met a couple of other times to begin the process for the window treatments. She is always very pleasant and communicates well with me and even sends me reminder emails about our appointments. The initial blind installation went well and the installers did a nice job and I even hired them to hang other artwork and mirrors throughout the house. Lori was great and assisted us with that process. We decided to do the window treatments in 2 phases. The first set (2 bedrooms, kitchen and great room) will be ready to install in the next 2 weeks meeting our short deadline of having guests the last week of November. I couldn't be more pleased and I am looking forward to phase 2 in January.

Lori had helped us in a previous house so she was the first person we called when we got a new house. Lori knows what we like which helped in making stress free selections. With a new house there are so many decisions to make--it was great having someone we already knew and trusted. Lori is always cheerful, punctual, and professional. She showed us options we had not thought of and discussed the pros and cons of each option. We still have several projects left and Lori will be the person we call for those. We would definitely recommend Lori to anyone who wants a first-class experience.

Paula came to our house to discuss our needs. We selected a base design from a design book she brought. We spent next few days selecting a fabric for our window treatments from the samples Paula left. After several weeks, Paula came with her installer to install the window treatments. They looked okay when they were installed in the evening, but didn't look as well in the morning. We contacted Paula and expressed our concern. Without a hesitation, she offered to re-make the window treatments. We repeated the whole process again, only being more careful this time. We changed the design and fabric. After another several weeks, the new window treatments were made and installed. They turned out much better than we had hoped, and they look great in the morning, during the day and at night. This was a long project and we spent a lot of time with Paula. Throughout the process, she was a true professional and always tried to do her best to please us. We are so glad to have chosen Saw Fine II for our window treatment project. We highly recommend Saw Fine II, Paula in particular, for any window treatment project.

From the first consultation to the installation Barbara was a pleasure to work with. She provided expert consultation via a charming genteel southern accent that said "designing women" through and through. She was very patient as we walked through the issues and agreed on a treatment for each window and door. I also thoroughly enjoyed her approach and her obvious love of decor. She was very knowledgeable about hardware choices as well as what fabric would work, considering practicability as well as aesthetics. When the time came for installation, Barbara rearranged the schedule in order to hang the drapes as soon as possible. Installation was professional, expert, and efficient. The final results were exactly what I was hoping for, delivering clean lines without distracting from my view. When the drapes are drawn and the roman shades are closed the effect is perfectly designed to harmonize and enhance the design of the living space. I couldn't be more pleased with the results! I look forward to working with Barbara again on window treatments in another part of the house.
Description of Work: I worked with Barbara to design and install contemporary window treatments for four large windows and sliding glass doors in my newly renovated home. The placement of the windows and doors posed some challenging issues. In addition I wanted to retain the view since I live on a small lake.

We were ready to re-upholster furniture and repaint a couple of rooms. I contacted Sew Fine II for an in-home visit. Paula set an appointment time that was convenient for me. She arrived on time with fabric sample books. She also helped select paint colors for a great room and dining room and made recommendations for furniture placement. A year later, we needed new drapes for a new sliding glass door. Her suggestions transformed a room in our modest home that really needed help. We are thrilled with the results. Paula is delightful, taking time to consider many options and patiently explaining the pro's and con's of fabric types. I've worked with other interior designers and Paula is by far the most professional and congenial. She makes you feel good about the process, which can be intimidating. All of the work was completed when promised and on budget -- no surprises, other than how much better the rooms look. She also recommended a talented upholsterer and a top-notch painter (Santiago in Durham, also reviewed on Angie's List). Both did outstanding work. If you're ready for a room or whole house makeover, call Paula at Sew Fine II. I've already recommended Sew Fine II to others.

I found Paula to be responsive, gracious and committed to quality. We hit one buyer related bump in the road when I changed the color of my window paint trim (and consequently shutters) and she did a very nice job of working to accommodate my revised request. She also personally oversaw the multiple hour long installation of my shutters to ensure that they were hung PERFECTLY. I am a perfectionist myself and can honestly say that my expectations on end result were exceeded. I would highly recommend Sew Fine for both window treatments and custom bedding based on the excellence of both product and service from purchase THROUGH installation.
Description of Work: I worked with Paula at Sew Fine II in a number of areas related to my family's new home including but not limited to the selection and installation of six sets of custom made plantation shutters and a custom duvet and bedskirt. The pricing information in this review relates to the plantation shutters.

Came to the house and listened to what we wanted to do. Worked with us rather than dictating a specific look like other designers -- so we got our house, not the designers. Good with fabric -- appears to be a specialty. Very impressed with the way they took our existing, voluminous, silk drapes and made three elements out of them. Really tied the room together cohesively.
Description of Work: Picked colors for repainting first floor (cost of painting contractor not included above.) Picked tile, lighting and finishes for bathroom remodel (contractor cost not included above.) Picked out carpet for master bedroom (300 sq ft) and rug (5x8) for guest bedroom (cost of carpet and rug included, minus installation cost.) Picked bedroom window treatments including curtains and reconfigured existing drapes into window treatment plus pillow shams and dust ruffle for bed.
