Mr Ross and Shelby were fantastic and overly helpful! They were very friendly and made the entire experience fun and light hearted. I had a ring that belonged to my mother, that the diamond had cracked. This was a 2 carat diamond and I was heartbroken. After researching the current market in diamonds today it seemed I was going to be extremely limited in my options as I had a very tight budget. Not only did Mr Ross find a 2ct diamond in my budget but set the diamond and had it looking brand new - and did this at no additional charge! The replacement was completed in the timeframe stated as I don’t expect to be placed ahead of others who’s repairs were there before mine. I have returned since with my Rolex and Patek watches and received the same excellent service with them as well. I will be a life long customer! Oh he also provided me with a free appraisal as well!!

I went to Ross and Co. to have my rings sized, soldered and appraised after they were voted Best Jeweler in the Triangle by the Independent. The work took longer than I was initially told, though close to the promised date, Mr. Ross called and told me they would be a bit longer than anticipated. When I picked up the rings, the soldering work looked ok on the outside, but on the inside was sloppy and uneven. The appraisal was not complete, and I was told it would be mailed out as soon as it was completed. It was several months before I received it - after I called to inquire. I was less than pleased, and intended that to be my last association with Ross and Co. For personal reasons, I was not wearing the rings regularly, so I did not give it another thought. When I pulled the rings out to wear them again, it became clear that they were not nearly small enough. I was grousing about this to a friend of mine, a jeweler in another state, and he suggested I return to Ross and Co. and have them complete the job. So I reluctantly returned with the rings to Ross and Co. When I explained the situation, I was informed that – no, this was not going to be considered part of the original job. If I was unhappy, I should have come back immediately. He asked when the work was done – I guessed six months - and I tried to explain the reason why I didn’t immediately return. I only just discovered the problem because I hadn’t worn the rings since the work was done. Mr. Ross reluctantly agreed to fix the problem, and told me the rings would be complete the following Friday. When Friday rolled around, I received a call from Mr. Ross. The rings were not complete, and would not be until the next Tuesday. He went on to say that he went back in his records and it was actually more than a year since I had had the original work done. I was embarrassed, and tried to apologize for my mistake. However, Mr. Ross was on a roll. He accused me of being manipulative and trying to get something for nothing. After berating me for another minute or so for being dishonest, he concluded by saying, “I’m going to do this, but you need to know…” I stopped him there. I told him not to do a thing to my rings, that I would be there the next morning to pick up them up, and that I would take my business elsewhere. It turned out that Mr. Ross was right, and I was wrong. It had been a significant amount of time, and if I had realized that initially, I would not have been so resistant to treating this as a separate job. However, instead of handling the situation professionally and working with me to reach a resolution, he chose to attack me personally. That combined with the mediocre quality of the work is enough to convince me to take my business elsewhere from now on.
Description of Work: I originally went to Ross & Co. to have three rings sized, two of those rings combined together and an appraisal done.

I would like to thank Angie's list for providing this opportunity to respond to this review. At Ross and Company Jewelers we offer Fine Jewelry, Estate Jewelry, Watches and Jewelry Repair, the repairs are done on site by me Curtis Ross. In our store we pride ourselves in customer service. I am certainly sorry that (deleted member name) does not feel that she received our normal standard of customer care.,I would love to be of service to (deleted member name) in the future so she will have a better understanding of our customer service that our loyal customers have come to expect and receive. Please let me address this issue. (deleted member name) brought her ring into our store without any paperwork and said we had sized it for her and it still,does not fit. After asking her how long it had been she said 2 to 3 months. At which time I said there would be a charge, (deleted member name) then said, "No I will take it somewhere else, I thought you were a reputable company and stand behind your work". At that time she turned away and began to sob stating for personal reasons she had not tried the ring on until recently since we sized it. I then said we want our customers to be happy and agreed to size the ring at no charge. After she left I followed up on her original receipt , It was not 3 months prior, it was 11/2 years prior. I felt it was fair to my other customers to call her and bring this to her attention and let her know it was not our policy to size it after such a long time, but did agree to take care of it anyway. (deleted member name) seemed upset that I found this information and said"No don't size it I will pick it up, I do not like what you are implying". Let me make a suggestion to customers getting a ring sized in any Jewelry store, please try it on when you pick it up and continue to make sure it fits for a couple of weeks and most stores will work with you. But if you do not try the ring on after picking it up for 11/2 years and expect it sized at no charge , you may find it is beyond some stores policy time frame..... Let me take this time to thank everyone in the Triangle that voted for us in The Hearld Sun Readers Choice Awards, thanks to you we did win 1st Place again this year, making it 8 years in a row!!!.... Ross is very straightforward. He always tells what my options are. He is very upfront about what the cost of my options would be. I can trust him to do good job and to provide me with options so that I know what range of cost could be and what are the advantages of any particular option might be.
